Is Kevin Jones Value at the Highest Point? (1 Viewer)

I have KJ and am thinking of trading him. Currently one owner is offering Steve Smith. I think its a steal. Wanted to get your opinions if this is the week to trade him.

don't think he will have any better weeks than last....Detroit will be behind in many games and will have to throw the ball to catch up

personally, i've been waiting for 1.5 years for him to come back around, so i'm holding. he's apparently looked very good so far this year (from what i've read - i haven't actually seen a game though), and if you're in a keeper/dynasty league, i think you have to hold onto him. he could easily be a top 7-8 back next year if not higher. if redraft, i agree, he will probably never have higher value this year than he has right now.

I have to believe that Martz's offense will continue to get better. And KJ is a big part of the passing offense. I'm not trading him.

I'm holding for now as well (keep 5 league). Like other long-suffering KJ owners teased by the second half of his rookie season, I've been waiting for this, and it'd take a fairly substantial offer for me to part with him.

He's the 4th ranked RB in our PPR scoring system and with Schlesinger and his OLine getting healthy over the BYE I expect him to continue to put up solid numbers for the remainder of the season. Even if the Lions get down, he's being used extensively in the passing game so he'll get you points in that way.

In a re-draft now may be the time to sell, but in Dynasty/Keeper I don't think you'll find too many KJ owners looking to sell.

I've been offered Portis for him. Normally I would decline the offer, because Portis has the dreaded high ankle sprain, but then I looked at their weeks 14-16 matchups and Portis has a much easier sched. What would you guys do? 2-player keeper league.

KJ wks 14-16: MIN, GB, CHI (Minny & CHI are tough matchups)

CP wks 14-16: PHI, NO, STL (easy as cake)

I'd definitely consider trading Jones for Smith, depending on your other options at RB and TB.

I think it is the opposite....KJ's perceived value probably isn't what it should be.

A LOT of people remember last year and still believe his numbers are a fluke against bad defenses.

I would look to unload another guy like SA, Portis, RBrown, etc...who are still probably perceived to have higher value (maybe much higher) by the masses.

This really depends on your depth at RB and WR. If you already have two rock-solid RBs, then hell yeah, make the trade... but if you would be leaving a gaping hole at RB, then you might want to reconsider...

I also have Ronnie Brown and Warrick Dunn. He might even want R.Brown instead, so I may make the trade

Exactly what I said. Brown is still perceived as higher value, which I don't think he has.

i think Forrest (as in, gump... get it?) has a different philosophy than most. most people assume the market reacts to recent events moreso than a prolonged history (perhaps irrationally) than they rely on outdated high performance (see: lamont jordan's market value).clearly, if i'm you, i deal ronnie brown and call it a day. i know i've gotten no less than 4 offers for KJones already this week, and i'm not selling. i've waiting too long on this guy to not finally reap the benefits of my toil that i always knew would be there in the end.

Take that offer. Steve Smith > Kevin Jones.

I've been offered KJ for Chester Taylor straight up... I'm inclined to take it. thoughts about Jones worth relative to Taylor? It's a standard scoring ppr dynasty league. What about Maroney instead of KJ for Taylor? I know some are down on LM right now...

Consider the fact that Jones has put up these good numbers on a team that's 1-6! Imagine what he'll be able to do if they actually become average - teams that lose a lot tend to trail a lot and therefore tend to throw a lot (which actually has been a key part of KJ's success this year). Millen is awful, but there's plenty of room for KJ's numbers to grow as time goes on here.

