Really hard to answer. I have travelled quite extensively and there are things about other countries that I feel are better and would make me want to move there if I could in a second.

USA is a 5 Tool Prospect with +average everything.
Most other countries are like Giancarlo Stanton and are awesome at 1 or 2 things but strikeout all the time otherwise.

Depends on what you're looking for out of life IMO.

lol

I've traveled all over and think there are many things that other countries do better than us but this is my home and when it comes down to it, I'm just a fat, lazy American.

This is a pretty good analogy I think.

Maybe should've included a second question: Is it possible to make an informed judgment on this topic if one hasn't traveled to many other countries?

America is an idea. We are the greatest country in world history because in general we have subscribed to that idea throughout our history. Whenever we stray from that idea we are less great.

The idea is free and open immigration to whoever wants to come.

jesus christ tim. Can't wait for this to turn into a Trump thread now.

So basically it's yes, no, I don't know, or the question is unanswerable. I suspect there are as many different opinions on how one defines the question as there are opinions of which country is best. Feel free to explain what the question means to you as you answer. Or be a bunch of ####### dip####s about it, this is the FFA after all

How do we treat our poor compared to others?   I guess we are not greatest there but guessing rich love it here, as they would most places poor havent revolted.

Best place to enjoy a corn dog, Popsicles, and freedom fries.

answered 3 in thepoll cuz I think some other countries are better at stuff that is important to me. (Except for the Popsicles). It's very subjective

Slightly disagree with your premise. In general, although there is an income gap in our country that may be troubling, when we're comparing to 196 other countries, poor in America is typically much better than poor in 150-160 other countries.  In large part, poor in America means you only have 1 plasma TV,, maybe basic cable, a 94 Corolla, and 2 iPhones, netflix without the streaming option in the family with maybe only 10 mbps upload speeds.  We do a very good job of taking care of our poor in juxtaposition to other countries.

Nice post.  I agree, although I'm not a resident of LA & have no inside experience

Except for the "most" part. A lot of countries are awesome at one or two things. But most countries aren't awesome at anything. A lot of countries are ####-holes. Otherwise, it's a pretty good analogy.

Man, you sure have something against the rich or well off.  Whatever, they are always a good target.
Have you ever watched the documentary Inside Job?  Have you made decision choices for 20 people and every year the cost goes up and coverage down?  Have you ever dealt with a financial advisor that recommends funds with high expense ratios?  Banks collapsed the middle class on cdos no one paid.  I want change.

Yes, I have traveled and the USA is the best, and yes I have watched a lot of football and the New Orleans Saints are the best. I bleed red white and blue and black and gold.

They don't give medals for being awesome in infant mortality

I've been to most of the countries people might say are better or close.  I think what separates the United States with those places is our incredible geographic diversity.  Mountains, beaches, desert, woods, lakes, oceans, we have everything.  All the other countries with those bountiful natural gifts are not in the range of the U.S.

But I think that is the difference, all the other stuff can be debated and there are a lot of countries that are just as good  or better as far as lifestyle, political atmosphere, organization, and quality of life.

Put it this way, here are the other countries I would voluntarily live in:

Germany (lived in already), Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Italy (lived in already), Denmark, Netherlands, Australia (never been), New Zealand (never been), Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, and France.

If you had to pick two, which would go to?
