I can only get #2.  Even with the hints.

same one for me.

but I know I know 5- I can visualize this scene, but not the actors (thought it was a Paul Rudd, but striking out there), and 6-8 are all super familiar.

1. The guy who makes salad dressings and  sauces was the mentor of Maverick in a sport with hard balls.

8. If you can’t get Neo then think Ted or John. That guy’s in a movie with a version one of those three first names, which is also part of the title. The other part of the title is a device that helps people remember things. It was kind of a bomb as a movie but I watched it as I read some of the works by that author.

OK, I can’t do anything more or I literally type out the title.

OK, got 1 & 8 now.

Had no idea #1 was a sequel.  I've only seen it once that I can remember.  Never seen #8 either.  Still no clue on 3-7.

Umm, I didn’t realize #1 was a sequel. I don’t think it was meant to be but I forgot Newman was in that old version which I never saw. For a minute I thought you thought the answer was that Top Gun 2.

This is definitely the hardest I can recall because the scenes aren’t very distinct or they are from movies I’ve never seen. I had seen 1, 2 and 8 and that’s it, I think.

I had never seen the original movie, but I knew it was a sequel.  Took a movie class in college for the credit and wrote a paper about the 2 movies, which forced me to watch it.

It absolutely was meant to be.  He plays the same character.

Depends on your definition. I mean it was a stand alone movie. I never saw the original but I don’t recall them referring to it at all. I liken it to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul or any spin off TV show. Same character but not really a sequel. For instance, Alien and Aliens has the same main character and non one else but it was clearly a sequel.

Better Call Saul is a prequel.  It is written from the timeline/pov of Saul before the Breaking Bad day.  But it is 100% related.

And there is not "depends on your definition" on The Color of Money.  Newman's character IS THE SAME PERSON, just much later in life.  That makes it a sequel, even if nothing from the original movie was actually mentioned.

Again, likely semantics but Better Call Saul IMHO is a spin off. Yes, it pre-dates but it isn’t a pure prequel. I think we are both right in how we think but Color of Money was IMHO a story about Cruise’s character with Newman as his advisor/mentor. Same character in both movies but kind of a same universe type of movie than what I’d think of as a pure sequel. I definitely get your point and I’m not arguing to argue but maybe my example of BCS and BB is too close in worlds. Maybe Cheers and Frasier is a better spin-off type show. Same character but the show stands on it’s own and if Cheers wasn’t around it wouldn’t have mattered. Aliens doesn’t make as much sense without Alien so definitely a sequel or Matrix 2/3 (ugh so much worse) without The Mattix. I don’t recall in Color of Money where we had some sort of reference to The Hustler that wouldn’t have made sense. Heck, I’d bet most of the people who watched it didn’t even know about the other and still don’t.

Man, I couldn't get the first 5 and thought I was gonna have a goose egg this week.  But, I knew 6-8.  Let me know if anyone wants a hint for one of those.

#1: Longtime FBG poster’s username came from this movie.

#5: Time travel movie.

Yeah, #1 is a comedy duo from SNL.

Only got the odd ones. Don’t know 6 or 8 even though they look familiar. 2 and 4 don’t look familiar at all.

Went back to least week where I only got three right and outside of Butterfly Effect, which I barely remembered that scene, never saw the others.

Got 1, 3, 5 & 7 out the gate.

#1 - "That. Was.  Awesome!!!!"

#3 - Odd couple type travel movie...one main actor is dead (but he is not in this scene)

#5 - a favorite sci-fi of mine with Tyler Durden (not in this scene)

#7 - this scene is the very end of the movie, the rest is not so green

#4 looks like an older movie....like 1960's or 70's quality wardrobe and cinematography.

Don't think I've seen #6 or #8.

Got #6 through reverse image search.

The actor in the scene played Dr. Watson alongside Downey's Sherlock.

And I was right...I have not seen that movie.

Got 6 from your actor and I’ve seen that movie a long time ago. I wouldn’t have guessed it from that scene without rewatching it. That movie is a set in the future movie and that scene doesn’t look futuristic.

#1084

1, 4, 8

hint for #1

John Cazale and Al Pacino that is NOT a Godfather movie

hint for #4

Arguably the only good movie in the DC franchise

hint for #8

Half of the movie title is shown in this scene

#2 should be pretty easy. For goodness sake, it's a football movie... kind of.
How would you know this one was a football movie? I saw this movie but never would have guessed it.

I should have gotten 4 right but I was lazy. Guessed Inferno and didn’t bother to find the full movie title.

hint for #2

That's Clooney holding Lynskey and McBride
That’s who I thought of first, just had to look up his airport movie.

#6

Charlize Theron is an assassin, used to be an animated show they played on MTV
Damn crappy spoiler tag, was thinking about that move and another one like it, Ultraviolet. I remembered liking those MTV shoes. Weren’t they shorts? Can’t recall what else went with them.

I feel like I know 5, maybe Julia Roberts.

7 was a trippy shark cage failure. Honestly, not sure if one or the other actually made it out at the end. Wasn’t a great movie.

5 was the same person in 6, not Julia Roberts but we’ll known, but working in a mine (holding a helmet). Thought it might be a nuclear thing with the yellow suit on the right but just a regular mine.

LiquidTV

Iirc, Beavis and Butt-Head started there too, as well as one of oldest and best friends shows.

I'm not the best at these but do enjoy them. That one I immediately knew what it was.

#1085

Only got 2 and 4.  But I know I've seen the scene from 1 before.  Maybe even in a prior invisible quiz.

Hint for 2:

The young un shown can really navigate a car

Hint for 4:

so there are rules during an apocolypse?

I got those right away too.

Dammit... I know 6. Recent comedy period piece at a convent. Argh. I'll never remember the name... but one of the actors might come to me- nobody big.

eta: 5 looks like one of the Harry Potters? 8 is killing me- looks really familar, as does "it's not Castaway" 7

Hint for 3:

Summer love at an unwanted summer carnival job. Yo la Tengo did the music. Director's kid is a classmate of FLoppinho.

7 is an old movie with a very young famous actress. Very famous back in the 80s. Think sex symbol. She was a brunette and I’m pretty sure he had blonde hair. Top Secret (Val Kilmer) had a character based on him.

The rest not mentioned above all seem familiar but not going to do any digging today.

@El Floppo with another terrible clue. My cousin’s FIL went to college with the executive producer doesn’t help.

wasn't a clue, skippy.  if the first two clues aren't good enough, who my son goes to school with obviously isn't going to help.

oh damn- that should've been an easy one. the obvious answer before Castaway came out.

In #5, the actress is British and married to the frontman for Mumford & Sons.

I'd never heard of the movie.

Don't think anyone has figured out #8.  It looks somewhat familiar, but internet research got me nowhere.
