Is the Red Zone Channel now going to be on NFLN every Sunday? (1 Viewer)

No, the Red Zone channel will be on NFL Network on Sundays, and it will be a different show than the Red Zone channel that DirecTV puts on as part of the Ticket. All DirecTV customers will get the new show since it's on NFL Network. You don't need the Ticket.
You are incorrect. The Red Zone channel will be an add-on channel, not on the NFL network channel itself. So far only Comcast and Dish have picked it up. Verizon has said they won't, and Cox has balked at the idea so far too. I guess the NFL is charging a hefty price for the channel. So to recap, if you have DTV, you need the sunday ticket for your red zone channel, if you have Dish or Comcast you wil be able to get it for a fee possibly, and if you have none of those then you are out of luck as of right now.
WHY???? WHHHYYYYY??? SOOO frustrating. I cant get DTV because of trees, the least a higher power could do is hook me up with this channel.

I'm in the same boat my friend. Apparently the NFL is charging the carriers 25 cents per household or something, and I guess that is an awful lot considering this channel will only be active for about 20 days a year or whatever. I think if these cable companies realized how much business they would take away from DTV by adding it, they would do it. But they don't know how many people have DTV just for the NFL I guess.

Some DTV facts:

1) They haven't said that they will carry this new channel.

2) Just because a provider has the NFL network, does not mean they automatically carry this new redzone option.

3) To get the Sunday Ticket Redzone channel, you need to have purchased Sunday Ticket plus the Superfan add-on.

That new video got me quite excited about this new channel. I had some doubts before but I like what I see. My only reservation now is if this new channel will be able to stick with a game as it goes down to the wire. Taking me from highlight to highlight is cool, but the best feature of DTV's redzone is how they would let you watch the entire ending live of a close game, especially when the early games were wrapping up and there were only a few games still being played.

I emailed DTV and simply asked if the new RZ channel would be available on DTV. Their response...

"I understand your concern regarding NFL RZ channel. The RZ channel is available from DTV as part of the Sunday Ticket SuperFan.

While other providers are now offering the RZ channel from NFLN, they will not be able to offer coverage of all NFL games in their entirety. The RZ channel from the NFLN will only show highlights of games and will only be available in select programming packages."

She then went on to attempt to sell me on ST. I wrote back and asked if they would be offering NFLN: RZ as part of the Sports Pack. Waiting on a reply.

And now they have written back. Basically, said they do not offer the NFLN: RZ but have forwarded my request to management.

Figured I would talk to someone at Verizon while I sat here:

Pretty freaking cryptic, eh?

I don't understand the huge following for the RZC either. I have Sunday Ticket and rarely tune to the RZC. If my team isn't on, I'll either watch an alternate or switch between games. When it gets close to halftime or the end of the games (especially the early Sunday games), I flip between all the games where teams are doing the two minute drill (it's madness, but I've gotten pretty good at it). In other words, I'm my own RZC and have complete freedom to watch whichever game is most interesting.

i'm a huge fan of the directv RZC. during the early games, i watch it almost exclusively and pick a game to watch during the 2nd round.

This channel is totally different then the DTV RedZone channel. It will be in HD. I don't know if they will have the split screens like DTV RedZone channel does it. Here is a video on the channel. I have DTV RedZone channel on my bottom tv and watch the game I want to watch on the top tv. I will be calling DirectTV about getting more of a discount because of this new channel. I am only playing $20 a month for 6 months for Sunday Ticket and Superfan and getting Showtime for free.

I've found that DTV RZC has done a great job of keeping the channel on the most interesting, removing the need to get good at your game of flip.I can rarely watch an entire random game from start to finish, so as a Sunday Ticket subscriber I've found myself either watching my favorite team or watching the RZC. Most often games that I care about that don't involve my favorite team are either on one of the networks or the Sunday/Monday night games. If this NFL channel works out I can see many of the Sunday Ticket buyers who already live in the market of their favorite teams dropping out. Price of Sunday Ticket keeps getting higher, over $300 to get the games plus the HD/Redzone options.Fans like me will now have an option to switch to Dish or Comcast. Sure I'll lose some full games of my favorite team, but I'll have a much more affordable option to be able to follow the games via a RZC type option.

