In this thread I rank my favorite post-Beatles Beatles songs: 291-1. (2 Viewers)

I listen to a fair amount to a lot of sirius/xm radio. I am also all over the dial. Anyway, several times this week I would be grooving to a song that I did not recall knowing. I would look to see who it was and I'll be damned if it wasn't Ringo. This happened at least five times in the last week. Enough that I am getting wtf vibes.

   He's reeled you in!

Next up:  grooving to Yoko.

What is something that was done by John Lennon and absolutely no one else?
Wow. I was thinking of earlier in the thread when somebody posited that if "Oh Yoko" didn't have so much baggage behind it, it's at least a top forty hit and I couldn't help but agree. Or something like that. It should have been bigger from where it landed on the charts, but the simple word "Yoko" makes everybody in the world cringe.

There's a social psychology study just waiting to happen, but it's so hard to replicate the presence and entire aura of Yoko, isn't it? I mean, who else hears Chuck Berry playing Memphis (?) and thinks, "Oh, it would be very artistic if I placed an Iranian distress call over the microphone right now?"

Oh Yoko...

I happened to catch the Beatles Channel today for three songs of their annual Memorial Day countdown of listener favorites.  Wasn't sure why they do this every year, but I was surprised to find that actually the top two were different than prior years:  #2 was Here Comes the Sun and #1 was Hey Jude.

The only other I heard was #100, The Night Before.

Do listeners vote for this countdown?

   A Day in the Life has always won, and usually In My Life was second. Last time Hey Jude leapt up to second.  I’m shocked ADitL is #3 or lower.
I wonder if the listeners recently went to his concert, and that pushed Hey Jude to #1. Here Comes the Sun is such a feel good song, and so I wonder if it was #2 due to the state of the world and the USA right now.

I could definitely see that pushing Here Comes the Sun up there.

Figured this was the best place to drop this. I’m planning on attending the morning sessions. I’ve seen Jack numerous times touring with the Fab Faux. Looks like a tremendous unique opportunity.

The Beatles and You: The Composition, Performance, and Recording of Their Classic Songs

This five-day online workshop held with expert analyst, performer, and producer—all Beatles specialists—is devoted to the group’s compositional, performing, and recording procedures, and what their resulting music means to their listeners. Through presentations, lively discussion, short readings and writings, video and live demonstrations, arranging and coaching of singing and instrumental parts, and a “virtual band” remote recording project, participants will choose levels of involvement and areas of desired concentration in exploring the Beatles’ musical world.

The week will proceed with real-time morning presentations involving lecture, rare audio outtakes, photos and diagrams, and—for those desiring more intensive involvement—interactive afternoon sessions, all scheduled to accommodate a range of time zones. Those wishing to discuss the music from a musicological and cultural perspective can elect Track 1; those wishing instrumental instruction on the Beatles’ playing styles in a non-judgmental environment can elect Track 2; and those desiring participation in a “virtual band” recording can elect Track 3. Videos and short readings made available in the months preceding the workshop will introduce ideas and techniques to be explored in our time together. Those electing afternoon sessions will have an opportunity to share their projects in a celebration to be scheduled soon after the week’s end.

WOW!!!  Thanks so much for posting this.  I'm going to sign up for the morning sessions, too.  I'd love to apply for Track 1 of the afternoon sessions, but I'm already taking July 21-31 off work and couldn't possibly miss the entire prior week as well.  :(

ETA:  Ack.  Starts at 7 a.m. PDT each day.  I can do it; I can do it.

When the guys from Fab Faux have made their annual stop in Ann Arbor ( because of COVID they haven’t been back for two years 😪) they always have an education session setup for those hardcore fans with Everett the night before their concerts at the local city library, as he is a UMich music professor. I’ve attend a few of those and they have been spectacular. Really looking forward to this expanded addition!

Yeah, it's just incredible the energy he has.  Nearly three-hour shows without a break!

You got my preferred setlist.  Instead of "I've Just Seen a Face," I got "We Can Work It Out," though I got the former in 2019 when he was rotating them, so maybe I don't mind.  You also got "New" instead of "Queenie Eye," and I much prefer the former.

Reminder that Paul's 80th is this Saturday the 18th.  Just in case you were ordering a cake or anything.
Maybe I’m Amazed is very early on the DJ reception playlist

My fiancée gave him scores no probably hundreds of specific tracks, mostly from the 80s.

I said “Hey man, anything by Dylan, The Beatles, or any Beatles solo work. If you need his Top 500, the lads 211 songs , or their 291 solo songs, I have them all ranked.”

:lmao:

Oh, ####. You’re being serious?

Bruh I’m a CPA/CFO, I’m basically humorless.

OK, cool….cool. Shoot me an email.
