Input on Trade Review (1 Viewer)

A trade came about in our league that was agreed to on Saturday by two owners.  We typically have a two day period for all other owners to vote on trades but due to the trade deadline and owners needing to set lineups for week 10, it was processed prior to league review. Key scoring piece of information is 1 PPR and team D only gets points for points against, not yards as well as the typical int/sack/fumble recovery and tds. The teams could have fielded lineups for yesterdays games with existing rosters.

Team 1 receives

  • Jags D
  • T Hill
  • A Kamara
Team 2 receives

  • Pats D
  • R Anderson
  • A Collins
I am interested to hear whether the sharks think this is a fair trade or not.

Looks pretty lopsided at first glance. Ravens backfield is about to get a bit more crowded and Robby Anderson is still boom/bust. Hill, Kamara and the Jags D are startable each week. Not sure on league format or records/rosters/needs for Week 10, but this deal has me scratching my head. Feels like Team 1 is giving his best players to Team 2 for peanuts.

Doesn't matter who the players werethat are involved in this trade it never should have been put thru prior to league review. You can't make up new rules in the 9th inning!

First you need to get rid of any trade reviews for your league.  This just causes more problems than they prevent and leads to situations exactly like you are in.  However, that cannot happen until after the season.  Prior to that you must follow the league rules in place and that includes a trade review.  I don't have any problem with trying to get the review done prior to the 2 days (who needs to wait two days) but the review does need to take place since it is in your rules.

I wouldn't make the trade if I was Team 2 however to each his own.  As long as no collusion is involved the trade should go through without an issue.

Hugely lopsided in favor of #1.  Veto worthy and I'm not a veto guy.

One reason for the deal would be if Team 2 was on the play-off fringe and needed to get Anderson into the line-up?  I can't even convince myself of that one.

League voting on trades is dumb, especially if most owners know each other.

Probably safe to assume this is not a keeper league and the league fee is like $10 - $25 per team. You can pretty much tell that by this trade alone. This happens in those type leagues.

However, you cant go changing rules in week 10 just because its late in the week. Also, it shouldn't take anyone more than 10 hours to see a trade and vote on it, 2 days is a little ridiculous.  I mean its fine if everyone voted on it before the 2 day period and pushed it through, but if even just one person didn't vote on it, then the full 48 hours should have to go by before being processed.

I am commissioner of my league, and i still review all trades, but I review the trades for one simple reason and that is to make sure the trade doesn't result in an illegal lineup minutes before lock time or just to make sure there wasn't any type of collusion (which will never be the case, same owners for the last 6 years now).

Don't hate on the guy getting Hill, Jags and Kamara, question the fella trading them away. In the offseason, bump your league fee to $100+, and/or add some keeper rules and you'll never see a trade like this again most likely. The only thing I do not allow is trading a draft pick in rounds 1-3 for the next season, and that's just because to keep the competitive balance each year and to avoid a wild wild west type situation. However, pre-draft any round pick can be traded.

If you trust your league as you stated there shouldn't be anything wrong with doing this.  Sometimes that is the best way to keep things going from year to year because it keeps peoples interest for the entire year.  It may even open up some trading which is always a good thing.

haha, I battle with keeping that rule in place every year, but since no one has a problem with it, I guess we just let sleeping dogs lie. In my baseball league there are no restrictions, and never any problems when first round picks are dealt. But we are now in like our 7th year in a row with the same 12 guys, and I added a championship belt two years ago to pass around to the winner each year. So if someone asked for a rule change on that, we would vote on the proposed rule change and see what happens. Honestly, we never have issues and my league pretty much just runs itself. I control very little.
