Is NFL Sirius radio worth the cost (1 Viewer)

I know that you can follow all the games, but is the general information that is provided worth the cost? How many in depth shows do they provide during the pre-season and in-season during the week that are worth listening to?

Are there better coach and player interviews available as compared to Sporting News Radio or ESPN?

Thanks for the information.

The cost is around 40 cents a day. If you are in the office or on the road for more than two hours a day its well worth it.

IMO - Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan from 3:00-7:000est is by far the best show. They actually get into the X's & O's of the sport. They dont deal with all the BS that comes with most of sports talk shows and they are extremely informative.

I've had it a few years now. My commute is about 45 minutes each way and spend about a half hour in the car at lunch. I find myself listening to the NFL channel much more than ESPN. I like the lunch and evening shows more than the morning show.

I think they have far more players on the shows than ESPN. Most of it's fluff and I can't say that I get any breaking news from it but it's still enjoyable and if you have a long ride, it's better than ESPN.

well worth the price. T-Rock and PK rule. Schein is kind of annoying. Marvez and most of the early guys seem to be pretty good.

I disagree on their scoopage. I've got many scoops from them over the years. the 2 min drill chimes in a lot and gives u recent updates. If your driving and want immediate access to NFL news without logging into your computer, it's the best media outlet. The music channels could be better, but they also have lots of news channels and some decent comedy channels that entertaining for long road trips.

I definitely think it's worth it. I've had it for 3 years and I don't know what I would listen to without it. Much better info than any local channel could offer. And for long road trips I really enjoy the music channels particularly Liquid Metal.

During the season they have a fantasy show every Friday night from 7PM till 10PM that is not always correct, but is still fun to listen to.

So if you have the cash

The only thing I wish they would do is "block off" the NFL games from say 125-150 or something like that

during the regular season. I can't believe I'm posting this here but I do enjoy listening to the Fantasy Guru,Adam Caplan

and Greg Cosell.

Definitely worth it.

Stern, NFL radio, All The talk you want(if you want), Commercial free music.

Information is great, and is much better than radio. I was forced to listen to radio today while in a loaner, it was miserable.

I never, ever put myself through radio.

This is hands down the best gift my wife has ever purchased for me. She bought me a Stilletto for Christmas, and I love that thing.

Portable with a Sat connection, WI-FI, MP3 player, and I can record all sirius content with a push of a button.

I can then copy the mp3 and share it with other devices...amazing.

The fantasy show on Fridays is great and they replay it Saturday mornings. My favorite part of the show is with out a doubt Cosell. He does not seem to hold anything back when talking about players, which is rather refreshing coming from a national figure.

Worth it x10.

NFL on Sirius >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BSPN

This!If you are a football head or want to be a football head this is hands down the best show to listen to. They also give you a lot off ijnfo before anyone else.

Well worth the money.

I think it is well worth it, a good combo of X's & O's along with good information from a group that is well connected.

I like the Friday Fantasy show, the FF Guru, Caplan and Cossell know there stuff and it is good to get another informed FF point of view.

There is only 3 hours a week in season dedicated to FF on a network that goes year round 24/7 NFL football. Someone in marketing at FBG's should try and get some air time on Sirius for the growing FF nation. Sirius and FBG's should be a match made in FF heaven.

I'm a LONG time subscriber. Since 2003. I could not survive without it. When I'm forced to listen to 'terrestrial' radio, I want to throw the friggin thing out the window. Shein is a character, but you've got some serious football experts on there. I like Jim Miller the best. I would recommend the stiletto. That thing is awesome. Plus they stream most of their content over the internet, which the stiletto picks up via WIFI. The built in antenna for walking around though is kind of weak, so govern your expectations in using that. The fantasy show on NFL network on friday nights is ok. Those guys play tons of commercials, though so the stiletto comes in handy there. I can record the whole thing then skip over that garbage. They don't take 'who should i start questions', which I don't quite understand. That's what 80% of the people want to know who are listening. I like Caplan, but that guy has a real short fuse and badgers the callers when they don't limit their call to 1 player or violate the WDIS restriction. It gets annoying sometimes.Bottom line, GO GET IT. The year round NFL coverage alone is worth the price.

