Not sure if this qualifies as a classic just yet, but I just picked up this 1982 beauty last week.
Friend of mine used to, when chicks asked what kinda car he had, he would say an "older vette." Looked very much like that, a Chevette.
That's a pretty sweet ride man, good choice.

Speaking of vettes...I was back home and talking to my best buddy's Dad. He has one of those little Audi two seaters and as long as I've known him he's had some sort of sports car. So he said he was looking at used Corvettes all over the state. So I asked him why? He said that all of his golfing buddies had them and when he pulls up to the club house, he sees them parked in perfect order right up by the clubhouse (assuming they are in all the handcapped spots because he's 70). Just trying to "keep up with boys" he says.

Always wanted a Corvette but it seems like the car of the old guy now which is a shame. Pound for pound for your money only the Porsche 911 is probably close in value, but I never see any young people driving them.

True.

There is always a trend though, and prices get crazy. First it was Mustangs, particularly fastbacks pre 1971, then more recently it was Mopars, Camaros, Chevelles, El Caminos, and 50's pick ups.

But right now, old Porsche's are in high demand, and almost no supply, so they are $$$.

My uncle has a '66 or '67 911 that he rebuilt the motor on and is perfect. I'm interested to see which son he passes that car on to.

My late brother, and my father for a period of time both owned the same white 9/11. I forget what year it was though, same range, pre 70. Had an aluminum block racing engine, was VERY fast, back in the day.

My step Dad has a 1998 BMW M Roadster convertible. Future classic. Looks like a Z3 but it isn't.

What color do you tell people you'll eventually paint it?
This is of course a quandry. When you do a multi year (spare time over 5 plus years) restoration and you do not like the original color, you want to paint it like the car you want. I want to paint it black, and a black car, the bodywork has to be perfect. I have finally decided onnthe color, and I gotta keep it real, make it close at least to it's original color. Maybe add some metal flake and a gloss finish, but it will be "Tiffany Blue", it's original color, when I get around to painting it. I like it better in the primer grey, that I did myself with a cheap spray gun from Harbor Freight.Eta: pic is before that layer of primer, just rattlecanned.

Got pulled over the other day. It's kind of a cop magnet. Recently put a Holley 4 barrell aluminum carb on it, aluminum radiator as well. Runs good.

Also,,I have it all set up for it to be shaved. No MERCURY across the front and the like. I love people guessing what it is. A GTO? A Lincoln? A Caddy? I like it shaved. One Mercury symbol on the trunk. None of the trim on it, but I have a complete parts car with the full set, plus the correct trim for this car. You are looking at like $2k for a decent paint job, on a car that size. It's a big decision. If I decided to sell it, maybe it is only worth $1500 more, and it is a bigger cop magnet, so I kinda like it in primer. Rather spend money on making it run better.

And it is so bad ... I just can't call it Tiffany. Originally I called her "Unicorn". They made roughly 3k of these and most would have been your common colors, red, black, white. How many were made in Tiffany Blue? Maybe 5?

It's like powder blue ... 65 ford racing powder blue ... how many of those are left? I don't think this car wants to be a girl ... it might be a transgender car ... and I just don't like that color.

It did not have the original 390 in it when I got it. I put a service block 428 Cobra Jet in it. Makes my big heavy car go fast, if I want. Also no radio ... i just like listening to the car run, and that custom exhaust sing.

Blap, blap,,blap!!! Bluh bluh bluh.
