They have done this with ALL their "Ticket" packages for quite some time. (Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey). Same goes for "Superfan". I freaked out a couple years back (after I had purchased my LCD TV/HD programming). Everything worked awesome week 1. When week 2 rolled around, the HD games didn't work. I called at kickoff (totally pissed off), and they explained that the HD feeds were part of Superfan, and I had to subscribe to that to get the HD feeds......and ALL week 1 programming was free. Just FYI.This is great news, where did you hear this?GreekFreak said:For any Directv customers, Sunday ticket is free this weekend.
I am seriously considering leaving DirecTV just to get this channel. It's the best part of Sunday Ticket, but without the ridiculous price.I cant see direcTv picking up this channel and allowing their subscribers access to this channel.they make too much money off the ticket.NFL Red Zone looks like the real deal.

You don't think its worth $5.99 a month? I'll sign up for 4 months then cancel once the season is over. After the cancellation fee & the monthy fees it'll be $30 for the season. I switched to Dish for budget needs last year. I miss Sunday ticket like crazy. By the way, its called the redzone channel, but they look in on way more then just that. Unless they plan to change the format. Anytime a game is heating up they'll switch it there for a bit. Toward the end when there are close games they take you to the close games. You get an update on any type of scores. It'll be a nice treat for me after being deprived of the ticket. For just $30, no way I pass on this.TheFanatic said:I have Dish and I thought I saw that this thing is like an extra $5/month. I'll pass...
I was under the impression it was something that while the channel was only going to be around for the 4 months that I had to pay for it for a year. Maybe I should try it for the season and see if I like it.Jail said:You don't think its worth $5.99 a month? I'll sign up for 4 months then cancel once the season is over. Any word on where us sad sacks that are stuck with Time Warner are in the whole NFLN pricing battle?![]()
Questionoes Time Warner carry an NFL sports package?Answer:Unfortunately, not at this time, here’s the story…The issue: The NFL is waging a campaign to try mandate Time Warner Cable to carry the NFL Network and force our customers to pay for expensive sports programming that they may not want. Time Warner Cable’s position: We have offered to carry the NFL Network on a Sports Tier. Customers choosing to subscribe to the Sports Tier would have access to this programming at their choice. Customers choosing not to subscribe to the Sports Tier would not have to pay for this expensive programming. The NFL’s response: The NFL, however, is still insisting that the network be placed on a broad-based tier, which would result higher costs for customers who are not interested in NFLN. By refusing our offer, the NFL is denying the public access to games that were once available on broadcast or other more widely distributed networks. Time Warner’s last proposal: To put the interests of fans first, Time Warner Cable submitted a new proposal to carry the NFL Network on a Sports Tier or premium basis. This time, we proposed to make the NFLN games available to our customers on a per-game basis, at a retail price set by the NFL, with 100% of the revenue collected for this programming going to the NFL. While offering this with no mark-up is far from ideal from our point of view, we are willing to take this step to make sure no interested customer was unable to watch these games. The NFL has rejected this offer too.NFLN appeals to only a small segment of our customers and it is highly priced. We continue to believe that the most appropriate place for NFLN is on a Sports Tier. When the NFL is willing to compromise, we will resume negotiations.
It's not highlights, but live look in of EVERY single score. It will look into games as well, but that's the whole point, seeing every score. U Verse is in on it, as mentioned above:Its great for those that don't have the ticket, but I can't fathom canceling ST to just get this. I mean, I want to watch several entire games every Sunday, not just quick highlights of scores...![]()
I live in NJ, but I called to help you guys anyway...nobody deserves to be without access!I live in Omaha and have Cox Cable, but I think there are other areas that have Cox. I called them yesterday to see if they were gong to add it, NO DICE. They said they need more "requests", and to have all my buddies either call in or send an email request. The more the better he said. So, if anyone on here has COX or knows someone that does, please spread the word.

