Rudi one of the most consistent RBs in football has not scored one touchdown all year and with Watson in the wings... Give me some hope guys, Is it over for him or dio you think he'll make a comeback this year?

I have always been a big supporter of Rudi.....but I think he is done this year as the Feature Back....looks like RBBC from here on out

I picked up Rudi in a trade a few weeks ago... for a couple reasons.

1- he would be cheap to keep for us (performance based salary cap)

2- he has a favorable playoff schedule (STL, SF, CLE, MIA for those wk 17)

3- he has gotten it done early this season before his injury...

Week 1 vs Baltimore: 18 carries, 50 yards, 2.8 avg- not bad vs the baltimore D

Week 2 vs Cleveland: 23 carries, 118 yards, 5.1 average- The Rudi we all know

Week 3 injured

Since coming back fully week 9 he has averaged a dismal 2.1 yards per carry. however, his ypc has gone up from 1.2, 2.1, 3.1... let's say that trend continues and this week he puts up 4.1 vs TEN... it's possible

Regardless, it's clear his hamstring injury has been bothering him... which is understandable given he only sat out 2 weeks. Any PT will tell you it takes more than 2 weeks of complete rest to fully rehab a hamstring injury. My guess is they rushed him back because of their awful start to the season.

Also, let's not forget that CIN OL is just pathetic this year, and missing their best player, Willie Anderson... who should come back next week.

My opinion... look for Rudi Johnson to have some key playoff value for those lucky enough to make their playoffs this season with what was probably their #1 RB playing so bad

me three

I'm expecting absolutely nothing from him the next two weeks and hoping he can be at least a serviceable RB2 in the final month given how good his schedule looks. To me, these last six games will tell us a lot about where to rank Rudi next season. If he can't even manage RB2 production in the last four games given the level of competition I think his days as a reliable fantasy RB are over. There's certainly a lot of evidence already to suggest that might be the case, but for me, if he flops in the last month given his schedule I'll stick a fork in him.

O-line is brutal and the Bengals are usually playing from behind. This is a poor commbination for RB production. Sell if you can IMO.

I just don't see anyone giving up much for Rudi right now.....I say hold in Keeper/Dynasty and hope he finishes on a high note and sell then...

Do you guys think he will be the Bengals starter in 2008?
If he shows something in these last six games I absolutely think he'll be starting. I'm not sure Irons will prove to be any more of a threat than Chris Perry has turned out to be. That's why I think these last six games are critical ones for Rudi Johnson. Not only will we find out a lot about where he will reside among RBs in 2008, but we could see if he can regain his stranglehold on the Cincinnati RB position. A poor showing in the last four games in particular, given the ease of their matchups, could slam the door shut on him. I think if he flops in those games, the Bengals have to seriously address the RB position in some fashion in the off-season.

I expect that there will be a RB competition next year involving Rudi, Irons, Watson, Perry, and more than likely another first day pick and/or a FA. Rudi appears to be wearing down and he will have to earn his starting role, if he isn't cut outright in offseason (depending on his contract, which I don't know anything about).

If anyone knows his contract status that would be helpful. Will they ask him to renegotiate? If they can save on the cap will they just cut him? Everything seems wide open right now.

I'm not sure of his contract status but I have been in Cincy for the Holidays and been hearing a lot of talk about Rudi being cut after the season because of the money they could save by not keeping him next year. Nothing directly from Bengals insiders or anything; just talk I've been hearing since I've been home.ETA. He signed a 5 year contract in 2005. I don't know what it means if they cut him or how much it would cost but he is under contract along with Palmer, Ocho, and Housh through at least 2008.

Here is his salary. Not sure what kind of signing bonus he got or how cutting him would effect their cap numbers.

Salary History

2007 3550000.00

2008 3200000.00

2009 3600000.00

i had a dream last night that he ran for 81 yards today and had 8 receptions.

it *was* a dream, but you never know...

It seems Watson is the better play right now...I'm holding onto Rudi in the 1 dynasty league where i own him, but don't have high hopes at this point..

the way Watson is playing these days, it wouldn't surprise me to see him win the starting gig in '08..

How much do you guys read into dreams?

Last night a dream of mine focused on the number 32....

Rudi is the only player on my fantasy team with #32... do I dare start him over Kolby Smith?

Haynesworth is out again today so Rudi's chances to do something of note have risen rather dramatically. Whether he can take advantage is the question.

who dreams about numbers? you know you were dreaming about Colby cheese...cmon now

Watson every bit as productive as Johnson this year. That's not good for RJ's future, in addition to Irons coming back. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he was cut. Also, is it just me or does he look smaller this year? Definitely not the brusing, pound it back like years past.

It's not just you - he is smaller this year. I remember an article at the beginning of the year saying he wanted to be lighter this year so he could be quicker and also more involved in the passing game.

:football: yes yes I left out the detail that it was 32 bricks of cheeseLooking good... 14.8 points in my league. He should have 21.4 points... Watson stole his 6 yard TD! I wouldn't start him against PIT next week, but for the fantasy playoffs I may play him with confidence... which comes at a perfect time now with my other options looking cloudy:C. Taylor- AP coming backK. Smith- Who knows LJ's statusT. Henry- Suspended I hopeS. Young- Depending how well Hall does, and if Henry is suspended, could be a murky backfieldK. Jones- Should start for me from now onL. Johnson- Hurt for who knows how longGotta start 2... Jones and Rudi may look good in the playoffs...
