Is Drew the next Marshall Faulk? Gore the next Barlow? (1 Viewer)

  :(

Seriously, i'm NEVER one to protest or argue about a trade, but is it just me or is this crazy? Yes, Drew looked good last game, but unless I don't know something, he's still the backup in a crowded Jags backfield. Gore is the starter in SF and one of the best RBs in FF so far this season. This is a pt per reception league too. Am i the only one that thinks this is an insane dynasty trade?

Is Gore a lot worse, and Drew a lot better, than I think they are?

I don't think it's that bad.

Drew is no slouch in receiving ability, and I'd rather have a healthy Gore now, but I don't see that trade end too lopsided one way or the other.

and to clarify, that is a 2nd round rookie/fa pick next year. So you could land maybe the 8-10th best RB rookie, or 5-10 best WR rookie...

Drew has had 1/2 of a good game against the worst run defense in the NFL.

That is why I'd rather have Gore now, but being that this is a dynasty trade I'm a lot less willing to rule for one side over the other at this point.

Since this is a dynasty trade we're looking at, you have to consider the bigger, long-term picture.

You can't focus on Gore's 1st two games and think of him as a top-5 back (he was ranked about RB20 preseason), nor can you say Drew doesn't have a chance to be the Jaguars' feature back in 2007 and beyond. Was week three a precursor of things to come for each of them (Gore losing goal line carries to Robinson and again being bit by the injury bug, Drew becoming part of a RBBC)? Time will tell.

One thing for sure, though. There's enough justification, given Drew's possible future upside, to allow this trade to stand. I'd not have done the deal, but I'd support someone's else's right to do it.

The guy is an idiot, but so be it. If Maurice Drew can last 4 games as the starter, let alone 16, I'll eat my computer AND my keyboard.

Does this have something to do with Maurice Drew torching Stanford during his UCLA career?
Eh, that doesn't mean much; so did JJ Arrington.
True, but at least Maurice has a 100 yard game to his credit in the NFL. Does JJ even have 100 yards in his career?Speaking of Cal, Drew had a nice game the last time he faced the Bears, as well...

I believe Jones-Drew is going to put the "too short" stuff to rest for good. It's a RBs weight I'm concerned about, not his height. I see no reason he won't be durable (based on his size). Jones-Drew is built like a brick ****house @ 5'7" 212. Patient dynasty owners will be significantly rewarded, IMO.

Excellent posting. Drew will be the heir to the Fred Taylor throne - and he's going to be very, very productive.

Niether Drew, Bush or Westbrook are the next Marshall Faulk. I wish people would stop saying stuff like that. I think it's very disrespectful to Faulk's Legendary status. Not even LT is as good as Faulk.

Well let's not be premature there. LT might not have had that MVP season yet, but LT had a better first 5 years than Marshall did.:LT: 2001 sdg | 16 | 339 1236 3.6 10 | 59 367 6.2 0 || 2002 sdg | 16 | 372 1683 4.5 14 | 79 489 6.2 1 || 2003 sdg | 16 | 313 1645 5.3 13 | 100 725 7.2 4 || 2004 sdg | 15 | 339 1335 3.9 17 | 53 441 8.3 1 || 2005 sdg | 16 | 339 1462 4.3 18 | 51 370 7.3 2 Marshall:1994 ind | 16 | 314 1282 4.1 11 | 52 522 10.0 1 || 1995 ind | 16 | 289 1078 3.7 11 | 56 475 8.5 3 || 1996 ind | 13 | 198 587 3.0 7 | 56 428 7.6 0 || 1997 ind | 16 | 264 1054 4.0 7 | 47 471 10.0 1 || 1998 ind | 16 | 324 1319 4.1 6 | 86 908 10.6 4 Marshall had the benefit of playing with Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner in high-powered offenses. Certainly the others don't warrent a comparison, but LT is definitely capable of having a couple MVP seasons, and I would not be surprised if he gets his first one this year. Also, a healthy LT is capable of being the all-time rushing leader. He is well on his way, but staying healthy for that long is a big big if.

I think lots of dynasty owners (newer ones at least) over-value the rookie draft and picks outside of the 1st round.

So if Gore was his 3rd RB and he likes a 2nd rounder, this might make sense to me.

For a dynasty league this isn't a terrible trade. You seem to knock Drew because of his size yet Gore's the one who's been injury prone over his entire college career and now 3 games into his 2nd NFL season he's hurt again. Drew could end up being the more durable of the two. Plus Taylor's on his last legs in Jacksonville so I don't think Jacksonville's backfield is as crowded as you think.

If you're in a dynasty league, any thought of collusion kind of goes right out the window. And, short of collusion, there is never a reason to veto or protest a trade.

For that reason, I have never vetoed a trade in our dynasty league and highly doubt that I would ever need to consider it.