Now that said, owning C Taylor in both of my leagues and K Jones in one of the them, I haven't really had to rate them against each other aside from week-to-week (I considerable both benchable still under the wrong circumstances). I think they are pretty equal in terms of how their offenses use them and scoring opportunites and such, so I guess I'm fairly agnostic on such a trade (though K Jones rates a slight edge if he's getting PPR)

I think Gump nailed it here. His perceived value still is not that high. Jones is top 6 in my league. I put him on the trading block in my league as I feel good about my rb and need a wr. I got 2 offers. Lee Evans and Keyshawn johnson. Although I don't think KJ finishes as high as he is currently ranked,he should still have a decent finish to the season.

im a kj homer but in general

i love rbs that are involved in the passing game simply because they will get yardage no matter what the score

that is the biggest reason why

kj this year>than kj last year

hes not getting a whole lot more carries, but there is a good chance he will get more touches all game long no matter what the circumstances are

1st and 10 losing by 14 4th quarter

last year=shawn bryson

this year=kj for a 6 yard pass

this is ronnie browns saving grace this year too....if there is one

I agree. I have been trying to trade him to get a decent WR and so far the only thing anyone is offering is Chambers. Nobody else seems to want anything to do with him. :wall:

Absolutely not! I am a huge KJ fan, and his schedule is so simple! His only tough matchup is week 16 against the Bears. I know that this is the final, but for the rest of the season, he is worth to keep.

I would not trade KJ for Steve Smith. I'd rather have a top rated RB than a top rated WR and I'd still feel hesitant to trust one of Smith's hammys is not going to cause him problems. As for KJ I see every reason to think his numbers should increase, not decrease. His schedule gets easier, the o-line situation is improving with the Lions expected to have 2-3 starters return and lastly the team as a whole seems to be getting better and better offensively as they grasp the Martz offense.

I've been offered Tomlinson for KJ and Maroney. Thinking about it...

Edit to add that this is a dynasty league.

I was offered Portis for KJ. I'm concerned over Portis' high ankle sprain, so I didn't do it. Instead I did the following blockbuster:

KJ

LaMont

Jennings

Javon Walker

for

LT2

Bray Edwards

Eric Parker

I know I overpaid for LT2, but I have Larry Johnson as my 1st RB and I still have Anquan and Randy Moss as receivers. My WR3 will be Braylon. I think I'm set for a Super Bowl run!!!

Keep him

His schedule is easy coming up.

His o line can only get better since it has been decimated with injuries, and he is still producing.

He gets a lot of receptions, so even when they are down, they will utilize him.

goal line, no rbbc

It seems that you won't be able to get equal value for him in a trade.

I have been offered Lamont Jordan and Roy Williams for KJ and Wes Welker.I am going to take this offer because I am shallow at reciever plus I feel Detroit will be in the catchup mode and need to throw more.I also have Kitna for QB and T Bell Stephan Jackson.I am hoping this is a recipe for sucess.

A point to consider is that he was a 1st round pick, so he was EXPECTED to produce. He should be expected to continue to produce.

A second point- It is not like he has never done it before. The second half of 2004 he was a monster. Yes, vs. a lot of bad defenses, but he is also 2 years more experienced now.

I am keeping him.

IMO his value is as high as it can get..He is top 4 right now.. If i had him i would hold him unless i got a Stud player that could help my team more than KJ but his value is high.

I have to laugh at the people who say trade KJ because Detroit "will" be in catch up mode. How is that any different than the first 7 weeks? They're 1-6 and yet he's been a stud. He's on pace for 85 receptions! Playing from behind would only matter if that would be a CHANGE from the first half of the season, but it wouldn't be. I just don't think that such a reason for trading KJ has any merit to it whatsoever.

I tried giving

Carr and Fred Taylor to the Hasselbeck owner ( who had no back up ) for Jones and a kicker.

He wouldn't do it. He is going with Young and Romo as his QBs

If youre fantasy playoffs are in week 14,15, and 16 then hold for a couple more weeks and then trade. Trade right after the San Fran game or as long as you can hold him before youre trade deadline.

KJ is gonna get the looks and carries even if Detroit is playing from behind but look at the teams he did well against and look at the teams he faltered against. GB, Buf, NYJ, Stl (only half way competitive team there even though I am a cheesehead). Then look at the teams he faltered against Minn, Chi, and Sea.

His playoff schedule is not kind at all: Minn, @GB, and Chi. Even the GB game will be rough at Lambeau (and that GB's rush d is looking good). Dont hold on to him for your playoffs or youre gonna be burned.
