Is P. Crayton better than R. Williams right now? (1 Viewer)

I recall watching Crayton lose his position to Austin, who was amazing.

But Crayton was not that bad and I have yet to see anything from Williams to make me think he is worth his roster spot on Dallas.

I realize with what they paid for him, Williams will play. But who is better complement to Austin?

Crayton is a good slot receiver. He doesn't have the physical tools Williams does, but Williams can't catch. Ogletree strikes as a slot receiver too. I think Williams keeps playing but I doubt there will emerge a clear number 2 (especially with Witten, who is the real 2). As a Cowboy fan I hope that Williams gets his act together and eats into Austin's numbers, but I'm not holding my breath.

Roy Williams flat out can't get open. He's big and strong and will make some amazing catches; mostly because he can out jump the dudes that are all over him. But he won't blow anyone's doors off, runs piss poor routes and has zero concentration, hence the bonehead drops. Lion fans rejoiced over what we got for that turd.

williams will be the starter. not saying he is starter worthy, but he'll play the most snaps out of any wr on that team outside of austin.

Roy Williams will never equal what Dallas paid for him, which was a 1st and 3rd plus some change but those picks have all been paid for. I'm sure if Dallas slumps in 2 or 3 years, that trade will be brought up because of those missing draft picks but worrying about the sky falling in the future won't help either.

I think Roy Williams is slightly better the credit he's getting in here. He's an above average option in the red zone and once he catches the ball he's a big guy to take down.

Patrick Crayton is not better than Roy Williams. Crayton has had his chances too the last 3 years to step up and become a solid WR2 and he hasn't done that. Crayton is pretty decent as a slot guy and when forgotten about by the defense he can come up with a key 3rd down conversion but when put into a WR2 position, he will let you down fantasy wise more than not.

Bottom line is that Dallas has Austin Miles who will be an elite WR. To compliment him they have Roy Williams who is more effective in red zone areas, they have Jason Witten who they love on any passing down but defiantely 3rd and mid range, Patrick Crayton who keeps the defense honest and finds holes in zones when Romo has time and Ogletree who seemed most effective last year in WR screens. The next best passing option is Felix Jones who could turn a dump off screen into a big gainer, especially if they call the play when a defense is being aggressive.

I never liked Roy Williams since he was drafted so consider my opinion biased. The guy isn't worth 1/2 of his salary. Dallas best option is to probably cut him if this in an uncapped year? If they can obviously... I'm still not 100% how this uncapped thing is going to work out when it comes to cutting players. But if that's an option, they should go for it. It's even funnier when a player like Boldin goes for a 4th and 5th rounder, what was Jerry Jones thinking???
