Indi @ Denver-Early game thread? (1 Viewer)

Denver fan here stuck in Lions country.

Just wondering how Shanny is going to game plan this week.

Offence:

He has to run Tater at the ends a lot. Figure run to set up the pass.

Questions:

Will/can Indi D take away the run and force the pass?

Can Plummer pass to Smith, Walker (did you see him on Rome is Burning? Man love for Walker  )?

Will a TE show up? Could be Tony Schelffer break out, maybe WR Brandon Marshall in the slot?

Will the loss of LT Matt Lepsis effect the run game or does the line have depth?

Will Indi D bite on the bootleg?

Will Cuttler come in for Plummer?

Defense:

Who will Champ Bailey cover, Harrison or Wayne and who will Denver double? Will it matter?

Can Denver’s speedy LB’s cover Stokley out of the slot and Clark at TE?

Will DE Elvis Dumervil and the rest of the D-line get to Manning and force him out of the pocket?

Can Denver pressure Manning with just their front four?

How will Denver line up on D while Manning is calling plays at the line?

I figure a big dose of Tater early and often.

As soon as Indi puts more men in the box Shanny continues to run Tater with M. Bell and maybe a bit of C. Cobbs mixed in, then blend a bit of Plummer on the move, (not standing in the pocket).

I think Denver plays a ball control offence to keep Manning and co. off the field as much as possible.

Keys to Denver’s game-Plummer moving out of the pocket after the run is established and the D line getting to Manning.

Please excuse any lack of acuity here, just a Big Bronco Fan excited about the game.

Projections

Plummer-220 1 pass TD, 1 ru TD, 1 int

Walker 120-1 TD

Smith 85-0

Tater-150-2 td (one long one)

Looking for an Indi homer take.

I'm not a Colts fan, but I live in Indy. I can't help knowing a little more about this team than most others.

Here's my take on this week's game:

First and foremost, the running game will obviously be the key for Denver. Unfortunately, I don't see Shanny following everybody else's lead and running delays and draws all day. It probably won't matter, but that has worked to perfection against Indy. The ends rush up the field all day long and leave their linebackers to fill the gaps. A running back that gets a second to look at the defense before he takes off is getting an advantage. Again, I think Denver will run well regardless. If thats the case, the Colts will have to score close to thirty or more points to win IMO.

I think Plummer will surprise some people and play well. He will be able to use play-action early and often. Indy should and will respect the play-action all day. However, as I already stated above, the ends never stay home. Plummer has to make quick and safe decisions. If he does that I think they win. He can't afford to put his defense in tough spots. They are good enough to hold Indy under twenty.

I am also looking forward to this game. I think these are the two best teams in the AFC right now.

I've got a lot of Broncos and Colts in this game. I am sitting the Broncos D and I am watching Peyton light up the Bronco's D. Peyton just has too many weapons. Champ may shutdown Marvin, but Wayne, Stokely, Clark, Utecht and even Fletcher are all going to find themselves open downfield. If it makes you feel better, Elam should boot 3 FGs and hopefully Walker has a TD.My guess: Colts 21, Broncos 16While you are here in Detroit, get yourself a #34 jersey and jump on the KJ bandwagon.

Not in Det, in Grand Rapids. Grew up here but lived in Colo for 10 yrs pre Elway. I am rooting for the Tigers.I am a bit worried about the secondary and the WR not covered by Champ. Wayne could go off.I am hoping the D-line can get to Manning before they have time to go long. Could be the key to the game.

Well, I guess you can get that Kircus jersey now. :bag: He came out of GVSU and he'll get some real chances to play in Denver.Tigers aren't looking so good. Too many young guys playing on edge. We'll see. Its only the bottom of the 5th.Good luck in the Den/Indy game -- I am starting Peyton, Walker and Elam.

The last few times that these two teams played does anyone recall how Champ was used? Was he on Marvin exclusively? Did he stick to his side? Was it mixed up? Someone has to know this stuff. There is a big difference between those who watch games and those who watch stats.

I was wondering the same thing.Problem is, how he was used in the past may not be an indicator of how he will be used this week.If he is on Wayne is Harrison doubled?Denver has been able to get presure with their front four this season. Gives them much more flexibility with their LB's and DB's.I bet Shanny mixes it up, but who knows.

It is nice seeing local boys make it.
