Is Maroney injured? (1 Viewer)

Driving home listening to ESPN radio, some joker mentioned a rumor that Maroney was hurt, even though he's not on the injury report. Said he was seen getting Xrays. They glossed over it real quick. Anyone know anything?

shiiiiiiitttttttttt, I planned on playing him against the #1 run D, only b/c he is back in Minnessota to show who is boss like he did with the Golden Gophers.

He had X-Rays taken either during or right after the game Sunday. There was a thread dedicated to this earlier this week. Search for it. It'll give you all the info you need.

He defintely dinged his hand last week. He was holding/looking it after a run and it was very obvious that he had some discomfort.

That being said there has been nothing locally about this being an issue. With the Pats anything is possible but my guess is he'll be good to go on Monday night. The fact he has been practicing all week and is not on the injured list in any capacity would tend to support that as well.

It was Eric Kasillius' (sp) show. He has some injury expert that he runs through the week's injury report with. He must have been in a hurry cause he glossed over alot. I've got to play Maroney this week due to bye's. I didn't put alot of stock in the report but thought i might find out more here.

Latest news report I can find on it. Fox Sprots 10/23/2006

News: Rookie running back Laurence Maroney was in line at the visitor's X-ray room Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Impact: He did not appear to be injured during his game against the Bills, but one never knows with those sneaky Patriots. The value of starter Corey Dillon would drastically increase if Maroney were hurt. (Mon. Oct 23, 2006)

Maroney may be a good play this week. Astroturf and Dillon are probably a bad idea, at least at his current age and health. May see Maroney more than the past few week. And I'm sure he played there some while at UM.

I also heard McAllister might be out. If so, play Bush even against a strong Bal D. I think they'll have trouble covering him on the screens.

Not sure I would put too much into the "It's astroturf" discussion. At least I wouldn't. As for the "it's in Minny" discussion, I could buy that if weren't the Pats.

 I have to start him regardless so I'll hope for best anyway.

Not sure how to read this lack of info. I'm sure hoping to hear something soon.

(As this is a Maroney thread, I might as well mention that all I have to do is hit "approve" and I'll be getting Maroney for Foster and Favre. I really think that, if he is healthy, there is some decent upside for the rest of the year. Call it a hunch.)

I saw him take himself out of the game after a good rush; he was holding his hand. I never found anything official and I'm starting him.

The vikings are the number one rush defense right now so good luck with starting a possibly dinged 2nd string rb against them.

I also heard McAllister might be out.
Huh? Where did you hear this? Link please. Nowhere I've seen (rotoworld, espn, etc.) does it say Deuce might be out...rotoworld: Deuce McAllister (probable, hamstring) practiced fully all week. He'll play against Baltimore, who has the NFL's No. 2-ranked run D.

It's true that the Vikes are ranked #1 against the run, but look a little deeper and that ranking isn't so impressive:Wk 1: Played Washington with an injured Portis who may have been rushed back too soon - he missed the next gameWk 2: Carolina (ranked 25th in rushing offense)Wk 3: Chicago (ranked 24th in rushing)Wk 4: Buffalo (ranked 23rd in rushing)Wk 5: Detroit (ranked 29th in rushing)Wk 6: byeWk 7: Seattle without AlexanderThey've yet to be tested against a solid running team. New England is currently ranked 6th in rushing offense. They've yet to be tested against a solid running team. New England is currently ranked 6th in rushing offense. Maroney may not be a good play because he's a dinged-up 2nd stringer, but I wouldn't bench him just because he's facing Minnesota.

The Patriots are still coached by Belicheck. If Maroney has a hang nail, he will listed on the injury report. If he isn't on the report, you can pretty confident he isn't hurt.

Now this was a quality post. Thanks so much :goodposting:

Good point. Based on this thinking, and researching everywhere I can, yet finding nothing hinting at an injury, I have decided to go ahead and trade for him before this weeks games. (Foster and Favre for Maroney)
