iPad (1 Viewer)

And not answering my questions...
:lmao: You ignored my post and then asked me if I was insecure and if I knew your iPod collection. I guess my answers are no and no?
Didn't ignore your post, read it then asked you questions which you dodged.Seriously, what's up with the insecurity you have here? I buy anything and then start defending it, attack people, etc. it screams that deep down I'm unhappy with my purchase or I really NEED for others to fawn over what I have.I have an iphone, people can rip on it or not and I don't give a flip either way. I could be driving a 911 and people rip on it, so what? All that matters is whatever I have that I enjoy and not what other people think.

No.Apple laid it out there but many either are too stupid or probably too geared up to be the first to have the first ipad. Many people put in their orders w/o even seeing it liveSome people after picking it up act surprised/confused/pissed that the 3G was coming out soon and want/expected that their ipad should be able to have 3G. As if Apple kept this a secret.Surprised that people will buy something and then come across as pretty clueless in what they got. Don't they read the specs / news? I assumed that it was universally known that the main reason you buy a first generation Apple anything is to be the first to get it and damn will know that very soon the next upgrade is a lot better but clearly that's not the case with a number of people.
Do you realize how ridiculous you're sounding? Didn't your first crack at this 10 pages ago end badly enough? You're saying that there are "countless articles" and people in this thread that are the "clueless" ones. I haven't seen one thing about this imaginary clueless person you're talking about. And if you find some random dude on the internet, bravo. That's by far the exception. By far.
Just a heads up but you should try google before you run your mouth off

Goggins all along has been trying to make this point, I think, that Apple confused the public and so many people were upset because they were out there buying one version thinking they were buying another. Just bizarre.

Who exactly did this? You're making it sound like it's a widespread problem or something. I have no idea where you're getting that from. I've read a whole lot about the iPad, and I haven't once seen that issue come up other than from Walton Goggins from the internet.

And not answering my questions...
;) You ignored my post and then asked me if I was insecure and if I knew your iPod collection. I guess my answers are no and no?

You've said that the Apple store has a "scam" like return policy. I along with others showed how it's in line with many others. You've said that many out there are #####ing about the iPad 3G and how they didn't know about it when they had wifi. You called it an upgraded version. Many on here said it's not really an upgaded version (just an option/different version) and that everyone knew about 3G when wifi came out. You've been challenged to show all of these people you're talking about. And you didn't. You've also said that Apple upgrades its devices within a year of the release significantly (on purpose, by leaving stuff out of original releases) leaving people behind on the tech. Yet people pointed out how on the iPod Touch and iPhone not much has changed. If anyone is being insecure I think it's you about not having this device. I think I, along with others here have responded to your inane arguments as many would when seeing arguments thrown out by someone that are clearly flawed/make no sense. Have you read what you've written recently? Tbh, it's been 90% crap.

Nope. In this thread as well as countless articles people asked and seemed perplexed that the new 3G was coming out so quick and would their ipad be able to also have 3G as well.
I think you may have lost your mind. At least you have that Denise Milani thread going for you.
There were 30 or 40 posts in here from people complaining their wi-fi only iPad didn't have 3g. I think they all deleted their posts though, so don't bother looking for them.

From someone named Britney Spears you should know, right?
Walton, you know that's not his name right? (hint: this is just the innernet)

As far as I know, it's been people (myself included) that got the wifi, thinking they wanted just wifi and not 3g, and then considering 3G after seeing how they were using the device. This could happen way after both the wifi and wifi+3g are out. Has nothing to do with adopting early. This is nothing like what Walton is talking about.

:lmao: :lmao:

I would say the 3G version can do EVERYTHING the non 3G version and more so yes it's an upgrade.

You ever buy a car? Get certain packages (sport/sun/snow/etc.) it's an upgrade regardless if you need or want it. I could say I don't need the sport package because I hate driving fast but that doesn't mean it's not an upgrade.

Just because YOU don't want the 3G version has nothing to do with other people in this thread even who did after buying the first ipad. I don't know why you argue about this when you have nothing to do with it. Insecure? What's the deal Chunk?

