Is the Titans pass defense for real? (1 Viewer)

only allowing 170 passing yards per game.. is this a fluke? or were those offenses just horrible ?

I am tending to think they are the real deal because the Ravens torched the Steelers in week 1

The Jaguar's passing game sucks.

The Raven's just had a bad game. Probably got caught with their guard down a little.

The answer is: more data needed.

I'm a Titans :homer: so I'd love for them to keep it up, but I suspect the Broncos will have more success this week, especially if Lloyd is back on the field.

Titans pass D = Good, but not that good.

The Jaguars are the same Jaguars. No QB has passed well in Del Rio's offense yet. Im guessing that is still the case.

The Ravens were on the road and were due for the let down. They had all year to think about losing to the Steelers last year. It was very predictable.

Last time these two teams met, Orton almost hit 300 yards. I'll step out and say he tops it this week. 310, 2 Tds. At least 1 to a WR.

I highly doubt that. The last time these two teams faced Orton was playing under a different coaching regime and offensive philosophy. I am not saying the Titans are stellar but I like the match up with the Broncos.

Titans secondary has loads of talent and little productivity in 2010. Re-OP, little of both.

Broncos seem to have some key WRs injured so Titans secondary success could very well continue

I agree the coaches and philosophies are different, but I don't think it matters much when your team is playing from behind, as I suspect the Broncos will be.Last year Orton had two WRs go over 100 yards. Royal and Lloyd. That game was close. The Titans had VY at QB. Now they have a veteran in Has. I suspect the Titans are going to get a lead early in this game and Denver will be playing from behind most of it. I understand that the WRs are dinged, but the RBs are just as banged up and Decker is an improvement and a better talent than either Lloyd or Royal. I can easily see them being forced to throw in this one.I will agree to disagree and we can check this after the fact. I do not think 300 yards is out of the question and I can easily see Decker posting another TD.Correction: Orton threw for 340 yards against them last year. And I want to be clear: I think Lloyd is the better receiver of the group, but Decker has the most talent.

The only one missing is Royal (yeah I know Thomas is hurt too but he's pretty much been hurt since he came into the league). I think Decker playing more than Royal is a good thing for the Broncos. Plus, they'll have Moreno back and while I don't think he's a lead back I do think he's a good third-down RB. So Orton has a good complement of weapons to work with this week. Whether he'll get it done is the question but that's always the question with Orton. If the Broncos can get a decent running game going Orton will likely play much better. I don't think it's a coincidence that they couldn't run the ball in Week 1 and lost with Orton playing poorly but they won in Week 2 with Orton playing well and their running game looking better. Orton isn't the type of QB who can win games with his arm. He needs help. If the Titans take away the running game I think they'll force Orton into mistakes and win. If Denver can get it going running the ball, I wouldn't be surprised to see them win the game. Lloyd and Decker are a better WR duo than the Titans have faced this season (Jacksonville has poor WR talent and the Ravens had Boldin and a gimpy Evans last week).

TEN held MJD to under 100 rushing yrds in week 1 and Ray Rice to 43 rushing yrds in week 2. I don't see McGahee/Knowshon improving on that. If DEN has designs on winning this game they're going to have to do it through the air. I see lots of oppty's for sacks/turnovers for TEN this week.
