Is Romo considered a top 5 QB now? (1 Viewer)

keep your homer icons to yourself...I admitt this is a homer question...

well is he?

not just due to the fact that he had a great start but also due to the fact that McNabb and others have had an awful start...

t1. Peyton/Brady

3. Palmer

4. Romo????

let me also apologize if some how this topic has already been brought up....there are alot of threads here, I didn't look at them all.

Why dont you look at your FF TOP players points for this answer, is that so hard

He is #2 next to Carson Palmer, and yes I have Romo

My next thread, Is Steve Smith a #1 Receiver ?

I think so, he was in the top 5 last year PPG and I only think he is getting better and he has nice weapons around him.

I wasn't talking fantasy...

I ment in general

is he a top 5 NFL QB?

like if you were the GM for just this year on a random team would you choose him over McNabb, Brees, Bulger...

I'm not ready to place him in the top 5 yet because the body of work isn't there yet but you can make a case for him after the top 3 Brady, Manning and Palmer. I personally would take him ahead of McNabb but that's just me.

All you have to do is look at Romo's stats for the 2 weeks excluding outliers aka "Derek Anderson" this is what Romo ranks so far and according to this year trend and last year I see him continuing to be in top 5

QB Rating

Brady 134.2

Romo 119.3 #2

Garcia 116.8

Delhomme 111.6

Shaub 111.4

Palmer TD 8

Anderson 6

Brady 6

Romo 6 #4 excluding outlier Anderson really #3

Delhomme 6

Yards

Manning 600

Palmer 595

Brady 576

Cutler 573

Bulger 535

Kitna 534

Romo 531 #7

He is definitely a top 5 QB

He was 5th if you exclude Vick.http://footballguys.com/articles/07stuart_rearviewqb.php

A distant 5th, and closer to 9th than 4th, but 5th nonetheless. With his great start and McNabb/Brees stinking up the joint, an argument could be made for top three.
Manning, Palmer, and Brady...there's an argument?
Oops. That was an oversight. An argument could be made for top four. Those three are clearly in their own class right now.

Going back to last year, 3 out of Romo's last 6 games he has a sub 50% completion percentage.

Not top 5 yet.
Actually you are wrong last six games he had 2 of 6 sub 50% completeion http://www.nfl.com/players/tonyromo/gamelo...amp;season=2006 But this list is arbitrary so what is your point
3 out of last 7 regular season, sorry. You think it's OK for top 5 QBs to have such bad swings, so often? That's my point.

Example, Bulger has never been sub 50% in his career.

Also, since the OP doesn't mean fantasy, he is really closer to 10 than anything else.

Romo is not a top 5 QB yet, but he's getting there.

Better QB's than Romo as of now (in no order)

McNabb

Peyton Manning

Palmer

Roethlisberger

Brady

Bulger

Hasselbeck

Brees

and Eli Manning POSSIBLY, although he's fringe. Delhomme has also strongly resurrected himself again and he's looking grreat, so he's also fringe

So Romo is between the 9th and 11th best in the league right now. If he improves and develops more consistancy over some more time, then he can go higher.
