When I think of Top 5 Mcnabb, Hasslebech,The Manning's and Palmer come to mind.i am sitting hasslebeck vs CHI for Frye so that means frye will suck big time
i dont think he is top 5 but a better start then Hass vs CHI or so I am hopingWhen I think of Top 5 Mcnabb, Hasslebech,The Manning's and Palmer come to mind.i am sitting hasslebeck vs CHI for Frye so that means frye will suck big time
I'm going with yes, Frye will be a top 5 fantasy QB, but only because this thread would only get bumped if he is.
No.That's all I have to say.![]()

WOOOO!I love this freakin' thread! Charlie Frye will be the #1 overall QB. In fact, he will break all of the passsing and QB rushing records this season.Mark it down:5,500 yards passing, 50 TD's passing 1,100 yards rushing and 12 rushing TD's.Screw top 5, this guy will be the greatest of all times!
I'd like too say no, but if tragedy struck every other QB in the league, and it ended up being a Super Bowl between Charlie Frye and Tim Couch, I'd feel pretty stupid.
I think you are shortchanging him a bit. Frye is already on pace for 16 rushing TDs.Lemmiwinks said:WOOOO!I love this freakin' thread! Charlie Frye will be the #1 overall QB. I'm starting him over Eli this week in a 2 QB league.![]()
There are people on this board who actually believe this guy is a top 5.
Charlie is tough as hell! Hes got a great rapport with Winslow and Edwards, they work out and hang out together. I think this type of connection goes a long way.The Browns will not be stellar this year but they will be tough. Yes they are 0-3 but the three losses came against teams that are a combined 9-0. With Droughns back we will see te real Browns his week.Essentially the Browns are starting 3 rookies at skill positions. So to answer the question, yes Frye is the answer in CTown but only because all the parts are gonna grow together. He is nowhere near top 5 this year but as the season progresses he will get better. Next year he might hit top 7. The good thing about him is hes not afraid to take a chance but smart enough hold on to the ball or throw it away. Scrambling and chucking it deep to Moss is what made CPep famous, and Charlie is able to and will do the same thing(a la first play from scrimmage, busted play saw Bray goin long .....TOUCHDOWN.....called back).West coasters will get a chance to see the future in action this week and I would suggest watching and making your own decision. Can anyone give me some info on this guy. I dont think he will be top 5, but how does he rate as a future prospect. They seem to have pretty good weapons for him. Next year they will get Bentley back, Joe Jurevicous will be back, and they should have a good shot at getting a decent draft pick to build on that o-line. Is Charlie Frye the answer in Cleveland? Looking for people who have had a chance to watch him play. From what I have read he is a great leader who is tough as nails. I dont know much about his skillset though. Thanks

As far as MAC QB's go my list would be...1. Pennington - he's not hurt anymore2. Roethliberger - they'll run more not less3. Frye - he's like a mini brett farve, but he doesn't take as many risks and runs better.4. Leftwich - The Daunte Culpepper of 20065. Gradkowski- raw potential he could be something, but not this year.Frye is a top 5 MAC QBs for sure:1. Roethlisberger2. Pennington3. Leftwich4. Frye5. Gradkowski

Thanks for your take. It took 33 posts before someone actually brought some insight to this thread. I used to love the Shark Pool but it's become so damn juvenile lately. I haven't seen Frye play (or the Browns for that matter), but I look at his numbers and I think his rushing TD's are grossly inflating his value. Can that last? Is he that mobile? His passer rating is near the bottom of the pile among NFL starters. It's only been 3 games and maybe I'm missing something because I haven't seen him play. It would appear he's overrated based on those rushing numbers.Charlie is tough as hell! Hes got a great rapport with Winslow and Edwards, they work out and hang out together. Oak has played SD (one of the best Running teams in the league who were looking to protect their QB in his first start)and the Ravens ..... who were playing conservative due to the fact that Oak could not move the ball on their D I have watched both Oak's games.Oakland will move the ball and they will score on CLE. This should be a high scoring game due to both D's being horrible. CLE has not been able to run the ball at all this season and will be forced to pass due to the frequent scoring of OAK....THATS RIGHT.....the frequent scoring of OAK (I also might add...Im not a fan of either team)For those of you starting Frye over other QBs this week: FWIW, Oakland is second in the league in terms of fewest passing yards allowed per game (117 per game.) That is probably due to the fact that teams could easily afford to just run over them all day long, but it doesn't mean that Frye is automaticly positioned for a huge game. Just something to consider.
I think the Cleveland D is underrated. Can you expound on why you think the OAK offense (with a first time starting QB) will light up the scorecard? Not being sarcastic, just curious.Oak has played SD (one of the best Running teams in the league who were looking to protect their QB in his first start)and the Ravens ..... who were playing conservative due to the fact that Oak could not move the ball on their D I have watched both Oak's games.Oakland will move the ball and they will score on CLE. Three reasons really:1) They have had 2 weeks to game plan2) They will get the running game going 3) This will open up play action - Deep Pass to Randy Moss (Walter looked 10 times better than brooks against the ravens, Walter has a very stong arm, and Moss, Moss, Moss who on the Browns can actually cover Moss?I think the Cleveland D is underrated. Can you list the 49 other QBs that you have ranked ahead of him please?I'd say he's the 50th best............in Cleveland.
I would think top 12 would be a huge accomplishment compared to where people were viewing him in preseason. GO CHARLIE!Nope. Not even top 12.

1) this is true2) I'm not so sure about this. Lewis started out well and then got shut down in the second half. The Ravens running game and oline are much better than Oaklands.3) if #2 doesn't happen niether will #3.The Browns will blitz often on Walter. If Shell is still going with 5 or 7 step drops Watler will get killed before the receiver even breaks his route. If Shell is still trying to run that putrid offense, oakland gets crushed.Three reasons really:1) They have had 2 weeks to game plan2) They will get the running game going3) This will open up play action - Deep Pass to Randy Moss (Walter looked 10 times better than brooks against the ravens, Walter has a very stong arm, and Moss, Moss, Moss who on the Browns can actually cover Moss?
