Injured Reserve on ESPN/NFL.COM? (1 Viewer)

As a commish of our league, we are transitioning over to a keeper league and wanted to utilize the INJURED RESERVE aspect of Roster Management.

Does anyone have any advice/suggestions or care to share their experience on this topic?

((12 Team League - We will be keeping 2))

*How many IR Roster Spots would you suggest to have?

*Is there a minimum length a player must stay on the IR Roster Spot? (i.e. 2 weeks? 4 weeks?)

*Does either ESPN or NFL.COM have this capability?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

The problem with fantasy IR spots for anything other than keeper leagues is that the NFL injury report during the week is based on whether a player practiced or not. So it changes throughout the week, and it makes it difficult to come up with a rule for when someone can and can't be on IR, and can make it a pain for the commish to enforce.

If it's keeper or dynasty and you can limit it to just players on IR, then it's great and worthwhile and I use it in my dynasty league.

Even in our keep 4 league though we found it was enough of a pain that we just converted the IR slot to an extra roster spot and no one has missed it.

@GregR - Thank you for the response. You definitely bring up some valid points. The extra slot makes a lot of sense because you're right, so much of the NFL is a week-to-week and even a day-to-day type thing. The IR makes sense for actual players on IR.

Any other thoughts from other Sharks?
