Not sure that they will (much) this year, but I'd suspect he'll give White or Lewis a breather in spot duty.

He's looked very good playing with and against 2nd and 3rd stringers. However, I am not sure how NE QBs translate into other systems (or maybe better stated that it is harder to project how well they would do in other systems).

The kid has looked very good but he is probably not worth rostering unless it's a huge roster...I say that because even though he is 39 Brady looks like he can still play at least another three years (and maybe more)...I fully understand that at his age he could fall off of a cliff quickly but it's becoming very apparent he is a physical freak...the guy has taken care of his body as well as any pro athlete could and he still plays like he is 25 (and he has been preparing for this for years)...unless he gets a bad injury he is the Pats starting QB for a decent amount of time longer...as for Brissett I am very impressed with him...he is so much better than I expected...he's big and athletic (as advertised) but you can tell pretty quickly his head is on straight and he knows how to play the game...he has a mature quality about him...on the field he reminds me a little of a poor man's Jameis Winston...same type of big-bodied game that is suited for today's NFL...he still has a ways to go but I would not be surprised if BB is higher on him than he is Jimmy G...would not be surprised at all if he ends up being the heir apparent...but it could be a lot longer than it's worth waiting for fantasy-wise...

We did it guys, we lived through the Aaron Dobson era, its over, its finally over - I suspect Harper won't be far behind him.

Harper was recently cut, last i checked they needed to cut 7 more, not sure Lucien is safe, but Id like to see him get a real shot.
Edit: and as I post that Lucien waived. Down to 4 WRs, they are definitely gonna be looking at some of these guys waived from around the league.

WRs Id like for them to poke at:
- Devin Cajuste (WR/TE from Stanford, was pretty good in college, couldn't make the 49ers terrible offense, freakishly athletic)
- Keyarris Garret (Led the country in receiving, 6'4" 205, might be worth a look)
- Keenan Reynolds (RB/WR/QB out of Navy, many had him getting drafted by NE but the Ravens took him pretty early, would love to see him in NE)
- Kenny Bell (Was one of my sleeper WRs of the 2015 class, struggled in Tampa, not sure why)
- Moritz Boehringer (not really, but come on)

Guaranteed no.
EDIT: White is ahead of the pecking order for sure, and the way the Pats play the RBs, it could be any that receive the bulk of the reps for any game. But over the season and all else being equal, White will get more reps and more time than Foster, unless he does something to lose his spot.

If Foster gets a shot I think he will beat out White, that being said, in redrafts I'm rostering James White until I see Foster get some regular season snaps.
In other news, Danny Amendola activated off PUP.
I also think that the fact they kept 4 WRs and 4 TEs is a pretty clear indication of the composition of the offense.

White is JAG and is useless running the ball. Foster has more upside and from my perspective has better big play ability. That being said, White should get a long look with Lewis on the PUP, but if given a chance I think Foster can leapfrog White. Foster looks like a more natural receiver. NE loves to run the wheel route with their RB and I think Foster can be much more effective than White.

I don't get the James White hate. Not a great runner between the tackles, but he's a great pass catcher, in the flat, and is great in open space.

I think he eventually will...White is a mediocre talent...he's not going to hurt you but he doesn't do anything special...it appears they do trust him which is always important with BB and Brady...that being said I think Foster is far more talented than him...he just plays faster and has the feel that he can take it to the house every time he touches the ball (like Lewis)...now I say that with limited looks at the kid and may think differently once the real season begins but this kid just jumps out at you every time he touches the ball...also, and I may be playing Detective here but BB talking to the kid (and how he was talking to him) after his fumble the other night is not something you see too much...I think they know they may have something here...

White will have value and perceived value all year as he holds down the fort until Lewis returns and then is the obvious next man in that role if Lewis can't go again.
Blount has value as he normally does situationally in "those" games where the Pats want to use him but I think because of the Brady suspension they will use him more than usual and he will have some misleading and inflated numbers and perceived value early. I think he will give way to Foster later in the year if Foster can uphold his end of the bargain and Bishop Sankey is a "flyer" for the Patriots who if he could get it together and show what a lot of people thought he could be when he came into the league, could push Foster out of the way.

BB runs a meritocracy and if Foster starts to outplay White on the practice field and in limited game reps, he will start to make his way into the game plan. White is definition of a JAG. Vereen didn't look this pedestrian his first few seasons and he was pretty pedestrian. I don't know I've ever seen White make a "Wow" game-changing play. Maybe he caught an impressive wheel route or two, but that's it.
After seeing the spark that Lewis provided, I think/hope the Pats coaching staff now covets that same quick step blink-and-he's-five-yards-upfield attribute that Lewis provides. And I think Foster possesses that in spades. As a huge Pats homer, I believe enough in Foster to roster him in a deep .5ppr dynasty and I wouldn't even want White. Foster I think has potential for Lewis Lite, and we already know what White is. Virtually unplayable except in emergency.
White was a top 10 RB in my ppr the last seven weeks after he took over that pass catching role. His value is a bit reduced in 0.5por, but your statement seems a bit dramatic and not even remotely accurate based on last years production.

Wow. Yeah I checked and in my .5ppr he actually was decent. I guess I'm letting his bland real world play influence my FF take on him. Thanks for calling me out and course correcting me.
I still stand by my opinion of him as a player. He is literally the bare minimum talent needed for that role in the Pats offense, which apparently still makes him very playable in ppr.

Sincerely hope they're still shopping. Sankey is an unproven version of Donald Brown. And, mark my words, Foster will cost the Pats a game. There's a hiccup between him receiving the ball and using it that screams "TO6".

In a big picture you are not wrong...White is an ok player who was in a great situation...you could easily see the difference between him and Lewis...if he remains in that role he will be productive this year as well...a lot of times guys are better real players than fantasy players...in his current situation (no Lewis) White is a better fantasy than real player...I really hope the flashes seen by Foster translate to the regular season...if they do I think he will cut into White in a big way because he looks like he has more zip than White and that can take the offense to another level as seen by Lewis...if he is just a pre-season wonder than White will be a solid PPR option who won't wow anyone in real football...

Safe to assume he will be traded in the offseason. Showcased for a game and a half should be enough to fetch an early draft pick anyway.

As far as Jimmy G. goes, I have seen anything and everything from slight chance he plays this week, some chance he plays next week, and out 2 or 4 or 6 weeks.
The keep Jimmy G. and punt on Brady narrative also involved Brady starting to show some signs of decline this year. Since he hasn't played yet, anyone can argue whatever they want to fit their narrative.
IMO, if Brady won a 5th SB this year or next year, he could walk into the sunset and call it a career and Garoppolo could take over the reins. There will come a point when Brady is not the best option for NE, and I expect he would retire vs. being cut or traded. Just a guess.