Looks like the same for me (channel 411 or something like that here in Chicago). I have NFL Network as part of my cable package on Comcast (it used to only be available through the extra sports package). Does anyone know if the redzone channel only will be available through comcast if you buy the sports package (which I think is $5/mth extra)? As of right now, the Comcast listings in my area only have the Red Zone channel in regular definition. No HD Channel has been set aside for this.![]()
Right. It's only available through the sports package, even though NFLN is now available on non-sports packages.Looks like the same for me (channel 411 or something like that here in Chicago). I don't think the Sports Entertainment Pack is in HD. Anyone know for sure? I have become spoiled with the HD and cannot view games in SD anymore. NO WAY I can purchase this if it's in SD.Right. I added the sports package yesterday and there was nothing that said I had to keep it for a certain time period. It does warn you that they will charge you $5 when/if you cancel it. So $24 to carry it for the season then I'll get the $5 fee to cancel after the season is over. It'll be nice to have all the extra college games that come with the sports package too.I was under the impression it was something that while the channel was only going to be around for the 4 months that I had to pay for it for a year. Not looking to break the bank on this one? This is nothing more than a live Sportscenter. I'll stick with the ticket. Some of us like to watch full games. Looks like a decent channel for fantasy nerds.I have Dish and I thought I saw that this thing is like an extra $5/month. I'll pass...
This is a fantasy football website, as such there many people here who are obsessive about their fantasy players and enjoy watching them score LIVE, particularly when the viewer is watching the games in the company of his/her opponent. Prior to the RZ channel, the only ways the viewer could catch scoring plays as they happened were to be lucky enough to be on the channel or to follow along on a site that gives red zone alerts, such as NFL.com, and quickly flip to the appropriate channel. Since the advent of the RZ channel, this hardcore fantasy football manager no longer must spend time flipping channels and therefore his/her enjoyment of Sunday afternoons is greatly increased. HTH.Maybe it is just me but I just don't "get" the RZ. Even with the ticket I like to focus on 2 or 3 games. Seeing just the scoring without context... isn't that what highlights are for?Not knocking it, if that is what you are into then that's great, I was just wondering if there was something I was not understanding about it or if it just isn't for me.
This is a funny statement considering you are a member of a pretty knowledgeable fantasy football website. How dare you insult your own kind. I just ordered this from Comcast. I would rather have had the ST, but contract issues prevented that. I will have to watch the Vikings updates on the RZ. Do they switch when the team is kicking a FG? Or do they stay with it until converted? Sometimes a FG could make or break your game in FF.Not looking to break the bank on this one? This is nothing more than a live Sportscenter. They do, but your have to pay $400 if you want to get it. What a joke.so DTV isn't carry redzone?
Did it even start yet?? Not sure how you can say it sucks without ever even seeing it???turfman said:The redzone channel sucks. Its like watching tv without the remote. You have no control over what you are watching. No thank you. ST for me.

It's been a feature within Sunday Ticket (perhaps only SuperFan, not sure) for some time now. This season, it's being rolled out to other providers.Did it even start yet?? NFL SUNDAY TICKET on Broadband: Fans who live in areas where DIRECTV's service is not available, such as apartment buildings or in residences with poor sightlines to a satellite signal, will be able to purchase a new NFL SUNDAY TICKET broadband package.I could not have Direct TV as we have too many trees in our neighborhood. Got Comast just so we could have HDTV.
too late now that redzone channel is available on most providers.no need for the ticket with RZC.NFL SUNDAY TICKET on Broadband: Fans who live in areas where DIRECTV's service is not available, such as apartment buildings or in residences with poor sightlines to a satellite signal, will be able to purchase a new NFL SUNDAY TICKET broadband package.I could not have Direct TV as we have too many trees in our neighborhood. This is not correct. It's a completely different channel. Same format as the one offered by Sunday Ticket/Superfan, but it is NOT the same channel.Yes, it is a new channel from the NFL Network, but it's the same Red Zone channel offered by the NFL Sunday ticket and Superfan package.
It seems quite a few are pretty upset about this. Both those who already have ST and those who have DirecTV and want to add red Zone channel.
Haven't located the Leary commercial, but I have noticed that pretty much all of the DirecTV commercials use the same misdirection. That is, they say that DirecTV carries all games, rather than saying Sunday Ticket carries all games. It may seem small, but it's deliberately confusing. They piss me off.
I may actually be looking into Dish Network at this point. Tired of paying $50 for Total Package.
I hope Mr McCarthy i9s still employed with the NFL because i just sent him an email about the exclusive rights for directv having to broadcast these nfl games needing to end. I hope every person out there tired of directv lets the NFL know their displeaser. Maybe im the 1% minority out there not in love with the dtv nation but i feel restricting fans of the game to one source has gone on long enough.NFL SUNDAY TICKET on Broadband: Fans who live in areas where DIRECTV's service is not available, such as apartment buildings or in residences with poor sightlines to a satellite signal, will be able to purchase a new NFL SUNDAY TICKET broadband package.I could not have Direct TV as we have too many trees in our neighborhood. Dish Network subscriber here - I thought I read that it cost $5/mo if you already have silver/200. I only have bronze/ 100 - do you know if I have to upgrade to Siver /200 first?Thankssnellman said:Spent the $5 per month for the sports package on Dish just for the redzone channel.
