Is Ernest Graham playing himself into a 08 starters gig ? (1 Viewer)

Right now the guy has played every bit as well as Caddy Played at his greatest. And Graham is a better reciever  about blocking .

Graham has actually looked and played very well for TB and been a back they haven't had in a while. Just wondering if TB indeed looks to Graham for 08 as the feature guy ?

anyone have a take on this ?

I noticed Graham looked good last 3 pre seasons. I always wondered why he didn't get many chances in season. I caught onto Tiki long before anyone else. You Graham owners might have hit Jackpot. Unfortunatly I didn't cash in like I did Tiki!

It depends on what happens this offseason in Tampa. At this point there are way too many unknown variables for me to make much of a guess.

Tampa Bay will probably bring someone in to compete, but I don't see any reason why it isn't EGraham's job to lose.

Bucs RB Earnest Graham rushed for more than 100 yards for the second straight game Sunday vs. the Falcons. Some fantasy owners were concerned that the return of RB Michael Pittman from injury would stunt Graham’s production, but it appears Graham has a strong hold on the starting job and has been a key to Tampa Bay’s success thus far.

Gruden Quotes

(On RB Earnest Graham's improvements)

"He has been very good for us, as a runner, as a receiver, and as a guy that we have relied on. He protected the football, picked up the blitz on Jeff's [Garcia] last touchdown to Alex [smith]. He has played very good. What he has done the last four or five games speaks for itself, he is the real deal."

Per Rotoworld:

Michael Pittman (ankle) missed Buccaneers practice Wednesday, and coach Jon Gruden said afterwards he fears Pittman may be lost for the year.

Pittman admitted after last Sunday's game that he probably should've taken another week to rest his lower leg injury. It's now clear that he re-aggravated the injury, possibly severely. Pittman's locker was reportedly cleared out Wednesday, signaling his placement on injured reserve could be imminent.

Graham's ball the rest of the way barring injury. Audition for next year.

I live in SWFL and have watched Graham play alot. E.Graham has shown he can be a reliable #2 FF back.

When you watch him play he...

1) usually breaks the first tackler

2) does not stutter step (like J.Lewis)

3) runs very hard

4) moves the pile forward

5) can catch the ball

pretty much the opposite of C.Benson. I would compare his body of skills to L.Jordan - the 2005 version.

i could see that. and you never know, he could end up being the only tailback on the roster. i'm sure gruden will want to use 6-7 roster spots on QBs

 Disinformation here.
To be fair, Caddy at his best wasn't even this year and he may not even see that again.
Caddy at6 his best was a few nice games in his rookie season - in which all those great games except for the Carolina game were great due to a late long TD Run of over 50 yards in each game.sorry Caddy was never that great or even close to as consistent as the guy who is carrying the ball right now

Greatest does not equal most consistent. At Caddy's greatest he was amazing and much better than Graham. It didn't last long, but that wasn't part of your original statement.

The bigger question is that if they do anoint him the starter next year and park or trade-in the Caddy, in what round will he be going?

Buccaneers | Graham continuing to shake off rust

Sat, 24 Nov 2007 07:42:31 -0800

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham is shaking off the rust after playing much of the past three years on special teams instead of tailback. Graham, who is now the team's starting tailback, said certain aspects of the game that were once second nature have become foreign and need to be developed all over again. Graham said his ability to read a play as it is developing in front of him has largely deteriorated over the year, but it is coming back of late. However, it is still not where he wants it to be. "I'm starting to make some pretty good cuts and finish off some runs and get into the secondary. I'm starting to process the information a lot faster and that's making me more effective," Graham said. "I mean, there are a lot of people doing a lot of things up front in the NFL. They start with one look, then give you another look and you've got to be able to see and react to all of it."

:excited:
