Friend of mine used to, when chicks asked what kinda car he had, he would say an "older vette." Looked very much like that, a Chevette. Not sure if this qualifies as a classic just yet, but I just picked up this 1982 beauty last week.![]()
That's a pretty sweet ride man, good choice.OG_GF said:Friend of mine used to, when chicks asked what kinda car he had, he would say an "older vette." That has the DOHC Police Interceptor motor in it, right?http://momentcar.com/images/honda-civic-1977-13.jpgOG_GF said:Whatcha got Pete?
My uncle has a '66 or '67 911 that he rebuilt the motor on and is perfect. I'm interested to see which son he passes that car on to.True.
There is always a trend though, and prices get crazy. First it was Mustangs, particularly fastbacks pre 1971, then more recently it was Mopars, Camaros, Chevelles, El Caminos, and 50's pick ups.
But right now, old Porsche's are in high demand, and almost no supply, so they are $$$.
He's loaded, no reason to sell. Now would be a good time to sell. Prolly get $50k plus.
I had a 1989 M3 as my daily driver for about 2.5 years, loved that car.My step Dad has a 1998 BMW M Roadster convertible. Future classic. Looks like a Z3 but it isn't.
My first car was an '82 Chevette.OG_GF said:Friend of mine used to, when chicks asked what kinda car he had, he would say an "older vette." This is of course a quandry. When you do a multi year (spare time over 5 plus years) restoration and you do not like the original color, you want to paint it like the car you want. I want to paint it black, and a black car, the bodywork has to be perfect. I have finally decided onnthe color, and I gotta keep it real, make it close at least to it's original color. Maybe add some metal flake and a gloss finish, but it will be "Tiffany Blue", it's original color, when I get around to painting it. I like it better in the primer grey, that I did myself with a cheap spray gun from Harbor Freight.Eta: pic is before that layer of primer, just rattlecanned.STEADYMOBBIN 22 said:What color do you tell people you'll eventually paint it?
Also,,I have it all set up for it to be shaved. No MERCURY across the front and the like. I love people guessing what it is. A GTO? A Lincoln? A Caddy? I like it shaved. One Mercury symbol on the trunk. None of the trim on it, but I have a complete parts car with the full set, plus the correct trim for this car. You are looking at like $2k for a decent paint job, on a car that size. It's a big decision. If I decided to sell it, maybe it is only worth $1500 more, and it is a bigger cop magnet, so I kinda like it in primer. Rather spend money on making it run better.STEADYMOBBIN 22 said:What color do you tell people you'll eventually paint it?
Of course, there are some in that early 70's ... 72 Chevelle SS 454 is a classic. Cudas are weird though. I don't like the styling on the early Barracudas, thet didn't get good until about 1968.I think pre 1970 is a real classic.'70 Cuda here
Wow! Love it!
