Is Tomlinson getting pumped up this week... (1 Viewer)

Hoping for a little extra motivation out of this guy because so far this season he just doesn't seem to have it...would be nice to see him break the century mark first time this year. Every week I keep thinking "yeah, maybe this is the week he busts out with a big game", or maybe he just doesn't have it in him. I'm thinking the latter...cmon LT show me something.

LT is from an unincorporated hamlet outside of Waco called Tomlinson Hill. His ancestors have been there since Reconstruction, apparently.

About two hours south of Dallas.

I hope I'm wrong for your sake, but I'm projecting LT has an even tougher time here than most weeks.

His longest carry on 168 attempts has been 36 yards and he's averaging an anemic 3.3 a carry. And he's only chipped in 11 receptions (boy, we've come a long way since he notched 100 catches in 2003). His saving grace is that only five RB's have touched the ball more inside of the opponent's 20 yard line that L.T this year.

On the other side of the ball, we have a "good" Cowboys run D, allowing 102.5 yards a game and a 16th best 4.2 yards a carry, but this unit really knows how to bow their back at the goal line. Only four teams can lay claim to allowing fewer rushing touchdowns than the 'Boys (5).

I'd give him a better shot at 100+ yds than I do of scoring two touchdowns and even those odds are slim. Long story short, Tomlinson is going against a defense whose best attribute is stopping the one ace he still has up his 30 year old sleeve.

Turner was also interviewed for the Dallas job but was passed over for Phillips. I imagine he is going to go the extra mile gameplanning this one.

It will be interesting to watch two teams that run under one coach's offense and the other coach's defense.

I'll say upside is 70-1 and downside is 40-0.
He couldn't run on KC or Cleveland, I just can't see him running on Dallas, and now he rarely even catches screen passes, aside from a couple lucky td games he has been almost unstartable most weeks. Has he even had a 100 yard game this year?

They aren't going to need him to win the game for them. Rivers and those tall receivers will get open versus the Dallas shorter secondary.

Where he can do well is on screen plays. If our ends break down again or try to cover him out of the backfield, I think he gets a few good screens. Teams will want to do it more now after Jacobs had success with Spencer covering him last week.

80 yds rushing 50 yds receiving and 1 td is my best guestimate.

RB LaDainian Tomlinson is looking forward to heading to Dallas while recalling the Chargers' last trip. The Chargers prevailed, but Tomlinson lost a couple of diamond earrings during the game — about a $25,000 hit.

"I remember it pretty vividly," he said. "Obviously losing my earrings was one thing that sticks in my mind. I'll never forget that. I remember us winning and talking to Emmitt Smith before the game. I remember being emotional before the game, having my family there and running out in Texas Stadium where I had visited a couple of times before and also watched many Dallas Cowboys games on television growing up. So it was a pretty emotional day for me."

Yeah...........8 TD's over his last 6 games is "almost unstartable".
Exactly, "almost" being the key word, but I can tell you as an owner it is scary when you expect numbers and at half he has 12 carries and 20 yards. Also the league I have him in is a 1 point per 15 yards which hurts his value a little more. We will see how it goes this week, I am not starting him.

so who are you starting in place of him?for me Lynch is my only other option...not good, so it looks like i need at least a short TD from LT

You may still get your TD, they still do feed him around the goal line. However, 3.3 YPC and 11 catches this far into the season is sad. I remember the year he had 100 catches, that was a beastly season. He is just no longer a threat when he has the ball and I wonder if in the real playoffs will Sproles start getting more touches since he is (in mho) a much more dangerous back at this point. (Although currently Sproles is also only averaging 3.3 YPC also)I am starting:Ray Rice vs Detroit and Jamal Charles vs the Bills.

I'm starting Knowshon and Thomas Jones over Tomlinson... his TDs have been saving him, how long can that last?

I have LT but still some questions about starting him especially since my league playoffs start this week and with the uncertainy, IMO, on how he'll perform I just couldn't start him and if he has a mediocre or worse game and I end up losing to the #8 seed. I'm the #1 seed. Fortunately I am able to have 2 backs I can start that I think will have better production than LT this week. Ray Rice and Ricky Williams. Sad though as great as LT has been over the years I'd love to be able to start him and see him have the spark and drive he had all the years when he was unquestionably the best back in the NFL. Time marches on and so do the skills of players. In a physical violent game it's hard to constantly perform at a high level year after year and it does takes it's toll on a player. He still has some gas in the tank and can help teams that may have lesser talent/production at the position. If he were one of the better talent at rb that I had I would then no doubt play him. When you're in the playoffs though you gotta put in the guys that gives you the best option of winning. He just isn't one of my better options at rb, IMO, in a week where if I lose I'm done. For those that have to start him I hope he helps your team but I'm riding the guys that got me this far and hope for the best from them. LT has been a great player and I still always root for him to play good. He was phenominal to watch when he was crankin' out yards and td's. Truly one of the better backs to have played the game.
