Indefinite Las Vegas Raiders thread (2 Viewers)

I was listening to the game while in the other room...I heard the crowd cheering like crazy...I thought the Raiders did something great...it was the chiefs fans ...are we sure the Raiders have home field?

I’ve got a new plan. Put Getsy in closet somewhere in the stadium and tell him the raiders are losing by more than scores. That was the best the offense looked all day.

I’m really a pretty easy going guy … I get along with almost everyone and generally have a positive vibe going all of the time …. but there is something about Mahomes that makes me feel a hatred like the heat of a thousand suns.
He seems like a good guy but I know what you're saying from this perspective--he is WAY overexposed. Enough with the commercials, already. How much money do you need, dude? I got $20 I can give you if it'll keep you off camera for a 20 minutes.

I am a little surprised that we haven't heard about potential landing spots for Wilson. Kinda makes me think his market might be pretty bad.

We clearly don't have the full picture of his issues, because two teams both walked away from a talented QB, without a better option. That does NOT happen.

I am content if the team lets a QB come to them, whoever it is. I just don't want to force anything. Browns, Broncos, Panthers, bunch of teams recently have been really aggressive about getting the QB, and it's going to mess them up for years.
You make a valid point in your last paragraph. I feel like the Raiders want to make a big move in the draft. Bottom line, they do need to make a move period, as O’Connell is the only QB on the roster. But they have to be patient and as absolutely sure the guy they want is as close to can’t miss as possible.
I believe going up to the top 3 picks is just too rich. Someone might slide like Levis did last year. Or target JJ at 7 or 8 and not have to give up the whole farm, maybe half. I also like the idea of sticking at #13 and drafting trenches and coming back around later for a Penix, Nix or Rattler.
I still like the idea of trading for Fields too. AP would love to lead the league in rushing with Getsy, Fields, Jacobs and White. Just fits the identity AP is looking to establish coming off of last year. But again, they’re going to have to be patient. The longer they wait, the cheaper Fields will become as other teams begin to fill their QB spots. A 3rd would be ideal in my mind for him but if it takes a 2nd then I still hope they pull the trigger, just not for a 1st.
This is where I’m at as well. Add the cornball dangeruss and just cut him if it’s not working out.
:hifive:

I see lots of complaining about Getty on social media. People need to remember that AP wanted Kingsbury and Mork squashed it.

When you wonder why this team is perpetually bad, the answer is Mark Davis. The answer is always Mark Davis.

I'll never understand with no salary cap outside of players, why NFL teams don't go balls to walls in every other aspect of team/organization building. Mork no longer has the lack of revenue excuse. Chiefs fans' ticket purchases alone would've easily covered ten Kingsburys.

Breer says it was about still paying Gruden & McDaniels but I wonder if the thought that AP is on a short leash had anything to do with it.

I still contend the AP hiring was entirely a do-over for not hiring Bisacia and Davis may not be entirely sold on him long term. To me it always seemed AP is on a "prove it" deal. At least I hope that's the case.

Does anyone have any information on AP's contract?

Nothing definitive. 3-4 years at 4-6M per is standard for first time coaches. Maybe some guaranteed money but nothing along the lines of McDick or Gruden's liability.

Regardless, we can't dump him. It's not about the money, it's about sending the message of stability and giving the guy the chance. PIT has had 3 coaches in 56 YEARS. Three. We've had three in the last four years. So if AP coaches until he's 98 we'll catch them.

I'll defer to those on the board who keep track of these things more closely than me, but I heard recently that Kingsbury went to the Commanders when the Raiders (and perhaps Davis) would only give him a two year contract. I guess the usual length is three.

And now Diggs is done for the year. Price on Devante keeps going up!

Oh wait ...
Mark Davis
Bird in the hand. What makes you think the Texans would offer more? They do have Nico coming back next week. Probably the same compensation with a higher likelihood of a lower draft slot.

I understand hating on Davis, who I think is far, far better than any meddling owner, which most are, but this seems like a reach.

Anyone wonder if Kingsbury may have read the room and decided he'd rather coach the #2 pick in the draft than Minshew & O'Connell?
This is why he chose Washington. Once they offered him the job and told him they were taking Daniels and would not trade the pick no matter what he was going to Washington.

Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said the offensive play-calling “has to get better,” but that he is comfortable with OC Luke Getsy calling plays.
Getsy’s questionable play-calling while with the Bears led to his dismissal after the 2023 season. It’s no surprise to see him struggling with the Raiders’ and their less-talented roster and assortment of quarterbacks. The Raiders rank 26th in the league in points per game (18.0) and have scored 20 or more points in just one of their last four games. They also rank dead last in EPA per play (-0.190) and are 24th in offensive success rate. There’s no telling how long Getsy’s leash could be at this point, but with half the season still to go, a change could be in order for the 2-6 Raiders, who will face the Bengals in Week 9.

I think you need to define meddling. Is tell the GM/HC to bench Carr because he did not want to be on the hook for Carr's salary meddling? Is cutting Carr and getting zero compensation meddling? Is undermining AP's choice of Kingsbury by refusing to give Kingsbury a standard contract meddling? Is telling the GM he would not accept anything less than a second rd pick for DA meddling?

These are just the items off the top of my head. I am sure there are many more examples if I had the energy. But the truth is I am done. There are better ways to invest my time. I just feel sorry for all the Raider fans supporting this knucklehead. They certainly deserve better.

49 players have 50+ carries so far this season. Here are the bottom 2 in yards/carry

48th. Alexander Mattison 3.19
49th. Zamir White 3.04

Seriously, WTF. Looked deeper into this and Mattison has rushed for less than 3 YPC in five of eight games this season. And that's while looking better than White using the eye test at least. AP honeymoon is officially Getsy'd.

Was Minshew just yanked? Not injured?

i think he was dinged up
Oh. Ok.
You didn’t expect me to actually watch this crap, right? ;)
I watched the entire second quarter. This team could and should lose out. Keep Getsy to make sure that happens.
So much for that.

Getsy Gone
It’s the right move. Total disaster on offense.
