Infinite New York football Giants (2025 same as it ever was) (3 Viewers)

I just don't see any of this "Savior" talk you're mentioning here. I'm well known for crapping on the Giants the last few years due to not having a functional QB. They let key leaders go because they paid a guy who couldn't throw 40+ million, then overpaid lesser guys at those positions with injury histories. The depth is paper-thin and they are praying they get something out of a number of retread reserves...

However, having Russ is having a guy who knows how to play the position. He'll iron out pre-snap penalties and can still throw people open. Cooked Russ >>>>>>>>>> Daniel Jones.

Why is there so much hate for The Giants from The Irish?

No hate, just realistic. Oh by the way, I'm also a Cowboys' Fan.
So what are your oversized expectations for America's Former team?

🤣 🤣
You'll learn I'm not one of those obnoxious Cowboys' fans. I'm rather level headed, especially with my expectations and it's not a reverse psychology thing.

As for my oversized expectations, let's see...
I believe they split with the Commanders and Eagles and beat the Giants both times. (4-2) to start.
@ Bears - L?
Packers - L?
@ Jets - W
@ Panthers - W
@ broncos - L
Cardinals - W
@ Raiders - W
Chiefs - L
Lions - L
Vikings - W
Chargers - W

So, my initial prediction is right around 10 or 11 wins. 10-7 or 11-6. Losses to the Eagles, Commanders, Broncos, Chiefs, Lions, and possibly one or both of the Packers and Bears.

I think they lose twice to The Commies and eagles, split with The Giants, lose to the Panthers(who will surprise eveyone this year)

So you have them 1-6 in the division and 6-11 overall. I guess you have the Giants finish above or pretty even with the Cowboys?

Well, that at least explains the jaded viewpoint, thinking that the Giants and Cowboys are in an even playing field. I guess really who knows?

Doesn't Vegas have 7.5 wins this year for Dallas?
-Irish3 "my initial prediction is right around 10 or 11 wins"

Doesn't Vegas have 5.5 wins this year for the Giants?

Jaded.

Wow, hadn't seen that. Vegas has Dallas at 7.5 wins. Well, I'm jaded for sure but folks, take the over!

Isn't this the same Cowboy team that has had one hell of an offseason? Contract negotiations dragging on into the pre-season with multiple star players. One of those players demanding a trade. And an comically undisciplined first pre-season game under their belt? This after being top 6 in flags last year. Surely all hall marks of a team ready to easily increase their win totals from the previous year by 4 games.

Why are we talking Cowboys in the Giants thread anyway?

Just trying to fly below the radar, you know create some misdirection. Look over there, while we go ahead and win 10 games. Back to the Giants, which by the way, was how I started.

Because no one in the cowboys thread wants to talk about them.

So back to The Giants.
Question for Giants fans...
What week do you think Jaxson Dart gets his first start?
I’m ok if he doesn’t. Let him learn in the QB room. As long as Devito meets the Turk, I’ll be happy. can’t get rid of that pretender fast enough.

Well, Neal is looking as good in this game as I think I've ever seen him. Perhaps he isn't ready to wear that bust label after all.
Yeah he looking good at guard tonight.
I'm really happy with how Mbow is looking at LT tonight
Agreed, Mbow is looking good.

I think I only saw one negative play by Neal all night long. Such a difference from earlier seasons. I hope this isn't just a preseason mirage.

In general, the QBs had some nice pockets to work with. I am so not used to seeing that.

- Overall pretty happy with the way the Giants have looked so far. 30 Pts in back to back games is impressive for the Giants even if it is preseason
- All of the QBs continue to look good but It's looking to me like Dart is going to steal the starting QB role sooner than later
- The Oline has looked pretty damn good despite missing Thomas and Evan Neal not fully inserted yet ... I think he will be soon. Wilson had the biggest pocket Ive seen a Giant QB have in 10 years on the 80 yd pass to Collins. Tracy had his choice of 2 massive holes up the middle on his 12 yard run (go Left or go right ???) Not sure how Schmidts played but if he ddint step it up in this game he is a real risk of losing his job to Van Roten ...Whatever makes them better is fine with me.
- Overall there just seems to be so much competition at almost all positions. TEs look deep and talented (bellinger may be in trouble) Theo Johnson with a big 30 yard catch and run and Dulcich looked great on his 20yd TD catch straight up the middle untouched
RBs look adequate ... I'm not as high on Tracy as most and Skattebo is likely starting the season on the IR. I love Turbo Miller and the dimension that he adds to the RB room ... hope is #3 at least until Skattebo returns
- On defense the Dline was providing huge pressure as expected despite not having Dex in the game ... They completely shutdown the passing game. They mostly limited big running plays but the Jets were able to move the chains to easily at times . Love the use of Chatman as a fullback which will probaly help him stay. Carter got himself a very rude welcome to the NFL ... Absolutely laid out by the TE and immediately steamrolled by the RT on the same play https://www.si.com/nfl/abdul-carter-faced-brutal-welcome-to-nfl-moment-second-preseason-game

Dart has been more impressive than I would have imagined at this point. A lot of screens and some easier looks down the middle of the field, but to his credit he put most balls in the right spot. I still think the longer he sits this year, the more he benefits. No real reason to rush him in their current position. Building confidence from his preseason performance and allow him to learn from some vets from sideline until he is ready.

