Seeing that Nicks is a candidate to be signed after week one. What's the significance there? No salary guarantee, or something? (sorry to be behind the curve)

Yes, basically. Players on roster for week 1 are paid for the whole year. Players signed after week 1 are only paid for the weeks they are on the roster.

Dobson was on the roster bubble and somewhat in the doghouse (but with all the injuries and release of Wayne seemingly got gifted a roster spot). So I doubt he assumes the #1 receiver role.

Even if it was a possibility Dobson could be active to start the year, I urge you to just leave it where it lies. Nothing good could come of it.

Dobson looked pretty terrible in the preseason. He probably would have been cut if they weren't so thin at WR. I'm thinking it's gonna be Amendola. He does pretty well when healthy. It's the when healthy part that's been the problem with him.

The spread v PIT is 6.5. Does that seem high? They've been hyping the Steelers offence all summer.

edit: Actually it's 7.0

Pittsburgh's supposed to be a contender. Pats have a whole new D.

With Brady, no LeVeon, no Pouncey... at home, deflategate win, SB trophy, rings. There's just a lot going for the Pats in this one. And no QB is better at using what he has (no Lafell...) and Brady should be playing with a purpose. As far as a new D, I think the D-line should be better and a huge factor, good LB's, good safety, cornerback, not so sure. Hopefully they won't start out like last year!

I'm trying to figure out how to get Amendola into a week one lineup. I really think he blows up this week.
One of my deeper dyno teams plagued with injuries and suspensions, hes in contention for one of my two flex spots with Mike Wallace and Devin Funchess. Probably won't, but am also looking for excuses.

Patriots awarded DT Khyri Thornton on waivers from Packers. Played at Southern Miss. Was drafted 3rd round in 2014. 6-foot-3, 315 pounds.

edit: OT Cameron Fleming released to make roster spot.
Quick fall from grace for Fleming...looked like he had some potential last season...surprised by this...
Fleming has been signed to Pats practice sqad. Cleared waivers.

Also, Pats tried to get Fred Jackson as soon as he was released by Bills.

What do you think his prospects are ROS? He really hasn't been on my radar (he went undrafted in my 16-teamer last night), but I'm looking around at the NE receivers and I can't see how he doesn't get a bunch of targets. Plus, I'm totally buying the theory that Brady's in '07-style FU mode this year.

Thinking of dropping Bolden for him.

You should drop Bolden, hes a fantasy non-prospect.

Dola is a weird case, he looks like the current #2 in NE, and is perfectly capable of being Edelman in terms of production, but the opportunities aren't necessarily gonna be there as the #2, he can't play Lafell's game, its gonna be something else entirely.

We might be seeing some weird Edelman, Dola, Chandler, Gronk offense. I think we will see Dobson splashed in and out, but the kid just stinks. I like Chris Harper as a shot in the dark over Dobson.

If Dola plays all 16 I could see 50-90 rec for 500-900 yards.

I don't expect much from Bolden this week. I expect NE to pass a lot and use short routes as their running game. I only see Bolden in the 8-12 carry range with limited success.

Amendola is more of an outside receiver than Edelman, so he's filling the lafell role until he's back. When he was in last year he was pretty productive, and the team has paid out that big contract they have him so this us what they've been waiting for. I think he can be a monster this week on opening night against a soft defense that's going to be doing everything they can to shut down gronk and Edelman, and I can see him putting up about 500-600 yards the first 8 games until lafell comes back. Unfortunately, after that his value turns into a pumpkin, but ride the train while you can imo.

Bolden should be a quality start Thursday night and is blounts direct backup. I wouldn't drop him.
Brandon Bolden in 'Normal' routine despite possible starting role.

Bolden is a special teamer who some times gets to spell the other RBs. Hes capable of both NE RB roles but is good at neither. I think the only NE RB capable of 10+ pts this week is Lewis and I'm probably gonna pull him from the only team I could possibly start him on.

I don't think any of the NE RBs are startable on Thursday.

Edit: My dismissal of Bolden is scarily close to my dismissal of Edelman when he was competing with Welker. I'm more confident about Bolden though - for whatever thats ####### worth lmfao.

I think the game plan is going to have more running than you guys do. With Gronk and the two smurfs i think they're going to need to soften defenses in the early going. With a full cadre of receivers they can do the five wide thing or keep a passing back in but I fully expect Bolden and Blount to be a big part of the offense the first couple months.

It was amazing the ... "long and winding road" the Pats took last year and to get where they ended up. As wild a season as I can remember, like when there was talk of the total demise of Brady.... so it's good to temper early expectations. imo There's no one better at seeing the big picture of a season and planning accordingly than Bellichick. Even his in game view encompasses all 4 quarters, into their 2nd meeting later in the season (if there is one), all the way to late January. That's why he is a genius, among other things. I'm excited to see these new 3rd down type RB's do their thing, to see how the D line with guys like Easley (healthy) and Sheard, how Chandler fits in the mix (has to be better than Tim Wright), how Malcom Butler fares.... it's here faithful fans, forget the haters and enjoy greatness when it's in front of you!

The concussion for #Patriots center Bryan Stork is apparently very serious. They just placed him on Injured Reserve/Designated-to-Return.

How much does this affect Brady an the oline as a whole?

Jesus christ, IR designated to return for a concussion! Losing Stork sucks, it blows out what little depth we had. Wendell is capable, of at least the level of play Stork had lost year.

The problem comes from basically locking in the guard position without Wendell being able to flex in on occasion. That leaves Tre Jackson at LG, and Josh Kline and Shaq Mason fighting for RG. They will likely use both Mason and Kline at RG, both have flaws, Mason is an absolute mauler in the run game though.

Supposedly Stork has been dealing with concussion symptoms for a whole month - he might not ever play football again...

When Belichick was talking about how him and Mcdaniels just looked at each other and both said 'Double Pass' - little fan girl squeel.

Does anyone here have inside info on who carries the rock for the Pats tonight? Not necessarily who starts, but who gets the bulk of the touches

If anyone is looking for some good pre and post-game coverage of the Pats, rather than pretty terrible TV programs, I'd recommend checking out Patriots XBOX One Pre and Post Game Show on Patriots.com radio. Here's a link: http://www.patriots.com/audio/2015/02/06/patriotscom-live-radio.

They're starting now until about 8PM. Pretty good stuff.
Will the pregame festivities be broadcast on national TV ?

If so, what time does it air ?

thanks.
??? Not sure what you mean. It's a 2-hour pregame pats radio show that also does a postgame show. It has two of the writers from the pats weekly paper, who are a good listen and have good info on players (mostly opinions but I find they're very accurate).

I am rolling with Boldin and Amendola in a 16 team league. Not excited about it, but hoping one finds the end zone and they each get some yardage.