Another question... My car has built-in XM capability and I already have an Ipod and an in-home Ipod base set. Does this stiletto mesh with any of the Ipod equipment.

Is the main function of the stiletto to take it with you even when you are not in the car?

Thanks so much for the feed-back this far! Seems that everyone who has this loves it. Anybody out there that purchased it and then quit due to lack of use or impracticality?

If you think you just want to listen in the car you should be able to activate the XM and get it -- they merged.

The only knock I've had is I had to switch over to 80's today since they've been talking a lot of Favre bs.

But, to be fair about it, somebody the other day, probably Tim and Pat, said they were sick of it and didn't want to take any calls on it --- so, huzzah for them!

I havent listened to local radio in 5 years. I dont listen to espn bc i think most of those clowns are a joke. I agree with the poster on pat kirwin and timmy ryan - rock solid.

Not a fan of the blitz but listen to moving the chains a lot. Worth it for the games too when on the road on weekends.

Siruis has a free online 7 day trial offer at the moment. Why not give it a shot and decide for yourself?

Kind of doesn't even start to describe how bad he is. Randy Cross has gotten better in the mornings, even though I'd like to kick Peter King in the jewels. He's annoying too. Maybe its just all East Coast media thats annoying since they don't realize there are teams besides the Giants, Jets, Skins, Pats, and Iggles to talk about.

Just reviewed the channel listings a little. It shows an NFL 24-7 channel. I guess this is the channel that all of y'all are discussing shows from. Does it also include actual game broadcasts for all the games during the season or is that another service?

This Guy cracks me up every single time he says that. When ever I hear Gil talk, I think of sitting down with your Grandpa and listening to his old war stories.
True. But he knows his football and has some great stories. Second only in listening enjoyment to Ryan and Kirwan.

Wow I can't believe people actually like Ryan and Kirwan. Pretty much all the analysts are the same on NFL radio. Trying too hard to be old school. Kinda sound like the game has passed them by some. But, it's well worth it for the breaking news, interviews with all the coaches and players, and of course all the games.

Yeah, channel 124 is the continual NFL chatter.During the season you get home/away game feeds on various surrounding channels, like 125, 126, or whatever.

I can't understand how you (or ANY NFL fan) could think this? T-Rock and PK are the main cogs in the Sirius NFL radio wheel. Their interviews are top notch, and their breakdowns of X's and O's for the listeners is better than any of their counterparts. Plus, they don't sugarcoat anything.

I can't stand Ross Tucker or Schein, but MTC is awesome. Though, I can't listen to any of it right now, things are so dead, and it's the same guys calling with the same questions over and over and over again. Training camp through draft, though, it's on all the time in the car.

We need FBG's to hook up with Sirius to give us some more FF talk. NFL Sirius runs year round 24/7 and they only do a 3 hour show once a week during the season.

FBG marketing guys should try to set up something with Sirius in the off season, Bloom and Lammey.......

That is a very good idea.

Adam Schein's unlistenable to me. The worst voice on the radio. When he growls out words like Phil Hartman doing his frankenstein impression I kind of wish someone would punch him in the face.

The rest are decent.

If you enjoy the sport and the businees behind it (and really the history of the business), Gil is flat out sick. First off, he remembers every prospect over the last 45 years and what their deal was. I will never forget, one of his old Cowboys was on the show with him and they were talking contracts in general. Gil goes "didn't we give you a Buick as a sign on?"...mind you this is 40 years ago...whoever the player was, was flat out shocked Brandt remembered. I think the station is wonderful and love all the shows (except when they had Rice and the Barber Shop...those two shows were amateur hour.

it is worth every single penny. So much value....so entertaining....so informative. I can't say enough good about the product. Buy it...now. You will never be able to listen to AM or FM again after you've experienced Sirius.

