Is Fargas the clear #1 in Oakland? (1 Viewer)

i have both jordan and fargas and, honestly, while not wishing for injuries on a player, i was fine with one of them going down for the season. OK, i guess i was sort of kinda wishing for an injury. oops. they're equally productive if given the bulk of carries, rids the fantasy RBBC headache, and fargas makes a decent emergency rb option, i thnk, esp. with the upcoming schedule other than SD.

SD

HOU

playoffs...

CIN

STL

KC

wouldn't be pinning title hopes on him, but if anyone else on your roster goes down he'd be a decent filler.

So, no worries of splitting too many carries with Crockett or Lee (other than a few goal line vultures)?

Anybody have any insight on this (other than "the Raiders suck")?
...but really the Raiders do Suck!!!!If you are counting on a Back-up RB in Oakland to give you a leg up in your Playoff games...hand the trophey over to the other guys. Sorry...but I don't see any diamonds in the rough.

Call it a gut feeling, but it seems like that tool Shell and the other uber tool Walsh have been looking for an excuse to hand Fargas the reins all season. Crockett and Lee will get some carries, but I think OAK will want to see what thhey have in Fargas in order to judge whether they should re-sign him (contract year, I believe?)

What a utterly useless contribution.
Beat me to it.Just because someone registers a username, it doesn't mean they have to post.

Rotoworld: Justin Fargas, Raiders - Justin Fargas, this is your moment. With LaMont Jordan out for the season, Fargas will get his first (and probably last) opportunity to be a feature NFL back. When he was a waiver darling earlier in the season, I remained skeptical that anyone could have value behind Jordan. After Fargas averaged 2.4 yards-per-carry over the last five weeks, including two games with negative yardage, most owners gave up.

That's the good news! A real live starting NFL running back is probably available on your wire. Fargas earned 20 touches against the Chiefs and can probably expect a similar workload as long as he stays healthy. After a tough game at San Diego this week, Fargas faces inviting matchups against Houston, Cincinnati, and St. Louis. Fargas has a tendency to run as fast as he can straight ahead on most runs, but he could be a reasonable flex option those weeks. He's hungry to prolong his career and is running hard. At this stage of the season, it's not going to get much better than that.

Recommendation:Should be owned in all leagues

OK, now I'm done....

Fargas is now a starting NFL RB. That means he has legitimate value, especially in 12+ team fantasy leagues. I have him ranked about the same as A-Train on my list right now.

FWIW....I have a feeling Crockett's workload will increase.......I know he is a short yardage guy, but Shell seems to like him and he seems to move the pile 4-5 yards every time he runs....he runs hard....

as a KC fan...it always seemed when he needed to get 2 he would get 5.....I think he could be pretty solid in the second half of some games if the Raiders continue to stay in some games....

in addition, if the Raider offense improves at all with Brooks back, Crockett should get ALL of the goaline carries with Jordan out.....may not be many this year, but a couple of cheap 2 TD' games could be in the future.....and 12-18 points from a guy this time of year is worth it...

especially since my RB's last week were Jordan, Jones, Foster.......ouch

I am actually thinking of picking him up in my league as well for playoff push based on matchups. I lost Portis and Jordan so nothing to lose.

He has more value in PPR leagues because Brooks likes to dump the ball.

I have to drop Rhodes for him but Addai is getting the majority of touches anyhow.

Roll the dice on him.

Fargas will likely be hurt within the next 2 weeks.
You say this because of Oakland's offensive line or because of his running style? He has been injury prone in the pastThat being said, if he's good for 2-3 games, that still could be good enough for some teams.

All of the above. That line is horrible. And Fargas always seems to get dinged up after a couple of games. But like you said, a couple of games might be all a team needs.

Jordan, is not, repeat is not, out for the season (so far) but he is likely to be held out for a while. From CBS Sportsline:

Jordan said he wouldn't need surgery on the knee, but wouldn't speculate how long he would be out. But with only six games remaining this season and the Raiders out of contention, it's unlikely he'd be able to make it back. "It's just like, `Wow.' It's not something you try to understand," Jordan said. "For me, this is the biggest injury I've ever had. ... The main thing for me is to just try to maintain a positive attitude and just try to get myself healthy."

I really like Fargas. He can take it to the house on any play, he has a really nice "wiggle".

However, as we all know, that line is awful, so you can't expect too much from Huggy Bear Jr. Still, he might have a game where he uses that shiftiness to score from long distance.
