Is benching Manning stupid? (1 Viewer)

Okay,

Here is the deal. This week I play one game to decide who is the overall champion of the league. I am at 9-3 and my opponent is at 8-3-1. He leads me in points for, which would ultimately be the deciding factor.

This is a PPR league and very QB heavy (1 pt/rec, 1pt/10yards passing). I have been riding Manning all year and needless to say, he has been stellar. The guy I am playing has Harrison on his roster, and though it may seem silly, I started to think to myself, would it really harm starting Romo instead? I mean what do I have to lose? (well, besides the overall league best record...lol)

Any feedback would be great. Again, I am not trying to start a WDIS. It is more of a strategy question.

Thanks in advance.

Peace

Which definition strategy is this?

Strategy-wise, always start the players you expect to have more points. Opponents lineup shouldn't matter one way or the other. If you think Romo will score better than Peyton, make the move.

That said, the corollary is always start your studs. Do you have a viable option that would be better than Peyton? There are very few studs IMO but Peyton is one, just because of his ability to go off for 350 and 3 TDs on anyone. I would be starting him every week, unless he was on bye or my backup was extremely high quality.

You look like a genius if the scores go like last week, but if Manning tosses 3 to Harrison and MBIII scores on 2 short rushes instead of 2 GL options, it's not so good.

Some clown in my league benched Manning and started Brad Johnson about a month ago. Needless to say, it didn't work out so good. The guy who beat him only managed to win by 10 points so the move definitely cost him a win. Making matters more frustrating, the beneficiary of that gift win is currently tied with me for the division lead going into the final week of regular season.

So .. to answer your question .... yes, benching Manning would be incredibly stupid.

Poorly disguised WDIS.....Now here is a strategy question....I am 9-3 and play a team 8-3-1.....the league will ultimately be determined by total points because why?You guessed it...in all liklihood I will tie my opponent next week....

okay, there is always somebody in the bunch...it was not a poorly disguised WDIS start question...I always start Manning and was just thinking outside the box, so give me a break.

get off your high horse and relax....you are not the message board cop.

Peace

Yes. It is stupid.

Romo only has 5 games in the league. He will at some point have a poor game with that little experience. Manning NEVER has those games. Manning is always good for at least 200 and 1 td, at a minimum. Manning is by far the more consistent play.

Romo already had a bad game statistically against the Colts. 0 td's and 1 int but the Cowboys won the game, i guess thats a push.