My parents had Dish and hated the customer service. They switched to DirectTV but aren't getting the football package. When they called Dish and told them of problems of the receiver saying searching for info Dish customer service said it was normal. I got the friends $100 by switching them over and they couldn't be happier. I don't know how Comcast customer service is but I like DirectTV because their customer service is pretty good compared to my old cable company.

Just placed my order for the multi-sport package on dish network for $5.99/mo. If you're a current dish HD customer, check your account online. You are probably paying $10.00 for a Platinum HD package on top of your regular package HD. The platinum HD package is only 11 channels, which I never watch. Do yourself a favor: cancel that Platinum package and order the multi-sport package and save a net $4.01/mo.

If you're considering switching to dishnetwork, hit me up with a PM for a code that will save you $30 on your first bill, and save me $50 over the next 10 months. ;)

ETA the PlatinumHD lineup:

BET J

CI

Fashion TV

HDNet Movies

LOGO

MAVTV

MGM

NBA *on multi-sport

NHL *on multi-sport

Universal

World Fishing Network

The shark move is to cut those trees down. Wipe them out. All of them.

The "real" shark move would mean cutting down my father, as he has already vetoed the tree removal option.

Looks as if Verizon is getting the channel! Pumped up: http://www.reuters.com/article/pressReleas...009+PRN20090902

Verizon and NFL Network Reach Agreement to Offer 'NFL RedZone' Channel to FiOS

TV Subscribers

Real-Time Crucial Plays From Around the League and Stunning HD

Picture-and-Sound Quality Give FiOS TV Subscribers the Perfect Game-Day

Experience

NEW YORK, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and the National Football League

announced on Wednesday (Sept. 2) that they have reached an agreement to make

the NFL RedZone premium sports channel available to FiOS TV subscribers when

the channel officially launches on Sept. 13.

NFL RedZone, a new channel produced by NFL Network, offers a look at the

football action taking place on Sunday afternoons, delivering the touchdowns

and most exciting moments live and in high definition. When a team goes

inside its opponent's 20-yard line, fans see the crucial plays as they happen.

The channel, available to FiOS TV customers in standard- and high-definition,

keeps fans up-to-date in real time by switching from game to game with live

look-ins, highlights and a chance to see every important play.

"The ultimate high-def home-entertainment experience just got better with the

addition of NFL RedZone to the FiOS TV lineup," said Terry Denson, vice

president of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon. "Our subscribers

will love seeing all the game-changing plays that only the NFL can deliver --

and with the pure HD picture-and-sound quality that only FiOS provides."

Kim Williams, chief operating officer for NFL Network, said: "We are thrilled

to announce that Verizon FiOS TV is the first major telco distributor to carry

our new NFL RedZone channel. NFL fans in New York and other cities across the

country that Verizon FiOS TV serves will now receive this attractive new

channel. We look forward to announcing more distribution deals for one of the

most exciting new products now available."

Verizon is the only company in the U.S. to bring 100 percent fiber optics

straight to the home, giving customers the ultimate home-upgrade by delivering

America's top-rated broadband with download connections speeds of up to 50

megabits per second, more HD, amazing picture-and-sound quality, and

interactive capabilities that cable can't match.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500

all-digital channels, including more than 118 HD channels, and more than

15,000 monthly VOD titles. FiOS provides next-generation interactive services

including an advanced interactive media guide, news and entertainment Widgets,

remote DVR management, multi-room DVR, casual games, and more.
HD is key, some arent doing it yet I think.

A question for you guys.

I have Comcast, but do not subscribe to the NFL channel. Am I to assume the NFL channel is now free on comcast as a regular programing channel?

Which would also entitle you to get the NFL games that will be aired throughout the season?

And the only premium channel that carries an additional fee would be this Redzone channel?

I believe that it is part of the sports package that include i think NFL network, Fox Soccer Channel, MLB Network, and such. If you don't get those channels currently, don't think you will be getting Red Zone.

I think this is the case. I have also heard they may ask for more money for the channel - I'll find out this week when I call Verizon. Whatever it is I am gladly paying for it

When I called Direct TV, the lady told me that they had the redzone, as part of the NFL channel but I can't verify that any where.

Any one know if Direct TV will carry it?

I spend most of my time flipping between games depending on which one of my fantasy players is on the field. Red zone only is of very little value to me, I like to watch my key guys no matter where they are on the field.