The only reason I would start him sooner than later is if he clearly looks better than the other two ... But i'm starting to think he does. His mobility is a big advantage

The mobility is a plus for sure, but long term I think his best bet is to sit at least half the year and learn. He put some good things on tape these last few exhibition games, but regular season is a different beast for a young QB. No need to rush it imo.

Dabell brought Dart in for one play in the middle of a Wilson drive ... I think they will do that throughout the season to get his feet wet.
That play resulted in the 30 yd catch and run from Theo Johnson ... Dart was pressured and dumped off to Theo using an improvised arm angle that we never saw from Jones

Actually just noticed Schmidtz got beat on that play resulting in pressure up the middle ... though he did get downfield to block so i guess it couldve have been by design

Wilson looked good.
Dart looked great.
And you gotta luv Winston.
Remember the days of Jones,Lock and Devito?
Seems so long ago.

Hope is a good thing, I want to see the Giants competitive again. Dline matches hype, oline stabilizes, Nabers stays healthy, McLaurin doesn’t sign, Dalllas implodes….there is a path to competiveness.

I know I know it's preseason!!! But I'm impressed as hell !!! 107 pts scored in 3 games (35 pts per game) 47 PA (15 per game) +60 pt diff
Vrabel looked pisssed and in disbelief
QB room is loaded ... HoF Veteran leadership, #1 pick in the Draft gunslinging talent with personality, and young stud 1st rd pick who looks better then all of them. Even Devito has developed into a legit BU / depth QB. He may actually have trade value.
TE room is loaded ... super impressed with this group ... Never mind solid vet Bellinger and athletic freak Theo Johnson, Dulcich and Fidone look awesome!
Run Defense which was a concern, and still is, allowed only 110 on 35 carries (3.1 yds per) with 7 TFL
Oline - continued to provide big pockets and all kinds of time ... Chatman continued to abuse LBs as a lead blocking FB
They look like a team that is really coming together with veteran presence and leadership, young talent and personality !

For once the Giants are going to have some very difficult decisions to make to get down to 53

Would love to see the Giants become competitive again and hope Dart is the answer. I still think his best shot at long term success is to sit as long as possible this season. I wanted to see some intermediate/deep throws outside the numbers, but most of preseason has been short and over the middle. Again, to his credit he has performed well this off-season and I his pocket presence seemed better than I anticipated. I do not think he is ready for live bullets yet and want to see an expansion of throws before I would feel confident going forward that he is the answer. But, positives are positives and he looked poised and in control of what he was asked to do which is a good start.

I only watched the first part of the game. Too many backups to make it must watch. But I mostly liked what I saw. Sadly Neal regressed a little. Not as strong of a night for him compared to last week.

Definite signs that the corner they need to turn is in sight at least. Maybe. Time will tell. I am not looking for wins. I am looking for competitiveness. Not the inept showings they've had the past few openers.

Giants have cut the following guys thus far:

LB: KJ Cloyd

CB: O’Donnell Fortune

C: Jimmy Morrissey

WR: Zach Pascal

LB: Dyontae Johnson

WR: Jordan Bly

OL: Jaison Williams

WR: Montrell Washington

Giants are the 8th team since 2009 to have a +60 or more pt differential in preseason
Of the previous 7 teams, 6 went to the playoffs and 2 won the SB

in one less game
So your saying there's a chance.
Its already done, lock it up. Tough schedule though so I dont think they'll host a playoff game
Winning the Super Bowl without hosting a playoff game? Hmmm. Nah. Wouldn’t accept it. Total fail of a season there…

Holy Crap ... Some shocking released players
DeVito
Elijah Chatman
Greg Dulcich
Tre Hawkins
Jake Kubas
Lil’Jordan Humphrey
Dante “Turbo” Miller,

As a lifelong Eagles fan, the Giants were #1 on my hate list until a few years ago (Cowboys now), but it's been a long time since Giants seemed like a true threat. You guys had a great draft and terrific off season. I'm very impressed not so much by all the scoring in the preseason, but by the vibe on that sideline, the excitement and enthusiasm they seem to have for each other. Dart looks fantastic, O line looks at worst capable, defense will be fine.
If it weren't for an absolutely brutal schedule this team could make some noise. If the team is competitive, and wins say 7 or 8 games, will they have the patience to stick with it and keep Daboll? They should. 7 or 8 wins would be a decent result given the schedule. Especially if the team keeps supporting each other the way they are now. What do you Giants fans think?

The NFCE will be better with a competitive Giants team. Wouldn't be surprised to see y'all give the Commanders fits in week 1. Dart looks like a keeper, fantastic poise and mostly good decisions

*******

I would have probably kept Dulcich and taken the , I presume, 26' draft pick for Bellinger.

Don't mind them cutting Devito. No, I take it back. I am elated they cut him. Dude scared no-one. Was a total pretender. Bummed to see Chatman on the list. And I like Dulchich too.
