Trying to find out if Witten is playing today so I can start him or forever hold my peace.

Any leads appreciated.

TIA.

I'm pretty sure I saw on the crawl on NFLN last night that Jason LaCanfora reported that he will play. HTH GB.

Cowboys | Witten will play Thursday Wed Nov 25, 11:34 PM

Updating previous reports, NFL.com reports Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (foot) will play in the team's Week 12 game Thursday, Nov. 26, according to the NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.

if he's playing, i'd lower my expectations. Witten is not the quickest guy anyway. with a bum foot................maybe he'll be used mostly for blocking.

true 99% of the time, however he is playing against the Raiders who can't cover anything short.

I've lowed my expectations for him already given his production this season, but I see it the opposite way; since speed isn't a big part of his game, a bum food won't change his game very much. :goodposting:

I was thinking Bennett might be a nice play today. I have Witten and am tempted to go with Bennett. Hate to have Witten get out there and then realize he can't go...

The Raiders have not given up a TD to a TE yet this year. My expectations for a less than 100% Witten going on a short week will be low.

Bum foot ... Raiders haven't given up a TD to a TE this year ...

Perfect storm for Witten's breakout game. Bench at your own peril.

i can see your point. but when he needs to get seperation he might not be able to.Witten is a warrior, and one of my favorite players. but fantasy-wise i just wouldnt have high expectations. i want him out there for his toughness, blocking, and leadership. he also allows the Cowboys offense to be more flexible with formations

I went with Finley over Witten. 25 yards. Wah...

Looks like The Cowboys game already happened, but I can't get any stats yet.

Witten in for Cowboys, Alston out for Raiders

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten was active and in the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys in their Thanksgiving Day game against Oakland.

Witten played despite being bothered this week by a sprained left foot sustained in Sunday's 7-6 victory over Washington.

The Raiders placed linebacker Jon Alston on injured reserve, ending his season after two concussions. Sam Williams replaced him in the starting lineup for the second consecutive game, and rookie Slade Norris was signed from the practice squad but was inactive.

Oakland defensive ends Richard Seymour (lower back strain) and Greg Ellis (knee, shoulder) were active. Ellis played the first 11 seasons of his career for Dallas before signing with Oakland this summer.

Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin (right ankle) and offensive tackle Marc Colombo (broken left leg) each missed their second straight game.

Checked on nfl.com.... I think the game ended in a scoreless tie :lmao:

Lots of bad information, analysis and advice on Witten this week - on this site and others. Short week and all, I guess. :football:
What are you talking about? The guy hasn't performed anywhere near this level all year and he was playing with an injured foot. What would make anyone think that he should have this type of performance? We're not in week 3 here.....Witten has been a tremendous disappointment all season and there really was no reason to start him today.

exactly...unfortunately, when i saw Stafford was good to go I went with Pettigrew who i've had stashed so I could keep him for next year. Figured he was good for a minimum of 5 for 50 kind of day with a good shot at score. so it was quite predictable that Pettigrew would get hurt in the 1st quarter AND Witten would have his best game of the year on a bum foot. I'm in serious  mode right now. :bye: :P :P

:kicksrock: Exactly the same story here: went Pettigrew instead of Witten. It being a holiday kind of forced my hand - I didn't know if I'd have the luxury of being able to check the latest news at gametime, so I had to make the decision Wed night. Eh ... sometimes, what can you do?

I'm simply pointing out that the information, analysis and advice on Witten this week was generally wrong, and I hypothesize that the short week could be a factor.

As long as we're complaining... traded MBIII off my bench for V Davis since I started Witten all year and was sick of the 40 yards 0 TD stats, and dropped Witten (start 1 TE) to get Cartwright.. oppoenent grabbed Witten and played him against me. :kicksrock:

Ok I understand but if FGB could predict the future, the membership fee would be much more expensive than it is right now. Bottom line.....all the evidence pointed to Witten having a marginal game.

:pickle: I know my Raiders. Witten was money in my ppr league where you get a 5 point bonus over a 100 yards.

A number of websites reported similar news and forecasts on Witten, so it's not just FBG. I think it was a situation where it's a short week, the news was sketchy, so benching Witten seemed like the safe call. Had it been a full week there would have likely been better information about Witten's health and perhaps not such a rush to bench him.On the positive side, at least he had a decent week more in line with what his owners are hoping for and hopefully that production can carry forward. The offense looked better, Witten had a bigger role, hopefully Garrett identifies that and continues to call plays for Witten more often.

Yeah the only problem is we've been waiting for 11 weeks now for this type of performance. Most Witten owners drafted the guy in the 3rd or 4th round. More than likely, he's already killed many owners' seasons.

FF rule of thumb..those who count on a rookie QB to produce every week swim with the guppies. :D
