Spoken like a Fitz dynasty owner. Not that I don't think Fitz is a stud...but behind most of these guys in fantasy points this year..and gonna lose his Warner any year now.
Do you think I'm high on Fitzgerald because I own him, or do you think I own him because I'm high on him? I didn't draft Fitz- I traded Antonio Gates, Javon Walker, and a rookie 1st rounder to get him back when Walker was still with Denver. That's a king's ransom, and I considered it a bargain for a 25 year old who already had a pair of 1400 yard seasons. And now he's a 26 year old with a trio of 1400 yard seasons. That's more than Randy Moss had at his age. That's more than Jerry Rice had at his age.Talent trumps all, and since people have short memories, after the playoffs last year the question wasn't whether Fitzgerald was the best WR in the NFL (it was widely accepted that he was), it was whether he was the best PLAYER in the NFL. I'm not going to bury him just because he's ONLY on pace for 1150/11 so far this season.Even if Warner goes down... so what? Warner only played 10 games in 2004, and Fitz still had 1400+/10+. Warner only played 11 games in 2007 and Fitz still had 1400+/10+. In '04, he averaged 5.8 grabs for 86.3 yards and .83 TDs in games started by Josh Freaking McCown- that's 93/1380/13 over a full season. With Josh McCown. He was on pace for 109/1433/3 receiving in 2007 in games started by Matt Leinart (I think it's safe to say that the TD number there is a fluke). With Boldin, without Boldin, with Warner, without Warner- all Fitz has done his entire career is produce at an elite level, regardless of any surrounding circumstances. Which is what real studs do.Like I said, he's only 26, and he's already the second most proven WR in the entire NFL. Larry Fitzgerald (age 26) and Randy Moss (age 32) are the only receivers in the league with more than 2 1400+ yard seasons. Larry Fitzgerald (age 26), Randy Moss (age 32), Hines Ward (age 33), and Terrell Owens (age 35) are the only guys in the league with more than two 10+ TD seasons. Reggie Wayne can't claim that. Steve Smith can't claim that. Torry Holt can't claim that. Ochocinco can't claim that. Donald Driver, Derrick Mason, Brandon Marshall, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Andre Johnson... none of them can make that claim. Fitzgerald already has more 200 fantasy point campaigns in his career (3) than either Torry Holt (2) or Isaac Bruce (2). He has as many 200 fantasy point campaigns as Reggie Wayne (1), Andre Johnson (1), and Chad Ochocinco (1) COMBINED. If anything, Larry Fitzgerald isn't overrated, he's UNDERRATED. Basically, the only WRs in the last 20-30 years who have been this good and this proven this young have been Randy Moss and Jerry Rice. There are no circumstances under which I would bet against Fitzgerald. If you asked me "who is going to be the top receiver over the next _________", no matter what the blank is, I'm betting on Fitzgerald. He's the best receiver in the NFL.
