How significant of a loss is Polamalu? What D's are a better choice than Pitt this week?

Polamalu being out is a HUGE loss. I wouldn't call their defense plain vanilla without him but he adds a level of complexity that is very hard to game plan around.I think the Steelers defense is still a good play -- it is a big game, at home, and the Jets offense has been struggling. But it is certainly a big bonus for the jets that Polamalu is out.

They are still a solid option considering the recent offensive struggles of the Jets. That said, I'm probably going to roll out NE if Rodgers is out, instead.

Agreed.... There's also a potential points bonanza if Sanchez gets skittish....But, I wouldn't cry for Pitt, the Jets are down to signing Safeties off the street and have CB4 Lowery also filling in... Revis and Trevor Pryce are dinged.

Having owned the Steeler D last year, I cannot overemphasize the impact of losing Polamalu does to this defense. They went from best in the league to barely startable. Not saying that will be the case now, but YWWIA

My thoughts exactly. Night and day. Truly remarkable what a difference his presence makes for the entire unit.Personally, I'm starting them this week, over TB. Had I a better choice, I might be benching them.Or maybe not. Steelers are what got me here, and I tend toward not messing with defense in playoffs.

Troy is not playing this week.I'm still starting them. Nobody runs the ball against the Steelers, especially in Pittsburgh in December. And Sanchez has never played well in cold weather and has looked terrible lately.Personally, I don't think this game will be close.
