Is this a full tackle or not? (1 Viewer)

(14:16) 34-K.Jones up the middle to DET 40 for 8 yards (72-O.Umenyiora; 97-M.Kiwanuka). NYG-97-M.Kiwanuka was injured during the play. He is Out.

When listed like this, shouldn't Osi get a full tackle and Kiwanuka an assist? In the stats both were awarded an assist on this play.

noi saw the play: Kiwanuka grabbed K.Jones and Osi.....grabbed Kiwanuka

Then why didn't Kiwanuka get the full tackle and why is he not listed first in the play?

I guess my point is this: Is it possible to not give a full solo tackle on a play and only just assists? And if so then how is it labled differently in the play by play and the Gamebook.

I've always assumed that the first player listed earned the tackle and the second player listed was awarded an assist.

It is possible to give two assisted tackles and not a full tackle on a single play. It happens rarely, maybe once a game or less, but it happens. It isn't labeled any differently in the play-by-play or gamebook. I've only noticed it when I happen to be following along and catch the boxscore updating at the same time as the play-by-play and see it awarded that way.

It happened to SCHOBEL in the 1st quarter last night.

I've noticed it happens a lot more than people believe. If a guys runs into a pile, or nobody made the clear-cut tackle, 2 players will get Assists, and nobody will get the Solo.
