This will happenIran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
Israel has been vocal that they will retaliate for any attack.Iran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
Israel is done with being threatened and attacked. They will do the same thing to Iran that they are doing to Hamas and Hezbollah.Iran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
I suspect Iran may see a bit less oil exports going forward.Israel has been vocal that they will retaliate for any attack.Iran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
It will be interesting to see. Over recent history the US has enriched Iran and supported their buildup, if indirectly. It's likely that the US will call for peace and Israel will ignore that - as they have been lately.Prepare to get dragged in America.
They can run this many wars at once?Israel is done with being threatened and attacked. They will do the same thing to Iran that they are doing to Hamas and Hezbollah.Iran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
It's been going since roughly 635 when the first Caliphate conquered Jerusalem. This will never end
Obviously Israel is not going to let it go this time. Nor should they. This is a very good opportunity for Israel to destroy or set back Iran's nuclear program, which is something that they were probably looking for an excuse to do anyway.I think Israel should just let it go, but this part seems super unlikely.

Hamas isn't really a fighting force at this point. I'm sure they'll remain active as a guerilla organization for a while, but it's not as if they threaten Israel in any way.
Hezbollah has no ability to do anything right now.
Iran's military is not in the same class as Israels. I don't think they have any ability to get planes into Israeli airspace, and a ground attack is completely out of the question.
As long as we're supporting them, sure. They can run this many wars at once?Israel is done with being threatened and attacked. They will do the same thing to Iran that they are doing to Hamas and Hezbollah.Iran seems to say they are done, unless Israel responds.
I knew NATO had expanded, but I didn't realize it had gone that far.Prepare to get dragged in America.
Kind of begs the question that if Israel is no longer being threatened by Hamas and Hezbollah - why to they continue to attack?Yes, easily. They can run this many wars at once?Israel is done with being threatened and attacked. We have been dragged in this for about a year. Ok, "dragged" isn't the right wordPrepare to get dragged in America.

It seems like this will do more long-term harm, than short-term good - and, at this point, its mostly (but not all) innocent civilians who are suffering the consequences.
The appropriate response is a sustained air campaign to take out as many Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile facilities as possible. That's probably what Israel wanted to do in the first place, and I'm sure they have detailed plans in place for exactly this sort of campaign.I write this without trying to start a fight - but Iran is apparently done with its retaliation and Israel said it doesn't know of any fatalities. It seems, therefore, that this was kind of a performative attack by Iran to save face.
As a result, what's the appropriate response by Israel? I hope something equally performative.
Obviously if there is more damage than appears and people have died, that would change things.

The first attack was clearly performative, I'm not sure about this one. Last time they used some slow drones that were easy to shoot down. This time ballistic missiles. Seems like they were actually trying to get some through this time.
I'll guess ports and pipelines.
It's nice that Iran thinks it's done retaliating, but you don't launch hundreds of ballistic missiles at another country's capital unless you expect an open war. They'll probably get exactly that, is my guess.
Israel is going to do what they want to do, but they are going to try to drag the US along. We support their defense and their fight against terrorism. If they go full on offensive attacks, I don't know what the US does at that point. We have a very weird relationship with Iran. The appropriate response is a sustained air campaign to take out as many Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile facilities as possible. Sure, till someone launches a nuke or worldwide energy markets get permanently disrupted. We should let them all fight each other and we should sell 90s/00s era military stuff to both and make a ton of money.
Agreed. It's always "someone else's problem" until oil prices skyrocket.Sure, till someone launches a nuke or worldwide energy markets get permanently disrupted. We should let them all fight each other and we should sell 90s/00s era military stuff to both and make a ton of money.
At least in the case of Iran we just send them planeloads of cash.We should let them all fight each other and we should sell 90s/00s era military stuff to both and make a ton of money.
Yep.Israeli Ambassador just responded to USA leaderships response to recent attacks. Dude. Was. Not. Happy. I agree. I say this with 3 combat ribbons. I feel it gives me some latitude. Who the hell do we think we are? It's mind boggling. They are at war, yet we continue to feed the press this idea that we have the correct path they should take. It's so arrogant. Imagine after 9/11, while we are responding, if Turkey is like, "Well, you need to cease fire and be respectful." It's laughable. All my opinion of course
Not the same- Turkey wasn't supplying a large portion of the munitions and equipment to the US to fight that war. Imo that matters and we should be able to tell them wtf to do with them and that they should not escalate.Israeli Ambassador just responded to USA leaderships response to recent attacks. Dude. Was. Yes. We are in a very interesting relationship with Israel. I get it. Not JUST supplying them with "large portion of munitions " like you said. That's almost secondary, We have countless military research contracts we partner in. They are our ally. 100%. Having said that, it goes both ways. Does this allow Israel to dictate our foreign policy? Not the same- Turkey wasn't supplying a large portion of the munitions and equipment to the US to fight that war. Not directed at you. At all. My last comment on topic. One day I'll learn.
Yeah, kind of like that, which they are now trying to do with rockets that have longer and longer ranges. At the end of the day this stuff makes waaaaay too much money for people so we are always going to be in this situation, and it's one of my least favorite things we do as a country.Just like we tell Ukraine not to use US donated munitions to strike Moscow. Not the same- Turkey wasn't supplying a large portion of the munitions and equipment to the US to fight that war. To be fair, I don't think the US should be "giving" Israel arms. They can pay for them if they want to buy from the suppliers and we allow export.

The US has a vested interest in containing a volatile situation. We have some leverage over Israel given the amount of aid, financial and militarily, that we provide. Leadership requires that someone lead.
Israel are at war by their own choice - there have been several off-ramps to deescalate. Israel has chosen to push forward - as is their prerogative. We still need to bring pressure to bear on all sides - and we apply pressure to Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah by our continued support of Israel - to bring this matter to a conclusion that everyone can live with.
