Incorporating return yds (1 Viewer)

I have a question i need some ideas for my league im trying to find a way to make a johua cribbs type player a valuable member to a fantasy team in my league, he gets so many all purpose yds its ridiculous. In our league we use def/st and we do not reward return yds so someone like joshua cribbs has little value on a team. My question is what can we add to make someone like him valuable heres our scoring: 6pts for all tds under 40 yds 9 pts for all tds over 40 yds then we have the usual yardage pts 1/25 passing 1/10 combined rush and rec 5pt bonuses for 100yds rush or rec or 300yds passing we give 6 pts for def/st td's no return yd points. Does anyone have any ideas they could share

1- Do you own Cribbs?2- Is this a dynasty league?

3- Should we also be superbolding our replies?

award points for punt and kickoff return yardage....doesnt have to be the same as for rushing or receiving yardage, but it can be. I got roped into a league this year that awards the same for kick-off/punt returns as for rushing receiving. Leads to starting some interesting looking lineups. My standard weekly lineup has Sproles, Cribbs,Harvin, eddie royal L Washington before he got hurt....we're killing the league in total points Who needs ADP,Drew,Fitz?

Here is the scoring for return yardage in Zealots leagues:

.025 / yard on KO

.05 / yard on punts

6pts on TDs

We also have return yardage on INTs here is the link to all the scoring

I went overboard with the return points this year when I set them to be equal to passing yardage - 25 yards per point passing/returns and 10 yards per point for receiving/rushing. Next year I think I'll set it where the ratio ends up 2:1 rush/pass and 2:1 pass/Return, perhaps more points for punt returns.

Basically:

1:10 rush/receiving

1:20 pass

1:40 return

Our commish awards points for returns and he's been riding Cribbs all year, and now he's 13-1 with the only loss being a bye week for one of his QB's. Cribbs puts up crazy numbers way beyond the projected totals every week.

We have return yards set at 20 = 1 point.

Receiving is 10 yards per point.

Cribbs is WR #17 in our league - right around Donald Driver and OchoCinco.

Maybe 25 return yards per point might be a little more reasonable.

I like scoring this way. We've done it for several years and most of the guys in our league know how to draft accordingly.

You don't need to tip the scoring so far towards PR/KR yards... Our league gives PRYds 75% the points of RecYds, and KRYds 50% the points of RecYds. TDs are the same as RecTDs. Scoring works great; Cribbs, Sproles, and Harvin (#2 in WR scoring) are valuable but, but Courtney Roby and Stephan Logan are not.

:bag: IME the distinction between Kickoff Returns and Punt Returns is a pretty important consideration.

The top KR guys typically rack up 1,500 yards, whereas the PR leader might be less than 500. But you have to be careful, or you will end up overempasizing guys who return kicks but have a substantially lessor impact offensively. For instance, the top all-purpose yardage leaders from 2008 and 2009:

All-Purpose Yds

1. Leon Washington · NYJ 2337

2. Darren Sproles · SDG 2297

3. Jerious Norwood · ATL 2138

4. Steve Breaston · ARI 1918

5. Adrian Peterson · MIN 1901

6. Eddie Royal · DEN 1829

7. Johnnie Lee Higgins · OAK 1812

8. Josh Wilson · SEA 1753

9. Michael Turner · ATL 1740

10. Maurice Jones-Drew · JAX

All-Purpose Yds 2009

1. Josh Cribbs · CLE 2020

2. Darren Sproles · SDG 1931

3. Chris Johnson · TEN 1831

4. Percy Harvin · MIN 1780

5. Fred Jackson · BUF 1717

6. Jamaal Charles · KAN 1581

7. Danny Amendola · STL 1501

8. Steven Jackson · STL 1499

9. Ray Rice · BAL 1474

10. Adrian Peterson · MIN 1382

We do 1/30 kick return yard and 1/15 punt return yards with 3pt bonuses at 100 KRY and 50 PRY. It works out quite sensibly.

We do 1 pt/25 return yard (KR or PR). Going into this week, Cribbs was the #36 ranked WR. This league is a 16-team, start 3-WR league, so he's absolutely startable. He'd be an average WR3 in a 12-teamer as well.