Goggins I don't think anyone knows what the hell you're talking about here. Can you post some links? And I'm not talking about a solitary link to a solitary person on a message board who didn't know what Wifi or 3G were. I mean a link to this widespread issue you keep telling us about.

Jailbreak Apps:

Brackgrounder is somewhat useful

SBSettings is sweet -- swipe over the status bar and it puts up a little box with quick access to a lot of system functions you might use (brightness, enabling/disabling wifi and bluetooth, etc).

Winterboard, recommended above, isn't iPad-compatible

FakeCarrier lets you change the text displayed where it says the cell carrier name. Changed it to OTIS, obviously.

Sysinfoplus gives you all kinds of system info

So far this is all I got in terms of interesting jailbreak apps.

:lmao: Christ this guy is annoying. Jim11 and him would make a cute-ish couple.

None of us are claiming we didn't understand the difference between the two. This is such a bizarre issue you are pushing, I still don't quite understand it.

You said there were countless in this thread and in articles online that had the Wifi iPad and were pissed to find out that it didn't have 3G. I haven't heard of one of these types of people. Care to show some off? You're acting that there are countless of them out there.ETA: whats your deal with the insecure shtick? I've said over and over: I'm responding/giving you time because this is just an inane argument that shouldn't go untouched.

I'm also totally confused about the mythical ppl that Goggins is referring. I've read the entire thread and cant recall anyone who got the Wifi only version only to find out and be pissed that the 3G version was coming out 1 month later.

How many times are the haters gonna get themselves owned in here? It's like they're lining up to jump off the cliff and can't get there fast enough. I mean, I get that we're all annoying on both sides of the fence, but jesus.

I'm sure there are quite a few people out there who assumed every iPad would be 3G enabled and bought a wifi one. However, to suggest people in this thread weren't aware of the difference is ludicrous.

I'm really miffed that my iPad isn't blue. I specifically insisted when I was at the store that I wanted the blue model. What a ripoff.

Oh and all of my friends are pissed that the ones they got didn't come in colors.

Apple better not come out with a blue one...

I'm sure when you sell over a million of anything, you'll have "quite a few people" who are confused.

You've been on this board from virtually the start, you're more than welcome to sift through the 50+ pages.Seriously, why do you interject yourself into everything when it has zero to do with you? If I address you then counter all you want but why do you think anyone who posts in here is talking remotely about you?

What do you guys that use it on the go keep your iPad in? A backpack, briefcase, messenger bag, laptop bag?

It seems fragile.

Countless people. Countless. Think about that.

Time for this week's updated rankings....

***OFFICIAL*** Coach Otis' Annoying iPad Hater Rankings

1. Goggins (Rising)

My, what a rush up the charts. Has anyone ever gone from 0 to 60 this quickly? In our prior rankings, we noted that Goggins had come out of the gates strong but had shown waning interest in recent weeks, which was we he was initially ranked so low. The G-man didn't disappoint though, as he responded some time later that he was away on vacation, and that's why he hadn't been so annoying in here. And now that he's back, he's been tearing up the scene. He's still not as grating as some of the other Hateboi's here, but we are left so perplexed by his bizarre and unfounded claims regarding consumer confusion (including regarding alleged confusion by posters in this very thread) that we simply couldn't resist putting him at the top. Oh, that smell of smoke? That's Gogs furiously pounding away at his keyboard trying to Google search for any minor bit of information that might support his ridiculous off-the-cuff claims.

2. LokiKx (Neutral)

Loki remains in neutral. He is still a horrifically boring alias drummed up to post only in Apple threads, and he still regularly pops in to post unfunny and tired jokes about the iPad being a crappy product or having a funny name. <insert that one picture that we've totally never seen before of the guy holding an iPhone under a magnifying glass to make it look like an iPad> Don't let the million+ buyers confuse you. This thing is junk. Still way up there in the post count, and remains in neutral, ol' faithful. I mean, if you have to create an alias specifically for this purpose, you really do deserve to be in the top 5 indefinitely, no? Around here, effort matters.

