Is this a keeper or a dynasty? (1 Viewer)

By pure definition it is a keeper versus a dynasty (keep all your players until you cut or trade), although many leagues with similiar rules will call themselves dynasty. if you are not confused yet, because most dynasty teams curn the bottom 1/3 or so of the roster, you need to play this league as though it were strict definitional dynasty (imo).

I agree with coolnerd. While it's not a dynasty league by the strict literal definition, it is, for all intents and purposes, a dynasty league, and it should be treated as such in terms of player evaluation and roster construction.

The only exception is if there's some sort of rules on who you can or can not keep (i.e. no keeping players for more than 3 years, or keeping players requires you to forfeit draft picks, that sort of thing). If players can be kept without restriction or consequences, though, that league is a de facto dynasty.

its whatever you want to call it. dynasty and keeper are just two labels. never understood why people got so worked up over calling it one or the other.

It's true that it's just a label... but it's a helpful label for making an important distinction. Keeper strategy differs dramatically from dynasty strategy (in a keep-1 league, for instance, I would trade Tom Brady, Randy Moss, LaDanian Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, and DeAngelo Williams for Adrian Peterson, straight up). Someone like Michael Crabtree has a lot of value in a dynasty league, but little value in a keeper league. It's true that it's always up to the reader to filter all information with a little bit of common sense (i.e. factor in your own league's rules and requirements rather than swallowing all advice blindly), but the labels can make it easier to figure out where you should be going for information. If you're in a keep-3 league, you can tell that F&L's massive Dynasty thread won't hold much of value for you without first having to read through all 78 pages (and counting). If you're in a keep-20 league, it's nice to know that it's essentially a dynasty league, and therefore the threads marked "dynasty" are going to be a lot more relevant.Labels don't really mean anything in and of themselves, but they're very helpful for keeping the relevant information separate from the irrelevant.
