Is the Red Zone Channel now going to be on NFLN every Sunday? (1 Viewer)

As someone who switched this summer from Comcast to Directv strictly for fantasy football purposes I'm not very happy(I'm not a hater I'm happy for you guys that don't have Directv and now are able to get RDC). I'm pissed that I spent all this money thinking that Directv had recently reupped their exclusive contract with the NFL and that my only option for watching games live outside of my local coverage was Directv(maybe it wasn't exclusive and I was wrong in thinking this).

I can't believe Directv would spend 700 million or whatever ridiculous amount they did for exclusive rights and then allow cable companies to carry this channel. I know this will be my only year with Directv now that Comcast is offering RDC. This is an enormous blow to Directv's profitability as I'm sure people will be leaving in herds. Are other Directv users as pissed as I am?

YES.DirecTV could keep a lot of customers IMO by offering their version of the RZC a la carte.

Also, hopefully this will drive down the ridiculously high price they are charging for the ticket.

Also a joke that they charge extra to get the games in HD.

I just will be surprised if there is not some kind of lawsuit filed. I don't know what grounds they will find, but Direct is going to take a hit because of this.

Either that or the providers will find a way to charge a premium fee for the benefit of having this channel next year.

I have had it on all day on my second tv and have just loved it.

For what? This was all spelled out in the new agreement back in March: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/artic...ssetId=P5590122
Did you read the 2nd part of my sentence??There are plenty of baseless lawsuits filed each year. Just because a document spells something out, doesn't mean there are not loopholes that can be exploited somehow.

This is Direct's bread and butter, when they take a hit in the pocketbook, they aren't going to just sit and smile about it.

Yeah I read it but it still doesn't make sense. The NFL is the big boy in this and I'm sure DirecTV made this concession because it was the only way they could keep Sunday Ticket exclusive. NFL doesn't need DTV, DTV needs the NFL.

I gotta say that it's going to be very hard to watch this late game after seeing all that action with no commercials. Going back to a single game with all the commercials is going to be rough...

:goodposting: For the first time in many years I have no Ticket, cancelled it with out knowing about the RZC. RZC found its way on to my TV quite a bit today. :goodposting:

was curious so i checked Dish Network's page and this is what it says:

Introducing NFL RedZone — the channel that will change your Sundays forever. Subscribe to Multi-Sports and receive NFL RedZone, NBA TV, NHL Network and 29 local sports networks.
It's under the "multi-sports package" that costs $5.99....I actually get it every September-May for all the regional fox sports channels - College FB/Basketball and NHL games galore - and ESPNU...best $6 in tv programming. Having this as part of it was a pleasant surprise....Instead of being stuck with Giants/Skins all afternoon, I had HD awesomeness with zero commercials.

:pickle: It's the same video feed with a different guy talking about it. If you want to call that different, then fine. As someone who's had both, it was the same experience today on Fios as I had on DTV. Very happy to be paying $50 instead of $400.
What you fail to mention is that for your $400 w/ DTV is that you get to watch all of the games live....not just the RedZone channel.

Who in the heck pays $400 for the Ticket?

Does anyone even pay full price? In 3 years I have had it free (didn't get SF), $120 in discounts and SF free, and ST free and $100 for SF. So in 3 years I have paid something like $250 for all the days. Less than $85 a year to watch all the games. Would be less since SF isn't even for me, I let my brother use it to watch on his computer at school. I find the Red Zone channel to be boring.

You guys are so exasperating. I didn't mention that because it wasn't pertinent. We're talking about the new Red Zone channel and how it compares to the DTV version. Upon review, its the same product but with a different host and no mention of DTV channel numbers... oh and you only have to pay $50 (on FiOS, less on others) to get it, instead of signing up for $400 worth of other stuff. So, for someone who wants to know how the new Red Zone channel compares to the DTV version, I'm telling him/her that its the same product. FYI, there are people who got Sunday Ticket so they could see some of every game, not just so they can watch one out-of-market game. For those people, like me, who like to catch some of every game, the Red Zone channel covered about 95% of our viewing on Sunday Ticket. So for those people, like me, who have in the past paid far too much for 16 channels Sunday Ticket only to find themselves watching one channel, the Red Zone, I would recommend dropping DTV so you can pay $50 (or less) to get virtually the same experience.

I like the NFL Game Mix in HD, where all of the games are on the screen and I can toggle between the one I want the sound on.

I love the Ticket. It could cost $1000 and I would still get it. I get so much enjoyment out of it. Yesterday morning I was like a kid on Christmas morning.

After a day of watching, I am completely satisfied with the new NFL RedZone Channel. It gives me exactly what I need. Couple that with Supercast on my PC, and we are in business.

I have never seen the RZC HD until yesterday and have to say I am very impressed. I maybe watched 5 minutes of the Bucs and Miami games until switching back to the RZC. Unless I can catch my Eagles playing, I will pretty much watch the RZC on Sundays from now on.

I can't see every turning that channel off on Sundays. But then again I'm a Rams homer so I have no need to watch the local team :goodposting:
