Is Chris Johnson a first rounder next year? (1 Viewer)

I think he will go some where in the 2nd in most drafts but I think he's going to have a big year this season. Even if they don't get Manning to help open up some running lanes, the Titans have already made one major upgrade to the OL by signing Hutch. I think a good run blocking guard is to a RB what a good LT is to a QB. I'm expecting much better consistency out of Johnson. I was very down on him going into last off season and sold him in a few dynasty leagues. I'm looking to buy him back now if the price isn't too steep
Didn't the Titans go into last season with the reputation of having really good O and D lines? Just asking because I keep seeing people addressing this like "we fixed our problem, the line" but from what I remember, I thought that was supposedly the strong suit of the team.If that is correct and I do remember correctly, then I think we have to look and say it was something else and to be honest, I think that something else is that CJ is just a bit over rated. He is a fast guy that gets a lot of attention and had a magical year once but its so very difficult to ever reproduce those 2000 yard years. I don't know; it just does something to players I think. But everytime I get to looking at conversatins about CJ, I see the bottom line numbers but then I see all the times that he is ending a day with like 16/72/0. For multiple years, sans the 2000 years, he kinda has the history of being a very feast or famine guy with 7 games or so each year that look pretty pedestrian. When he blows up, he really blows up and his final totals stack up against the top guys, but I just don't know how much I would want him as my MAIN guy (and especially my first pick). To me, he is the ultimate difference maker guy that you love as your 2nd guy but, week in and week out, the guys I want as the cornerstone, carrying my team, are the fosters, Rices, Forte, Calvins, MJD, McCoys, even the elite QBS; the guys I know who have a floor that is likely to outproduce almost any of my opponents at that position.
The Jets went into last season with a reputation of having a really good run blocking OL too but they didn't. The Titans didn't either. A lot of blame can be laid at the feet of CJ though. I think the hold out really hurt his conditioning and that maybe he took his ability for granted, thinking he could just show up and be the same guy. I'm thinking(and hoping)last season was a wake up call for him as far as what he needs to do to be ready to play at a high level in the NFLAdding a guard like Steve Hutchinson even at the age he is at is going to make a pretty big difference IMO. I just think Chris Johnson represents a pretty good return on investment this season but we'll have to see. I pretty much agree on everything you said though. He needs to get more receptions to keep that feast or famine factor to a minimum

Yes, he sure is. But 14 years of history with manning shows us what? I mean, I'm sure there would be those games where the game unfolds and CJ ends up with a lot of catches or a really nice game; much like what Addai and others did at times. But overall, it is just NOT to be expected week in and week out. Manning, on any team, becomes a team that is going to be attacking you through the air. That's why he is Manning and that is why so many teams want him. I am SO SO surprised that what people really aren't talking about is Britt and Williams (and of course the annual "this is Jared Cook's year" people). I mean, from a guy that has watched the colts for a long time, its the receivers I would be talking about. I think we could slap an 88 on Britt's back and show all the kids what it was like in the early days when in was Manning to Harrison all day long.
Have we forgotten how good Edge was with Peyton? He got a ton of carries (and receptions) with Peyton, why would you think that he's automatically going to be attacking you through the air, especially at this stage of his career? Let's face it, Addai isn't very good, and even he put up decent numbers for a couple of years.I agree that it would be a big boost for Britt, Cook, etc., but I don't see how this wouldn't be a major plus for CJ as well. A better, more balanced offense where you have to respect the passing game would be a very good thing for him IMO.
