I am having a discussion with another league mate. In a PPR league is Mendy at #1 RB for 2010. I say he is a solid #2 RB, but not a #1 RB. Please chime in and vote.

I think he finishes in the RB10-13 range. That means technically he can be a 1, but you'd rather have him as your #2. I voted 1.

IMO he's the last of the RB1s, a player I won't mind having as my RB1 if I went with AJ or Rodgers/Brees in the mid 1st of a large league but not as my top player. He'll almost certainly go higher than I'd take him.

With the amount of work he will get, he is a no-brainer RB1, IMHO.
 He finshed #11 last year in PPG after he was named the starter and his offensive coordinator is quoted in a local article this morning saying he's going to have a Faulk/Edge type season. He also says that Mendenhall is too explosive to take off the field and that he'll be the team's 3rd down back and goal line back. He's going to touch the ball a lot this year. I think he's a lot more likely to finish as the #2 RB than he is to finish a #2 RB.

I don't doubt the bolded, but:No Roethlisberger for 4 weeks.

Dreadful offensive line.

Lack of viable receiving targets.

When defenses line up against the Steelers, who is going to be the 1 player they're focused on stopping? I'd think they'd be more willing to take their chances making Byron Leftwich beat them throwing it to an aging Hines Ward, an unproven Mike Wallace, and Heath Miller.

I liken Mendenhall's situation to Steven Jackson's, but I don't believe Rashard is anywhere near the RB SJAX is.

His OL is better this yr and he ran for 1100 yds last yr.Steelers will not miss Holmes as Wallace will step up and with ARE back and rookie wrs they will be very good at wr and Miller is a great outlet for whomever is at qb

Mendenhall will finish top 10 with chance at top 5

How do you figure his line is better? They lose their RT for the year, bring in a castoff to play LT (and from what I hear looked pretty bad already) and move Starks from LT to RT. [sarcasm]Sounds like a recipe for success to me, no?[/sarcasm] I think its a stretch to say they will be very good at WR. Ward is aging, but still wiley and very capable, and I was very impressed with Wallace last year but to claim that he's already better than Holmes is quite a stretch.

I voted solid #2, but waffled between that and hardley a #2. I don't think he'll be a bust by any means, but I doubt very much that he presents value wherever he is drafted in your league. I'd be much more hopeful for 2011 and by 2012 he could be in line for a top 5 finish but for 2010 I think he is in the high-teens/low 20s. I had him in the 8-12 range before Little Ben got loose, Holmes got suspended/traded and Colon went on IR.

First off Starks is staying at LT, Pouncey will start over Hartwig major improvement right there. Colon was average at best as a run blocker and is being replace by either Adams or Scott either way it is an improvement overall than last year. At worst Mendy is a top 10 RB. At best he will for sure be a top 5 RB.

Barring injury, he is a lock RB1 IMO. He has no competition for carries and will almost certainly touch the ball 300+ times. I also see a bunch of catches early in the season too.

I am a little nervous about Mendenhall. I think you could have a month of bad Steeler offense, then a bye week, then you get Cincy, the Jets, and Carolina in weeks 14-16.

I was really not impressed with Flozell at RT, and him blocking for Fat Albert with the slowest release in history is a scary notion.

Having said that, what zoonation says is right. He's a lock for 300 touches, and maybe will even see more catches to start the season. At the end of the season, I think he winds up around RB 10-13, making him a decent RB1, great RB2.

I love the Steeler homerism. Steelers are gonna have an awful year offensively with Ben gone and with that OL. Teams are going to stack up on Mendy, who is average talent wise to begin with. He cannot create something out of nothing, which someone like CJIII, ADP, Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson, CJ SPiller have the ability to do....
