Inaugural fantasy football draft (1 Viewer)

Setting up new fantasy football league on ESPN and ProBoards...16 team dynasty IDP league with 40 active roster spots, and 5 practice squad.

Any recommendations on how to setup inaugural draft? Would like it to go quickly, but with salary cap, feel it would be beneficial to cut off draft after 32 rounds to give each team an opportunity to regroup and use UFA to fill the remaining roster spots.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Unless you have a substantial block of time in which to get all 16 owners into one room and do a live draft (8+ hours), in my opinion the only way to get this done fairly is to do a 'slow draft' with a 24 hour (minimum) clock for owners to make their picks. If people can pre-draft a slate of players on your league site, this actually will go fairly quickly (say just a couple of weeks to complete the draft). We use MyFantasyLeague for all the leagues I play in, like this one which is similar in structure to your proposed dynasty league: REM 09 We used an auction draft format with a $75 salary cap - this worked pretty well as far as time (a couple of weeks as I recall).
