Where would you live?

Pleasant climate, geographical beauty, political stability, cheap cost of living, and an abundance of attractive women would form the cornerstones of my decision making process. Can anyone convince me that Chile is not the slam dunk #1 destination?

Santiago brings a cosmopolitan flair while the rest of the country seems blissfully isolated from, well, everything.

I'll post links, pics, and references unless I'm distracted by squirrels, which is usually the case.

Burgas, Bulgaria
You've been there?

Awesome place, spent a decent amount of time there in the early 2000s. Bulgaria has a strange culture, but it's pretty interesting and the people are pretty cool. Have some good stories from my time there.

I'm a fan of "House Hunter's International" as well. It's inspiring to see people going after their dream. Lots of awesome locales.

Santiago is nice and all but has a very American feel to it. It is also fairly expensive so you aren't getting a huge discount from that perspective. Also, not a lot of English is spoken there. Girls are cute but Argentina has hotter/more willing girls.

I've been an expatriate several times now, including in Illinois ;)

Chile is on the list of nice places but it does have a bit of a weird dynamic with respect to the Pinochet era, similar to South Africa and Apartheid and to some extent Spain and the Franco era (although that is getting to be a long time ago). It's just a vibe that something is not quite right. Chileans are not very likely to do something drastic about it though.

Just because it's named after your favorite dish doesn't mean it's a great place to live. Personally, I'd prefer to live somewhere that hasn't had a bloody military coup followed by thousands of disappearances during my lifetime.
