Is Andy Reid calling the offensive plays again? (1 Viewer)

When Reid turned over the offensive play calling last year, the run/pass mix got a lot more evenly distributed. Now it's back to being way out of whack again. By my count, the Eagles called passing plays on 51 of their 69 plays. (I assumed that pass plays were called on McNabb's runs). That means that the Eagles were throwing the ball a whopping 74% of the time!! They averaged 5 yards per passing play called and 5.5 per running play called.

On each of the 4 FGs that the Eagles settled for as well as the turnover on downs at the end of the game, the Eagles threw the ball on at LEAST 2 downs. In fact, on 2 of the 4 FGs, the Eagles passed on all 3 downs and on the turnover on downs, the Eagles passed on all 4 downs.

It's like Reid would rather throw the ball and lose than run the ball and win.

I agree that they would probably be better off with a little more of a balanced attack but I don't think you can assume they would run at the same ypc clip if they ran more frequently. The reason the running lanes are so wide open is because the defense is expecting a pass (which 75% of the time they're right).

Andy Reid is a moron. The past two weeks the offense has looked like it did before T.O. got there and they started throwing the ball down the field. The Eagles were PAINFUL to watch back then with all the dinks and dunks, and that's how they've looked the first couple of weeks.

Was there anyone open to throw to? Then when they do get open they can't catch the ball or McNabb overthrows them.
I know Jaws was watching McNabb's back last night but McNabb was far worse than the wr's. Curtis was open quite a bit but McNabb couldn't hit anyone in stride last night. On the one review when the Eagles were on about the 10 Jaws was pointing out how everyone was so covered up and he ended up dumping off a little pass to Westy in the middle, Tapeh was WIDE OPEN standing by the left sidelines with no one within 10 yards of him. He could have walked in if McNabb spotted him. McNabb is just rusty at this point.

The WRs weren't getting consistent separation, but McNabb made some horrendous throws. At least four were way too high and otherwise would've been easy completions for long gains, another in the corner of the endzone was a TD that McNabb would make 9 out of 10 times; yet he sailed it wide left, and that throw deep downfield into triple coverage

Right now I'm not sure what's been more disappointing, McNabb's play or Andy's play-calling.

It has to be the play calling. McNabb is coming of an injury that is not healed all the way, he is likely rusty, and has little in the way of WR weapons, yet STILL they insist on passing the ball all the time. As a cowboys fan, nothing makes me happier than looking at a box score and seeing McNabb with 60 attempts. he eagles are a great team when they are balanced, when they are not they are beatable.

This may have all been a mute point had Curtis caught the ball that hit him in the hands to finish the game.

If you wanna talk about horrendous play calling, Scott Linehan (Rams) is the top vote getter in my opinion.

Maybe Curtis would have caught the ball on the out he ran the play before if the ball had been in the same zip code. The play calling (obviously Andy's sausage fingerprints all over it AGAIN), & the execution by both the receivers and the quarterback all sucked. The lone bright spots on the offense were Westbrook (best player on the team by far) and Avant.

That was an awful pass...I couldn't agree more.

:goodposting: Exactly. It would be nice if he actually called a play that involves it being in the endzone. Like for example, a pass attempt that is over the goaline. I mean really, they got inside the 10 yd line against the Packers and threw 3 straight swing passes to the backs and much of the same against Washington! I wish he would let his off cord do his job. At this point it can't hurt.
