Is Deuce an elite RB? (1 Viewer)

Wow – anyone see the new Reggie Bush Fantasy Football commercial yet? It's very funny.

He is at a draft that he is participating in and his buddy leans over and says “I think I am going to draft Larry Johnson”. Bush leans over and says “That’s a mistake I won a Heisman, you should take me.” His friend then says “OK, with the #1 pick I am going to take Reggie Bush.” Bush then starts to laugh and says “Man that was stupid, I’m going to take Larry Johnson – he’s ranked #1 at Football Guys (OK ESPN)..

I am sure this will be played a million times and get real tired real soon, but I thought it was very funny.

I'ts been on for a few weeks and is already old. However, Those drafting Bush early in fantasy drafts should take note. Not even Reggie himself is caught up in his own hype as much as a lot of people on this board.

Oh no kidding. I don't know how I missed that.Well I still thought it was funny... much better then that one with the couple shoping and the gatoraide bath. Allthough I would love to subject Mort to some of the crazy stuff that happens at my main draft.

I've been absent, so I apologize in advance. Has anyone managed to point out that Reggie Bush is on the same roster as a guy that for all intents and purposes is one of the top-10 runners in the NFL? THe MOMENT that Reggie Bush was drafted, if I were any number of teams (including a few playoff ready teams that drafted RBs, like Indy and Carolina) I would have picked up the phone and said, "We'll give you our #1 for Deuce..."

You think Deuce is top ten in talent currently, right now coming off his injury? As past history shows us he probably isn't. I love Deuce, took him last year with the #5 overall but things have now changed and he won't break 800 yards this year in my opinion. He might get 7-9 td's but Deuce won't be the same as in years past. I'm not saying Bush is going to be great either (personally I think he will be) but I just know what James looked like before hand and then after also T. Davis, infact name a running back who got hurt in season and came back the following year healthy. No one has ran for over 1,000 yards and Deuce won't break that thread.I also think Deuce will be gone after this year.

I'm not being defensive, and I haven't listed them out, but give me 10 RBs you wold rather have (and even factor in contracts if you like) instead of Deuce McAllister. I'm interested in your thoughts on this... At first glance, I'd say (in no particular order)

Johnson

Tomlinson

Alexander

Carnell

Edge (maybe, I'd actually put him about even w/ Deuce)

Portis

Then there is a severe dropoff to guys like Dom Davis, McGahee, Rudi...Deuce should be solidly in that group I would think.

Colin

If Edge or SAlex couldn't fetch 2nd round picks in the past, how in the world would Deuce be worth a 1st (and for the record, I'm a Saints homer and a huge McAllister fan) ?

Are you asking in fantasy football or the real Nfl and are you talking pre injury or now?

1 Alexander

2 L. Johnson

3 Tomlinson

4 Portis

5 Barber

6 James

7 Jordan

8 R. Johnson

9 S. Jackson

10 McGahee

11 Westbrook

12 Caddy

13 R. Brown

14 J. Lewis

15 K. Jones

16 Bush

17 C. Perry

If I was an actual franchise I wouldn't trade anyone on this list for Deuce this year unless I was waiting on him for next year. I might trade Tiki due to age.

Again when healthy I would put Deuce in the top 5-7 based on talent but based on the past experiences I would look another direction. Also, I'm not a big fan of L. Jordan but I think he'd still belong on this list. Chris Perry might shock you but if your talking about just on talent this kid belongs up there.

I agree with CO.Deuce is a proven producer. The guy is money. From FBG

McAllister excels as a rusher, receiver, and goal-line option. He had accumulated the third most touches in the league from 2002-2004, a testament to his great natural talent. He had surgery on his knee and reports have him as ready for training camp. He is just twenty-seven years old and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in the three previous seasons to 2005. The two time Pro Bowl rusher is among the top running backs in yards from scrimmage when healthy.
Again, he's 27. He's one of the best all around RBs in the league.Yes he's coming off the ACL. He's 27. This guy still has many years left. If White could keep Bush on the sidelines for key plays of the game, Deuce will have him sitting in the locker room playing PS2.

I strongly disagree but you have the right to your opinion. If he is a "great goal line option" why only once in his career has he gotten double digit td's. I wouldn't say that's a great goal line option. Also rushing for a thousand yards is really nothing to be that proud of anymore. He had 2 very good years and has always been an injury concern. Again when healthy I'm a fan of Deuce's I don't think a team with alot of holes would draft a rb with the #2 overall pick if they felt 100% confident in the one they already had. I do think Bush will have atleast 400 more rushing and receiving yards this year and probably very close in td's. Deuce won't break 1,000 yards this year, take it to the bank. Also if he's such a great all around back than why only once in his career did he top 360 yards and catch over 50 passes in a year. Now days rbs are catching alot more balls and 50 or 60 is common. I would think an all around back would have better #'s than his are. There were 14 rb's last year than had over 320 yards recieving. A feet he could only do 2 out of 5 years. Deuce is already injury proned, no need to have him coming off of a devastating injury as well to add fuel to the fire.

Getting you up to speed, McAlister blew out an ACL last year.
and NO took one of the most explosive players college football has ever seen to replace him. Reggie Bush, you know the Heisman trophy winner, 619 or whatever.
