Is Micah Hyde the best player on the Packers defense? (1 Viewer)

I have to ask this. He's really the only player I can think of that's worth a crap from yesterday's game. Tramon Williams got that pick so I guess he's in the coversation. But I was sitting here thinking about the dearth of talent and I think Micah might be the best player on the squad. He's disciplined although lacking in athleticism. But he makes play and more importantly, he shows up. He dang near won the game for them yesterday. This close.

Maybe I am going overboard but I can't think of one player in the front seven who had a bigger impact this season. Hawk is useless. Raji never got within spitting distance of Kaepernick. The linebackers, who are the linebackers even? I thought I saw George Koonce out there for a couple series. I honestly think Kevin Greene could rush the passer better than anyone on the team not named Matthews. Just a horrible unit. I don't know if it's talent, coaching, or trainers but this unit is a total joke.

I thought Shields was better most of the year, and Tramon was easily better the last 5-6 games. Heck, when healthy Jolly was a bigger impact player.

Shields is ok. He's fast and made a few plays. But he isn't anything more than a slot guy. Jolly might have been the best player. Forgot about him. Pretty sad when a journeyman coming out of prison is in the conversation.

I don't think the Packers have a single player on defense who could start for the 49ers. Not one.

I thought Shields was better most of the year, and Tramon was easily better the last 5-6 games. Heck, when healthy Jolly was a bigger impact player.

Mike Daniels as well.

Hyde is a nice returner and may build into a better corner.

But he was out of position quite a few times and took bad angles like everyone else.

Shields is an outside guy...not a slot guy at all.

Micah Hyde can play. I think he and Burnett will be the starting safeties next year.

The best two players on this defense are Clay Matthews and Casey Hayward. Neither of which played yesterday.

Burnett got paid well and is simply not good.

Probably took the worst angles on nearly every play and got beat by every juke move made.

If he and Hyde are the safeties next year...the D might actually be worse.

Not sure why people think Hyde will/can make that switch and make an impact.

Great point on Burnett. He might be one of our worst re-signings in team history. Just not a difference maker, but he is paid like one. Very disappointing, he seems to be regressing.
