Internet Search - Discuss, Educate, Tell Stories (1 Viewer)

I've grown very lazy and rely on Google almost exclusively (I'll throw in an occasional Bing search just to humor myself).

Is this the best the Internet search has to offer? Is using Google Search akin to buying groceries at Wal-Mart? Is there a smarter way to search?

I don't know, I spend all my time mock drafting to keep up with my league mates.

If you want a placebo for "omg Google is watching and reporting my every move" you can search via duckduckgo.

wolframalpha is a pretty nifty tool.

Bing if you want better porn search.

But the worst, the w o r s t thing about it is that when they created Google+, they got rid of boolean searches on Google. You used to be able to search with boolean logic. "Show me all the pages with this term or that term, but not ever this term", or whatever, "+x || +y -x". Now it's some hamfisted kludge workaround that doesn't quite do the job, just because they needed to free up the "+" symbol for Google+.

Idiots.
How many people were actually using Boolean logic to search though?

Can't really blame google for getting rid of something 99.9% of people never used.

The only one I use is the "-" to exclude words if I'm getting too many junk results.

I am a big fan of using google and the "site:" functionality to search sites when the site itself has a horrible search function.