3. The Commish (Falling)

After taking an absolute beating about the misinformation he had posted, and one of the more epic backpedals the FFA computer geeks have seen in recent history, Commish skulked into the corner and has since quieted down. We're hoping he's got a second wind, but until he really brings his A game again, he'll be relegated to being considered one of the less annoying haters, and his stock will continue to slip as a result. Don't count him out just yet though!

4. gmbacm (Neutral)

Continues to ease back on the throttle, and doesn't poke in here often enough to be terribly annoying. But, when he posts, you just know it either won't make much sense or will be in some way unsatisfying. We'll leave him in the top 5 on that basis alone.

5. Card Trader (Falling)

An early frontrunner continues to fall, and continues to make rational, sensible postings that are grounded in logic and surprisingly un-annoying. At this electrifying pace, CT is likely to fall right off the bottom of the chart in our next ranking.

That's all for today folks -- see you next week.

Just the Apple case. I carry it in one hand at my side (like you would carry a book to class). Probably not the most protection, but I like to travel light. On the days when I have my work messenger bag with me, it goes in there.

Don't get mad at me. You're the one in here posting absurdities.

:censored: Was it really far fetched to think the iPad had a usb port? I guess it could have been worse. I could have thought Apple was going to be putting flash in their env in a later release.

Wrong as usual. My post count will fall because I have just started ignoring your very, very, very lame postings such as this one.

What do you guys that use it on the go keep your iPad in? A backpack, briefcase, messenger bag, laptop bag?

It seems fragile.
I use the standard Apple case (which I love because of who slim it is) and either carry it around like a book or put it in my laptop backpack (in the cushioned area). But the only places I really use it outside the house is at a coffee shop. I do agree that without a case, it seems quite fragile. But once you get a good case on it, it's just fine.

Don't get mad at me. You're the one in here posting absurdities.
Mad ? WTF? Curious

Apologies if this has been covered here, but I stopped reading for several pages because the fanboy-hater flame war got boring.

Anyway, I have a PC running Windows Home Server 2003 and I'd like to use an Ipad to access video, music, ebook, and other files stored on the server. Does anyone know if that is possible?

I'm willing to bet in the next few weeks I climb back up the charts, afterall the WeTab and Archos 7 were just released
I bet I can pretty much place my ranking 1 - 5 anytime I want. Say a few key words got me to #1 in about 10 minutes

What's funny is that I don't even have an ipad and have put forth more insightful and relevant information regarding the ipad than Chunk and Oat.

You would think for people who have the product they could add something to this 50+ page thread.

OK, it looks like it will work with video. I guess I can get the other stuff onto the Ipad via Itunes or something like that.Does anyone want to try to talk me into getting a big hard drive? I anticipate keeping most of our files on the server and then grabbing them when I want them, so I think a 16 GB version would be enough for us. Is that crazy?

Nope. In this thread as well as countless articles people asked and seemed perplexed that the new 3G was coming out so quick and would their ipad be able to also have 3G as well.
Who was perplexed? From what I can tell, there were a couple of different types of people who bought this thing from the beginning. 1) Didn't want 3G. Bought Wifi. Happy with wifi/magical device.2) Didn't want 3G. Bought Wifi. After playing with wifi, realized 3G would be useful. But you're saying there is a third group:3) Didn't know about 3G. Bought Wifi. Found out about 3G later. Perplexed/pissed off. There were no #3s in this thread. There are no articles about #3. But congrats on finding one somewhere out on the internet though. That's the same place where Jim11, Tosberg and Loki are from -- not exactly the type you use to make your point.
Why do you come across as so insecure? If I go buy one I could give two ####s what anyone else has to say about it unless deep down I regretted buying it. You do know I have an iphone/nano/ipod, right Chunk?
 :lmao: :lmao: Holy freakin' Bwah! is Goggins melting once again.

 :lmao: :lmao: The only thing you're adding is the moron quotient here.

Wrong as usual. My post count will fall because I have just started ignoring your very, very, very lame postings such as this one.
LOL at "I ignored the post of yours that I read and responded to.""And yet here you are!" -shuke

Yes. There's an app for that.

I found the 32GB size pretty adequate. As it stands I've got almost 4 GB worth of apps alone on mine. I'm not sure I'd want to head down to 16GB. I don't think you'll regret 32.
