iPad (2 Viewers)

thoughts on 16gb vs 32gb? worth getting the extra space?
Id say yes. If you want to store any media at all on the thing you will find yourself juggling a lot. When I travel I throw a bunch of movies/tv shows on there. Plus my current apps. 16 just wouldnt cut it.

Buy on the rumor, sell on the news, has started. Apple shares down.
Anyone selling this stock right now is making an error. This thing is gonna sell moatloads!
Agree. Buying opportunity. They are announcing the long slow decline and death of the PC.
The stock has gone from 370 to 530 in a couple months. I dont think it's a buying opportunity.Probably the worst possible time to buy is right now when it's gone straight up for two months.

It's back up a bit. I'm thinking (hoping) the rumor movement just happened earlier than normal; the stock run up to $550 on rumors and then fell back last week going into the reveal.

so

1st feature: awesome display

2nd feature: awesome camera

3rd feature: video recording

4th feature: voice recognition

5th feature: 4g
Yep. And Quad Core Processor (unless they back down off that but that's what everyone's reporting) ATT only LTE Version.
The A5x is the same dual core processor as the A5 except it has a quad core GPU.
So what's that mean? Same speed as ipad2, but better graphics? Did I miss the RAM spec?

When it went from 380 to 440 in a month, it must have been a bad time to buy, too. Oh wait...

I gotta disagree. Apple has shown absolutely no signs of weakness and 2012 is shaping up to be one of the most impressive ever in terms of the products they are releasing. I predict atleast a $650 stock price when the first quarterly report after the 2012 Christmas season is released.

my phone records in 1080p video, and I can view it on my phonehowever if I convert a video I can't do it in 1080p...Does the phone know it recorded the video and how to internally convert it?Is the IPAD similar or true 1080p. Not sure I really care about 1080p on a tablet to be honest just trying to understand the features
I'm pretty sure the video it shoots is true 1080p that can be put off onto your Mac/CPU and edited, or edited on the device in iMovie.
Question number 2 for me. Wouldn't it be better for me to get a wi-fi only IPAD and use my mobile hotspot on my verizon phone?
That would most certainly work. iF you have a phone with a healthy data plan and tethering then it makes little sense to pay for the data plan on the device too.

My dilemma as well. My 16gb iPhone4 is damn near full, so I think 32gb for a device I will use more for movies and i/ebooks is probably necessary.
I would personally spend the extra on the 32GB. With the extra resolution I gotta think apps will get bigger and bigger, not to mention HD video and photos... etc.
:goodposting: My 32GB iPhone is full. Wish I had spent the extra $100 on a 64GB model.

Won Nor Cal Rookie of the Quarter at my job. (Get an iPad & cash bonus)

Boss just texted to preorder it.

Anyone know when that begins?

In the past when placing an X on a processor Apple has signified it is overclocked. A5 for Ipad2 was actually underclocked to save battery IIRC.

"The new iPad". Tim obviously didn't like the negative press after releasing the iPhone 4S instead of the iPhone 5. Guessing we see "the new iPhone" instead of the iPhone 5 come fall.

Pretty much as expected. No surprises.

I'll be ordering the 32GB version tonight for my wife (my 2 yr old gets the iPad 1).

This was my thought as well. Don't really like the standardized naming conventions though. Creates some confusion in the marketplace IMO.

True and I think the numbers may help sales a little. Some people are going to want the highest number. It's worked for the iPod Touch that has never been numbered.

Going to make the accessory market more confusing, that's for sure. Same thing happened with the scroll-wheel iPods, they were just differentiated by generation number, which most people didn't know or remembered.

noob question: i take it "tethering" means using like an iPhone 3/4 as the 3G access for an iPad that is WiFi only?

thanks. Not sure how it affects my data plan but i'm not far yet into the process.I would probably never shoot video with it, was just confused how my phone does it.Thanks again

How is this not a 'wow'? It delivered on every single request people were making.
Not quite. I'm still buying it, but lets at least be honest. Realistic or not, there were several rumors out there that didn't come to fruition. Part of that is Apple being a victim of their own success. But part of that is due to the hype they and their fanboys create.

Exactly. Problem is Apple is under such a media microscope so it becomes impossible to completely control the flow of information leading up to an event. Too many manufacturing partners leaking information so everything is basically "known" before it is officially unveiled.

Well for starters, it's bigger than a sheet of paper, doesn't have an 8core processor, doesn't have 1TB Flash memory, and there's no 128MP Camera. Plus it doesn't read your mind and STILL won't support mobile flash. Duh!

Which rumors did they miss on? The touch screen that changed textures? Or maybe the edge to edge, magnet locking, display expanding, holographic projector features? Please they hit everything a sane person expected. This isn't Star Trek.....yet.

Apple sent exactly one email invitation to the press leading up to this event. How exactly is that "hype"? Let's be honest here, Tommy. The hype isn't from Apple or even the fanboys, it's from the media and bloggers that live off of page views and channel ratings.

Apple doesn't wow at launch. Go back and see what they said about the iPod at launch. Go back and see what they said about the iPhone at launch. Go back and see what they said about the iPad at launch. In every case, the press and the experts said: Meh. It was the consumer buying it, that signaled: WOW!
