Is there such a thing as WR hand-cuff? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking at WRs early. I like the value at RB in the 3rd-4th rounds and am looking at WR in the 1st/2nd rounds. Would I be considered a crack head for considering Harrison-Wayne as my WR #1 AND #2? It seems many feel Manning will post higher passing numbers w/out Edge and I was mocking the WRs at this point. Moss, Harrison, Boldin, Wayne seem to come up as the WRs on the board at this point. I could make good arguments for them all. But taking Harrison and Wayne would guarantee great average points from the WR1/2 spots each week right? While only taking one and either Moss/Boldin could lead to a few MISS weeks where you score low on BOTH WRs. By getting both IND WRs I think it may limit risk on a weekly basis even though you'd be loading up on one team. Anyone considering this? Are there any other teams you would consider doubling up on in the WR department for the same reason? OK, let me have it. :football:

I would say Joe J was a good habdcuff last year for Djax.

Off the top of my head I would say Burleson and Stockley for this year.

Having your two starting WR's from the same team is one discussion....but using your round 1 and 2 picks on Harrison / Wayne is completely another. Even if they turn out to be the highest rated tandem...spending a 2nd round on Wayne is a BIG reach.

I can't imagine a scenario where I'd spend my two first rounds on a WR tandem. The odds are simply not good...and it's costing you some serious RB talent. Even if you get two of the top 10 WR's....you may not be able to compensate for the RB talent you're likely to land in rounds 3 and beyond. It's possible...but hard to do.

I think the general concensus is not to force a WR cuff...but also don't avoid it at all costs. If I'm in rounds 4 or beyond...and I'm ready for a WR...if the best value on my board is from the same team as my WR1...I'm not going to be afraid to roster him. I just don't want to reach for him in the slightest.

You should trade your 1st for someone's 3rd and 4th. That way you could get Harrison, Wayne, your third and fourth round RBS, and still have a pick to take Manning, Gates, or another RB.

If you have Torry Holt on your roster, I could see spending a late pick on Kevin Curtis if your roster size is large enough.

Handcuffs have been seen on Chris Henry.
That's a good one. I should have disclosed that 10 players will be franchised so when I say 1st/2nd rd for Harrison/Wayne it would really be the 20th/21st overall picks. I know Wayne might be a slight reach with that pick but I am operating under the assumption that Manning throws for atleast 40 TDs. If Fitz were still on the board I would gladly take him and a RB but I think Fitz will be gone. Then I'm looking at Moss, Harrison, Boldin, Wayne, D. Jackson etc. My thinking is to absorb the IND TDs with both WRs and grab serviceable RBs like Dillon, Benson, Dayne in the 3rd/4th. I'm not that high on these RBs for top 10 finishes but I like all of them for goalline carries and TDs. I must also state that if Manning somehow made it to the 20th overall pick I would take him above anyone else.

I don't think so. Maybe a WR#2... but still tough b/c need a lot of reps with first team to get timing down with QB. Plus QB, gets used to throwing to WR#1 routes... WR#2 switches routes? Nah. RB is easier to plug and chuck (all 3rd down and long yardage passing downs with pass blocking protection aside).
