Is this collusion? (1 Viewer)

When out of division play begins, is it fair for me to give lineup/waiver advice to out-of-division owners that are playing teams in my division?

Would you do the same for your opponent when they are playing you? It's not collusion, but it's a jerk thing to do. Let it be and hopefully your division's opponents take care of their business.

:coffee: Plus you're likely to tick off one of the other owners, and if word gets around enough of them will do whatever they can to keep you OUT of the playoffs. Draft a good enough team and you won't need to be giving advice.

I've got an owner in my own division that asks for waiver advice daily.

Of course this is only his second year playing(I've got 15+), so I usually don't tell him who to pick up, just why he may want to pick up certain type players.

:goodposting: The last thing I would want to hear from someone in my league is advice on how to manage my own team.

My league is so cut-throat though.

There was even a rule put in place to limit the number of RBs you can have on your roster. This rule was put into place specifically because I ended up with a lot of good RBs one year.

So at this point, I'm pretty much going to do anything within the rules to win, **** move or not!

IF you have a rookie owner and you are trying to help them understand basic strategy, etc., SURE, but otherwise do so at your own peril.

Nothing wrong with a little friendly advice.

Now, if it's reached a point where you're running his team for him or encouraging him to bench his studs when he plays against you......then you've crossed a line.

Most leagues are cut-throat to those involved in them, and many have rules regarding the number of players per position. :goodposting:"**** move or not!"? Do you want to be that guy?

:goodposting: In a league with a bunch of fairly close friends & neighbors. We see each other quite a bit and will discuss our matchups. It is not uncommon at all for someone to give their opinion about a guy that someone else is either starting or benching. I don't think that is collusion.

what if his advice sucks? then he would be doing the others a favor.

Giving advice is not collusion. But generally speaking, advice offered without being requested will be seen as annoying or even insulting. If you happen to see guys in your league, striking up some matchup discussions and offering advice is fine. Seeking out other owners and emailing them unsolicited advice could easily be seen as rude/arrogant/insulting.

It's not collusion, but as many have mentioned, what goes around comes around. If you don't mind all the other owners in the league trying to offer advice to the guy who is playing against you every week, then by all means, have at it.

Personally, if someone offered me unrequested "advice" (i.e. implied that they knew how to run my team better than I did), I'd make sure I did everything I could to whomp his ### the next time I played him.

that sounds like collution.

I think it depends on the context of the conversation.if it's just a couple of poolies having a beer and discussing football, that's one thing. if it's a case where you are going out of your way to give advice that's another.I usually keep the cards close to the vest regardless of who I am talking to, because you never know when an injury will make you wish those players were available for you to pickup.

What is the point of playing fantasy football if you can't talk with your friends about it?

I don't have a problem with someone giving another owner advice. In 2 different live leagues I'm in with friends, I let everyone know up front at the beginning of the year that I will give them 1 piece of free advice upon request. After that, I charge $5 per advice requested. :goodposting:

Oh, and in one of those leagues I regularly tell other owners in my division who they should start unsolicited, especially when they're playing me. I enjoy playing head games with them, and if you push the right buttons you can often get your opponents to make non-optimal lineup decisions.

I had an owner try to give me advice a few years back. He needed my team to beat another team so that he could back door his way into the playoffs. Told me I was starting the wrong QB & he didn't appreciate it. It wasn't an issue for my team so I switched it out to make him happy. The QB he wanted lost the game for him. Ah well.

 :goodposting: This is such a non-issue. If they want to take your advice, fine. If not, fine. You're not controlling their team. What, everyone must maintain radio silence until the games start?

It can't be that cut throat if other owners need advice from fellow owners.
