Ok, I did a pretty long commentary on Flying. This one is brief.

Child hood nursery rhymes...

Picture book story...

But a little sad.

Adding the seance...

Fun.

I had the most wonderful childhood.

Can you take me back...?

Reminds me of a thread here once on our childhood toys. ..that was a great thread...this is a great thread...

...this song is great.

Krista Rank - Medley Song #5

No Fat Chicks

same mother ####ers keep popping up on these giant ranking differences.  Either they are scarf-wearing musical snobs insistent on being "different" or they are under 26 and compare everything to Imagine Dragons ...or both.

ETA:  I mean this in the best way possible.  ####in' manbun  ####ers

Got in the car to go with Mr krista to the bar, and I had just started the car when he muttered, “I still hate this song.”  I had the volume down and looked at the radio display to see “The Fool On The Hill.”  Now there’s been about 10 minutes of muttering about guys in their basements, fedoras, people who say “m’lady,” anti-vaxxers, and somehow flat earthers, too.  Sorry, Getz.   :lmao:

I'm at a loss on all the hate.  It's a classic.

Mr Krista - the man of a 1000 voices, but nobody ever hears him.   :-) . :-) . :-) .
Btw, I really do like it Getz.

I only seemed to bad mouth it in my Flying comments... For comedic effects and to mirror Mr. K... Since I quoted him and all.

Peace. ✌️

Contest -
Send me what you think will be the Composite Top 10 via PM. Please NUMBER them from 1 (best) to 10 (worst), with #1 at the top.
Pick a song in the top 10?  ONE POINT
Pick a song perfectly in the right spot?  TWO MORE POINTS for a total of THREE
FBG with most points will get to choose the charity of their choice and I'll ship it $100.
I will take lists all the way up until I get to #100 on the Composite List

I have three lists.   Do you guys hate your charities?

Will take them all Monday and Tuesday.

tip of the hat kristas

you think?  I could see the Beatles doing this.  And certainly without any damage to their careers.

Gerry and the Pacemakers were excellent in their time.  They just weren't the Beatles ...but nobody was.

No shame in that.
In context I think it’s a strong possibility.  They hadn’t done anything yet at the time.  Love Me Do was a modest chart success but nothing exciting.  Martin wasn’t yet sold on their prowess as songwriters and he and the label could have hardlined it and insisted they put it out.  You can hear a snippet of the Beatles version in the clip, and unlike the Pacemakers version which is solid, it lacked....something.  Passion?  Energy?  Effort?  They clearly weren’t into the song, and were absolutely concerned about it damaging their image (they said as much) and it comes across in the recording.

Could it have gone #1 like Martin thought?  Probably - he would certainly know better than me, though I’m still a bit skeptical.  But then let’s say it does go #1.  Is Martin then emboldened to find other standard cookie cutter “hits” for them to record as singles instead of their own stuff?

Bottom line: They were so freaking talented they likely overcome it but it’s a fickle industry so you can’t say for sure.  I think at best it delays their careers from going supernova exactly when it did and maybe affects people’s first impressions of them.  Definitely an interesting “what if?”