I'll pile on

Had Sirius for the last 4 years, and Honestly, I have never listened to ESPN. Locked in on NFL Channel and that's it.

3 years ago, Loomis tipped listeners on Colston. 2 years ago on lance Moore.

last year, I heard Jerry Sullivan and Gil Brandt raving about Josh Morgan.

Gil Brandt is on late at night, and always has some good info even though he stumbles through it a little bit.

I hate Ladies afternoon on Fridays, but that's minor.....Kirwan and Ryan sound like 2 horny old men in that piece

I just drove the kids to Disney, and Sirius turned the 19 hour ride into something tolerable, enjoyable.....

Talk About IT.....

Whatever they are annoying and the callers are even worse. Plus they tend to dismiss a lot of valuable stats and numbers, for stuff like "he's a football player" blah blah blah which is not exactly cutting edge imo

anyone thinking about buying Sirius should ignore the above post. Ryan and Kirwan are where it's AT for NFL talk/analysis. Give it a listen online on the free preview, and decide for yourself.

Sirius now has an iPhone app with a free 7-day trial if anybody is interested (no CC required). The app is free. I googled 'Sirius internet radio' & went from there. You don't get Stern (I know a lot of people listen to him) or live play-by-play, but you do get the 24/7 NFL station & most of their other content.

I just started my trial, but for a few bucks a month, it may be worth it.

I like the NFL programming all year long. But as for fantasy prospects, the fantasy football program every week during the season covers injuries, matchups to exploit, matchups to avoid, and lots of relevant player news for that weekend's games.

I use a portable Stiletto 2 that I can play in my car, in the house, and anywhere in between. So, only one subscription price.

I live in the mountains of Colorado where it's difficult to keep a signal from valley to valley. I am very fortunate to have two outstanding public radio stations in my area. I listen to either of those stations intermittently with Sirius on my way to and from work.

That being said I love Satellite Radio. I have had it for 5+ years and it is well worth the money. Once I leave the valley I live in radio reception is a crap-shoot.

I do not listen to 124 (NFL talk) that often any more. I believe that Blog Talk Radio has much better Fantasy Football analysis without commercials. I download the shows to my I-Pod and listen to them that way.

Just listened to 3 hours of Papa and Cross, and now listening to Shein. This is fantastic entertainment. I can't fathom ever not having Sirius.

Can you look at the portable units (Stiletto) at shops like Best Buy or such or do you have to purchase on-line only?

The stiletto can be bought at Best Buy. My wife purchased me one for Christmas. I previously had the sportster.Sirius will give you some pretty good deals on the stiletto, currently around $269, Best Buy will match...radio shack also carries them. Here is how I use my stiletto.Stiletto offers a wifi connection, so I can listen at home, work, or out and about and have access to all my stations. I actually listen while doing yard work, or using a Y-adapter connect it to my home stereo.Stilleto also come with antenna headphones which allow you to listen using the satellite, so you can wear the 80's headphones on walks, in the yard, at the stadium, just need a line of sight. I will actually place my radio outside in the am, before I walk my dogs and record the Stern show. I can then listen "on Demand" at the gym.The antenna connection allows you to record songs and shows, and the stilleto will actually record programming for you. So if you listen to a particular station, it will download content(music) to your player. In my car, because it is using an antenna...i can record, pause, rewind with a touch of the button. Stilleto also has capacity for a MicroSD card, I have a 4 GB card and have MP3s, podcasts, etc loaded. 2GB included in the player, I believe. You can also move the recorded songs from your player to another device as an MP3...uh free download. The quality is acceptable.Saying all that, I love that thing and would dread having to listen to regular radio. This is a problem, because I always want to drive so I have my Sat radio.