I know the ticket is overpriced, and I know I really don't need it... but I enjoy the hell out of it. I don't even really call DirecTV in the offseason and ##### to get the price dropped. I look forward to having the ticket all year long and I use the hell out of it. It is one of the few products in my life that I feel I get 100% satisfaction from.

for those who want to know about comcast.

COMCAST - Red Zone Channel details. If you have the Sports Entertainment package, then you get redzone. The easiest way to determine this is to find the Tennis Channel and see if you get it. If so, you have the SE package and will get redzone.

Your screen name rocks. Do you slice?

Just called DirecTV (always an adventure), and the lady argued with me for 15 minutes saying this is only available through Sunday Ticket, and no other providers have it.

I tried to get her to go to the NFL.com website, but she "didn't have internet access".

She refused my assertions that this is an entirely new channel.

I couldn't get any answer out of her, but I think the assumption is that if you have DirecTV, you won't be getting this. I want it bad. : (

RZC is absolutely the best part of Sunday Ticket. I am not humanly capable of switching games as well as the RZC does. Sunday Ticket is a massive ripoff, so I would love to get the RZC without buying it (I haven't bought it for the last two years due to ridiculous prices).

I sent DTV and email as well as a Tweet. Both times, the response I got was recognition of the new show, followed by pimping of the Ticket. I explained I had no interest in the ST, but only the new independent channel. Both times, i was told they would not be carrying it at this time.

Ugh. Well at least that's an answer.

:) the tennis channel????? I couldn't even begin to guess where that would be. Didn't even knew it existed.

I know if you have TCM you'll get redzone .Also if you have the NHL & all the college sports channels than you'll receive redzone.

Verizon is charging $50 bucks for the season for it: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-at-Ho...Zone/ba-p/74364

One of their reps posted this, too:

Our entire customer base, regardless of level of service, can order NFL RedZone. Cable companies generally compel a customer to subscribe to a sports package that they may or may not want for the sole purpose of receiving this one service. For example, a Comcast customer would have to subscribe to the Sports Entertainment Package ($5 per month/$60 per year, and more in some markets), and Dish ($5.99 per month/$71.88 a year) just to receive the RedZone. In addition, a Comcast customer must have at least the Digital Starter package, which retails for $62 in certain Comcast markets, while Dish requires a subscription to "qualifying programming." On the other hand, a FiOS customer with Essentials ($47.99) could add the service ala carte for $50. Comparison: Verizon, $52.16 v. Comcast, $67 and Dish, $? So, we’d agree our pricing is different from the competition, but we think it is a very good deal.
For those of you with Verizon, you cannot order it until the 10th, FYI.I keep editing, but it's on channel 835 in HD, 335 in SD.

I have FIOSTV and was able to sign up this morning for $49.99. It's not ideal but it's WAY better than paying for FIOS AND DirecTV base package and the Sunday Ticket, and a HDDVR and HD service from DTV.

So what is the NFL Channel going to show during the games? The same Sirius/XM broadcast and stats?

I just called Service Electric Cable (PA) and they had no idea what I was talking about. The "added it to the list." I do have the NFL and MLB HD as part of my package, so I am not complaining.

NFLN is now "free" on comcast, no word on if you need the sports tier for this RedZOne channel yet.ETA: Comcast is all messed up, there are channels all over the place that I forget about and I have half of the sports tier packages for free. Unless they are not on sports tier anymore.I have Big Ten, ESPNU, MLB, NHL but no GOLTV or the soccer channel, and none of the FOX sports, there is no need for that package IMO unless they add redzone on it

Thanks man, calling now. And totally agree. It isn't terrible, I'll gladly pay that for the year.

GOLTV and the soccer channel are market specific, so that doesnt mean anything in terms of what subscription you have. If you have NHL, MLB, and Big Ten, i would say you have the sports package and will therefore get the redzone channel.

Yes you need the sports tier for redzoneanother way to tell is if you get TCM(Turner Classic Movies) then you'll get redzone because tcm is bundled in the ST

Dear Mr. Awesome,

Thanks for writing. Its good to hear from one of our loyal and valued customer.

We don't carry NFL Red Zone channel right now and we don't currently have plans to add it to our lineup.

However, I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV management.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,

I cant see direcTv picking up this channel and allowing their subscribers access to this channel.

they make too much money off the ticket.

NFL Red Zone looks like the real deal.
