The rumor is Mike Williams is going to start getting more playing time. Last week, he was practicing with the first team in Furrey's spot with Furrey moved over into the slot. Then, for some reason, the coaching staff backed off that plan. If that happens in a game, then I think Furrey's value will take a hit. Therefore, I would watch William's status very carefully.

actually I think his skill set is made for the slot. and in martz system where they use alot of 3 wr sets so i dont think his value takes that big of a hit.

Yeah, but lets use Kevin Curtis or Az Hakim as an example. They had their moments in that third wide receiver role in Martz's system, but they were never guys that I would plug into my starting lineup every week without question.

Furrey just came of by far, his best game. It would seem curious to "demote" him after that potential. The fact is, Williams might just be too slow to be a good slot receiver. With that in mind, isnt it possible that Furrey could keep the #2 but WHEN they go to a three WR set, Williams comes in at Furrey's spot and Furrey moves into the slot, so Williams is on the outside and you have Furrey's shiftiness inside?Just a thought because I dont see any reason for Williams to suddenly propel into the #2 guy there and Furrey if anything seems to have cemented his role (for now at least).

I think you hit the nail on the head. Furrey doesn't scare anyone over the middle. The Lions need Williams' size. And he is too slow to play slot so by default he is lining up across from Roy Williams if he is in there. I don't think the coaching staff would consider that demoting Furrey. I think they would view it as a way to get all three of their best WRs on the field together.
