(HULK)
(Smash)
It seems to be getting to become pretty common on some pretty popular shows. Establish the main character as straight, let him develop somewhat, maybe drop a few breadcrumbs that he isn't so straight, and then boom, show him in a MMF threeway (note, not MFM, there is a difference) or just straight up with a dude.
Off hand I can think of 2 recent pretty popular shows that have done this. In both instances, I don't feel like they really added much to the story either... kinda like those moments existed solely for the purpose of shocking the viewer. I don't want to spoil which shows, so I'll list them below in spoilers. I'm pretty sure there is another as well, but I'm forgetting it.
I don't have the slightest problem with gay characters on shows (or bi for that matter). I think Shameless is the kinda show that really does it right. I do, however, take offense at twists that exist just for the sake of being twists. In both cases listed below, I felt they added almost nothing to the character's development.
