Is the media going to ruin fantasy football.... (1 Viewer)

I just heard on the radio that Deion called T.O. and TO said the suicide thing didn't happen.

With this, Carnells herniated disks, Leinart Starting, etc, etc, is the media ruining this good thing we have? Are these reports just a regular thing that needs to be weeded thru each week or are they becoming more and more common? I don't ever remember so many reporters taking guesses at stories and being wrong.

I wish they would actually report facts and save the BS for the message boards.

Heck, I think it makes it better.

Especially when people are willing to over-react and make stupid moves before the real story is found out.

the big problem is there is way too much media around these days and every single one of them is trying to break the next big story for their publication and make themselves rich. So there is a lot of dirt digging and backstabbing and erroneous reporting going on and that will not stop. I dont think its just sports, or just fantasy football, but in life in general

Totally agree. The media is killing itself in every facet of news with a lack of credibility. I mean who do you actually believe for your news. Every media outlet sports, news, or otherewise has an agenda and reports based on that.I can't stand the way they tear people down.

Why are you so quick to blam the media for these reports?

Do you really know what happened at TO's place last night? Were you there? Who says that the source of the Cardinal's information on Leinart didn't have it correct and Green changed his mind at the last moment?

Yes, there is way to much pressure on the media to break the stories on the air today before their competition gets it on the air... but you and I the "average person" can never know all the facts or what the angle is on the story - and the media is the same way. They have their sources and those sources have agendas and/or are human and make mistakes.

Simple fact is that each person is apt to embelish, delete facts, or mislead others with our life stories in order to achieve some agenda. The Media, the NFL, the players like TO are no different. Don't go single out a certain group to put the blame here....

OK there Mr. Journalist. Read the facking quotes from Denny Green on Monday. Read the blogger article on this site about T.O. No I wasn't there Mr. Obvious but if you think there isn't a problem with the media in this country you are insane. Let's not mince words here, a lot of journalists are LIARS.

I'm with you here. The more the water get's churned...the more guppies there are to eat.The key will be to know who to trust...and who to question.

I wish the media would be more responsible about football news, as I wish they were a lot more responsible about other aspects of the news.

I think a lot of the worries you have about players starting or not starting could be dealt with better rules in your league.

LAUNCH

Personally, I don't think the problem/issue with mis-reporting that someone attempted to kill himself is the ramifications for fantasy football.

But maybe that is just me.

Add Todd Heap and his phantom ankle injury and being downgraded to "Questionable". :wall:
:loco: Unreal that one. I got sucked into that one and it almost cost me. I was at the Fins game and of course had no access to the internet to plug him back in at 4PM. It is disgusting what is going on this year in the media, internet and MB. I just stay away from most of it and use my very best judgment which seems to always steer me right most of the time. Ahman Green was one where I said my gut tells me he is playing, when he comes out and says he is fine. Now Alexander with his cracked bone and the power of g-d healing him inside of a week, that is all well and good, but my money say's he sits this week.

So if you can list out for me which journalists you are refering to as LIARS, the whole of the message board would be grateful. I am no journalist but I am wise enough to know that with every strory there is a degree of truth and a degree of fiction. Is there a problem with the media in this country - you bet  is there a problem with the politicians in our nation - absolutely :( but if you are ready to throw the baby out with the bath water then you've lost me :bye:

The media and any other source of data that you use everyday is just that - data. How you filter that into your own world is based on your perceptions. Take the information as truth, lies or shades of grey but remember it is only your point of view that is determining it to be such and others may see it differently.

I don't think I need to make a list you pretty much proved my point for me. Thanks bro.

Fiction or Lie...... WTF is the difference?

When I started in fantasy sports, I had to work hard to come up with info to make decisions with. Now I have to work hard to filter the enormous amount of info out there.

Doesn't ruin fantasy sports at all. Just makes the decision making process different. Not better, not worse, just different.

Adapt and move on!

There's more information and more misinformation available than ever before from the media. For fantasy football purposes, I actually like that. People who react to each report will be mistaken more often; those who dig a little to find out the truth (or most likely scenario) will have an advantage. If you're not inclined to overreact, this message board is part of that advantage.
